Hollywood Family Dentistry

I went to Hollywood Dental to finish a horrible implant experience started at OHSU school of dentistry. I had a great experience with Dr. Justin Gonzalez at that time. I’ve been getting my regular check ups there since… Then last time I went in I was introduced to a new dentist after my cleaning and was a bit confused by it, figuring that Dr Gonzalez had taken on another dentist in the practice. When my bill came, it looked like my insurance was refusing to pay, even though they had always paid for this office before. Fast forward 6 months for my next appointment and when I asked to be sure I was going to see Dr G, so the insurance would go through, they inform me that the practice had been sold to this new dentist! I never received a notification, nor did anyone bother to tell me that the new dentist doesn’t take my insurance. They didn’t seem concerned about this, as if I should somehow intuit that things had changed despite the practice having the same name, receptionist and hygienist. Very disappointing. I find this very deceitful on their part. What happened to informing the patients of change in care?

I’ve seen many a dentists in my day — all hopped on sugar as a kid, yeah it seemed like a good idea at the time, but you start paying for those decisions as an adult. Choosing a dentist is no easy task, coupons and free offers are flying into our mail from every dentist in Portland. BUT you don’t need free stuff when you have a dentist like Dr. Kato!
The staff is amazing! They’re friendly and smiley (smiley’s a word right?) — It should be! The girls at Hollywood are really smiley! I hate going to the dentist, like the rest of everyone with teeth, but then something magical happened … they offered me coffee! That’s when I knew they were a dental practice after my own heart.
There’s lot’s of options in Portland, I’ll give you that. But at the end of the day, I’m happy because Dr. Kato is gentle. The Staff is Awesome. They have good coffee! Their waiting room is comfortable. They’ll work with insurance and they are incredibly affordable!
I highly recommend Dr. Kato and the team at Hollywood Family Dentistry! Thanks guys for making a dental visit something to look forward to!
