Hotel Vintage Portland, a Kimpton Hotel

We really liked this hotel. Such a great location — close to great shops and eats — and good service. Our room was clean and the ambiance in the hotel was great. How could you not love a place that has a free wine happy hour and a coffee bar in the morning?

We didn’t stay here. Our friends from Vancouver, Washington had booked a room here just in case the night ended drunken and late.
Right when I stepped in, I noticed there was live music! There was a pretty Lady singing and swaying in the middle of the lobby. Décor is cute and clean. All the rooms are named after wineries. And the hotel looks pretty cute!
The room itself is nice too. I like the red wine walls and the cork and wine décor. I heard there’s free wine tasting between 5−6p. Just pretend you’re a hotel guest? Lol
I’m sitting on the edge of the bed right now, and it seems pretty comfy to me so far. Lol

Booked this hotel for our first visit to Portland and couldn’t have picked a better place to spend the weekend at. Location is great and we were able to walk anywhere and or short über to other areas. The staff was friendly and not in an overbearing way and we were able to do an early check in, since we had gotten an early morning flight. The hotel offered complimentary wine tastings and bikes for use to roam around the city. The room we had gotten was very modern with a vintage feel and the bed was beyond comfortable.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here over the weekend I could not be happier with our experience with the staff… The staff was amazing and friendly, they met our expectations and exceeded them, even down to my husbands weird request of a picture of nick cage for a joke. The room service deliverers were always nice and friendly and respectful of us. The people at the front desk were very nice even when we were leaving they were wishing us a happy anniversary… The best part by far was the room. It was gorgeous. And the tub was big enough for me to sit comfortably (I’m 6ft tall, so that’s amazing). The bed was super comfy, I really didn’t want to leave that place. Also, the food is absolutely delicious. If I could live in that suite with room service all the time, my life would be made.

Haven’t stayed here yet, our stay is in two weeks! I called two days ago to upgrade our room to the garden suite. Great customer service on the phone! Told the man we’re getting married at Voo Doo Doughnuts down there and he said he’ll have champagne and truffles free of charge for our special occasion! We cannot wait!!! I will update review once we have stayed & post pictures of the fabulous room. Highly recommend this hotel already.

I’m currently staying at the Vintage in Portland. This isn’t a review about the rooms but my experience this morning at 7am.
At 7am I went downstairs to eat breakfast. I discovered by the young lady behind the counter that the restaurant doesn’t open until 8am. She suggested I go three blocks to the corner restaurant. I did and discovered it was closed.
When I returned soon after She then apologized and said «I should have called to make sure it was opened before I sent you out the door».
She then suggested another restaurant that was even further away and said that she called them and they were open.
You guessed it it was closed to, so I ended up taking a early morning hike when I just expected to take the elevator down to the hotel restaurant to eat breakfast.
When I returned to the hotel the young lady didn’t seem surprised to see me and was more then willing to say nothing to me if I didn’t speak up first.

If you are visiting Portland and got a couple pretty pennies laying around… i HIGHLY suggest you spend those pennies at Vintage!
Besides being in the PERFECT downtown location, service here is top notch. I can tell that Kimpton is a decent place to work at because everybody we encountered was genuinely pleasant. We were constantly greeted, and I felt very welcomed during my stay,
Room here was super CHIC and was perfect for a getaway weekend. My better half enjoyed it! The hotel itself is very nice as well, lots of interesting and stylish décor.
So why else did I love Vintage? WINE HOUR! free wine tastings in the lobby from 5−6pm! I got to try lots of local stuff. And no rinky dink pours, I had 2 – 3 glasses each time. Talk about a great way to start off the evening!
Vintage has other amentities too. a game room, very dog friendly, and you gotta love the free coffee and hot chocolate they leave out in the morning for you! Again, location is top notch. Everything is walkable and you’re in the heart of the downtown area.
Would I be back? HELL YES! Thank you Vintage for making our first time in Portland a blast!
Final Dirty Donovan Advice? Über ride to airport was $ 30, Moda Center was about $ 13

The interior and rooms décor were superb. Industrial chic with custom metal piping lights in the lobby. Every floor has a balcony that allows you to see the first floor lobby. Lobby bar was connected and giving it a high end club feel to the entire lobby but not in a cheesy way. Proximity to Pazzo was a plus too.
Our room had a 45 degree almost couch to ceiling windows that gave an amazing half sky view. downside is that even with the blinds shut, it was still pretty bright in the morning.
It’s definitely a hotel with smooth and awesome vibe.

Our favorite hotel in downtown we have stayed at several other hotels in the area and none of them compare. The staff is attentive, friendly, accommodating and welcoming. We will always come back because of that, not to mention the proximity of everything you could ever need in downtown. Food trucks around the corner, the mall a few blocks away and restaurants nearby. Did I mention that they rent out their bikes, free of charge? We are definitely looking forward to staying here for our future anniversary. The last time we spent it here it was amazing. Thanks to the staff and the excellent rooms we are always happy to be in Portland.

