Historic Belmont Firehouse

Great little stop for the kids to run around and experience everything in a fire station. We spent about an hour and a half with a 2.5 year old and a 5 year old. Lots of nice historical information for the adults too.
Here’s what’s inside:
–Historic steam fire wagon
–Fire truck cab simulator
–Fire pole for the kids to try
–Video about fire safety
–A dispatch room to sit and pretend play
–A puzzle station with photos of the station over the years
Sounds like it’s only open to the public on Wednesdays and every 2^nd Saturday.

Fun place to take kids. Open during certain times of the month so check website before you head over. Cool simulated ride on the fire truck.

I was looking for something cool to do with our three and a half year old son and his friend and came across this place. We loved it! The people in there today were really awesome and nice. My sons favorite things were the little firepole, the firetruck simulator and the water hose area. I would have liked to look more at the pictures and what not… maybe some time i dont have the little ones.
Our son was talking about it nonstop when we got home!

Through interactive displays and photography exhibits, learn the heritage of the Portland Fire and Rescue team over the last 150 years, for nothing more than a smile (donation to the Jeff Morris Foundation who runs the place is encouraged).
If you are SUPER lucky, during an organized event there (the Belmont Street Fair, for example) you can see one of the real, live rescue ponies! They bring ‘em by for the kiddos. And by «kiddos», I mean pony-​lovers of all ages.

Cool old Portland firehouse turned into a museum of safety and memorabilia. I was trying to find some interesting stuff for kids to do during the rainy season and a firemen friend recommended this place.
The place is plastered with collections of historic fire safety related stuff. I really liked the old fire wagons and vintage photos. Kids always love the firemen gear and there are always good events geared around fire and life safety.