Update: 12/​20/​2015: We did not receive a gift certificate to stay with any Kimpton Hotel (which was my assumption and misunderstanding). We received a gift certificate to stay with the same hotel, again.
I was told all the beds and baths in the King rooms are the same. I can’t imagine a scenario where we want a repeat of the same experience with which we were so dissatisfied.
Again, the staff was 5 stars, but the bed was SO hard (surprisingly, although we sleep on a Temperpedic Cloud at home) and the whole reason we splurged on the King Spa suite was for the bath that we couldn’t use due to logistics issues with the placing of the water-​spout. It’s just right where your head should go. We can have romantic times outside of the bath, but when you’re counting on it, it’s a downer.
Update: 12/​15/​2015: I emailed the hotel and they are sending us a gift certificate for a night with Kimpton Hotels, which I feel is a really great way to help us out after a bad experience. Kimpton Hotels have always been very reliable and classy that way. Thank you to the GM and staff that were so helpful in this process!

I love Kimpton hotels! This one might be at the top of my favorite Kimptons, the location is great, the hotel is lovely, but the service can’t be beat anywhere! Hands down, best customer service.
My husband and I decided to take a little road trip down to Portland for a night and since we were driving we decided to bring our dog Hunter. I love that Kimpton hotels are pet friendly, but until you bring your dog to the hotel, you really have no clue just how pet friendly they are. Hunter got dog bowls delivered to the room and treats and lots of pets from all of the staff. They made it so comfortable to bring him along!
I love Kimpton hotels and I love the Kimpton Karma rewards which enabled us to get a complimentary upgrade this time :).
The wine hour was fabulous because they had a local winery pouring wine as well as the complimentary wine they were pouring!
I can’t wait to come back!

Great location in PDX — in walking distance to the Pearl District, Powell Books, restaurants. The lobby is superb, they have live entertainment in the evenings. The staff was friendly. The rooms seem to have been recently updated, clean, and crisp. The hotel is located in an older building and the AC /​heat can be somewhat loud, but that is understandable. 5 stars. I booked on priceline and was able to get a room for $ 100 a night.

Everything at Hotel Vintage was top notch from the service to the room to the personal, thoughtful touches.
They also have a gorgeous bar in the hotel.
We stayed in a King Corner Reserve room which was a bit of a splurge but I have to say it was an amazing stay and I have told many people about how excellent our stay was.
We brought our 4 month old baby with us and they had a crib waiting for us as well as a plush teddy bear for him and travel sized baby shampoo and lotion!
I was blown away by this gesture. We will certainly return to Hotel Vintage. They seem to be doing everything right and are very friendly to families!

Pre-​renovation this was the Vintage Plaza. Post renovation the lounge and bar are quite nice and modern with usually hipster looking bartenders. It has a great feel though, nice to relax and watch people come and go.
Luckily with all the remolding over the years they have left the classic and beautiful brick exterior alone. The whole place and a luxurious feel.
If you want to look up information on the building and it’s history it was origingaly the Imperial hotel and is sometimes called The Wells Building after one of its builders.
Fun fact-​The original hotel was popular enough a major expansion was built in 1906. The expansion is now known as the Hotel Lucia.
The building was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Cool place. Just staying here for one night. I normally stay at the Hotel Monaco, but there was not a lot of availability this time. I was pretty impressed by this location. Very cool vibe, a historical hotel, good lighting and a really cool layout. I stay at a lot of Kimpton hotels and this time around my room was upgraded to a pretty good size room. Before I get to the room, the service was amazing. Everything I would expect from a Kimpton and they do it well here. Everyone says hello. I stayed through wine hour and they served me while I was working from a couch area. Fantastic service.
The room was very clean and spacious. Plenty of space and very well decorated. Bed was comfortable too. I ordered room service from the restaurant the Pazzo. It was just okay. I don’t expect a lot from room service. Actually it was just better than average, but was not as good as some of the Kimpton hotel staple restaurants.
Overall great job Vintage! I think you may even replace my other favorite hotel in Portland, Hotel Monaco.

I am totally sold on Kimpton Hotels. The Hotel Vintage is one of my faves. I’m always greeted with a warm welcome, the rooms are well-​appointed (hoodie robes for your use while you’re there!), there’s a complimentary wine happy hour every night from 5 – 6, and just by joining their karma rewards program, you get free wifi. They are pet friendly, have a flexible check in/​check out policy with notice, and have complimentary «forget it? we’ve got it!» items like toothbrushes, nail files, even curling irons! The bathroom products are all very nice stuff, and I love that they have pump dispensers in the shower for soap, shampoo and conditioner. Saves on waste. The next time you’re in Portland, be sure to stay at this beautiful hotel. It’s fantastic!

Jerome don’t do hotels. He does Air BnB. But, when I do it in Portland, I do it on the floor, where it’s good for your back. Stay hungry my friends. Wait, what?

I’ll mos def be back. But, only at a discount cuz this shit was expensive. If you have the means, I highly recommend it…
