Wasn’t the biggest fan. This place was markedly smaller than the vintage store way down the street and more populated with furniture and lamps than any portable purchases. I found myself being not excited about any of the items, not to mention that they were kinda costly as well.

I was hoping to find clothing but it looks like it’s only furniture and home décor.

Hunting for a vintage side chair I happened upon this little gem after browsing my way down Hawthorne Blvd. Stepping into this store is like stepping back in time! The pricing was a little spendy but this isn’t exactly Ikea. This is collectable, vintage furniture and accessories with quality and history!
If you are looking for REAL mid century items DEFINITELY check this place out.

Cool Shop, next best thing to going to Palm Springs if you like Mid-​Century Modern. Great antique mall with lot’s of neat items. Happy Hunting.

This is as Portlandia as it gets!
Sometimes used furniture shops can seem good-​will-​like or even have funky smell but not this place! It def has a clean and vintage chic vibe with their selections. Once you enter the back room… it’s quite spacious with high ceiling so there are plenty of display up top as well.
you can find anything from furniture to décor items such as vintage typewriters and large antler.
Price is mid range since the pieces seem to be high quality. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the market for some vintage/​industrial chic housing items!

Seriously! The gems in this store look like they came straight off the set of Mad Men.
As someone with a penchant for everything mid-​century, I was looking for a couple of pieces to add some pizzazz to our empty errrm, new home. This shop fit the bill.
I chose a very reasonably priced teak coffee table, a really cool-​looking doorknob and a gorgeous low-​backed couch. It’s gorgeous. I’m looking at it right now. Did I mention how gorgeous it is?
Must. Come. Here.

Exactly what you want in a vintage furniture store!
Good selection, there is everything from chairs & dressers to wall art & sweet hats.
The prices are fair and seem to be not much higher than their competitors.
There is also a section of hardware! If there’s anything you want to fix up more or change a little, they have the hardware you need to do it!

Nothing spectacular here. The furniture is all from the same era and prices are high. The woman greeted a couple that walked in before us and never said a word to me even when I was purchasing a small pitcher. If I knew she was so rude I wouldn’t have bought a $ 10 pitcher. The only reason why they got 2 stars is because I found one thing I liked which I wouldn’t have bought knowing the woman was rude.

We moved up from SF last year, and were afraid we would never fill the hole in our hearts left by the absence of the Alameda Antiques Faire.
Turns out, Portland has an even better antique scene, and we’ve been like kids in a candy shop.
As far as vintage stores go, Hawthorne Vintage is our hands-​down favorite. The owner, Sheila, never makes us feel unwelcome and doesn’t stretch her «I know everything about this stuff and you know nothing» arms like some of the other guys in the biz.
We love this place. You will love this place, too.

A Mid-​Century Modern treasure cove. When I walked into this place I wasn’t sure what I was going to find, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the selection of high-​end, hard to find, modern furniture available. They carry McCobb, various Danish teak pieces and plenty of quirky items if you want to make a statement. The staff is very knowledgeable and super friendly. If you have questions or need help finding something, they are more than happy to show you around. The only negative thing that I noticed is that their stock moves kind of quickly. I had my eye on a credenza, but I wanted to wait and think about it. When I came back the following week, it was gone. But still, this is the place to go to find that piece you’ve been looking for. I’ll be back when it’s time to furnish my home office.

Until my last Portland visit, this place wasn’t really part of our vintage shopping route, but I’d definitely stop by again next time I’m wandering around Hawthorne. To look, I mean — I certainly can’t afford anything here!
Hawthorne Vintage is a big place with lots of rooms, so take your time and make sure you haven’t missed any corners or rooms! They have lots of vintage lighting and furniture, art, vintage fabrics, and housewares (especially Pyrex bowls, at least when I was there). I didn’t see much in the way of vintage clothing or accessories, so I’m assuming it’s more for home décor.
Lots of funky mid-​century furniture and lighting, and it all seemed to be in really nice condition. Nothing seemed particularly affordable to me, but then I’m more of a thrift store shopper.
The staff seems pretty hands-​off, or maybe they could just tell we were primarily there for fun — I don’t think anyone asked if they could help us and I’m not even sure I recall seeing an employee at all.
If you’re into vintage housewares and furniture, particularly mid-​century era, this is totally worth checking out. Even if you’re just looking to browse, it’s a neat place with plenty of cool things to look at.

I love vintage stores. I think it stems from yard saling and estate saling with my mom through my whole childhood and adolescence.
This particular one has a few standouts: the watch department is phenomenal. Lots of light fixtures (the glass that covers the bulbs). They have a whole pegboard of doorknobs, cabinet pulls and the like. However, a lot of what is there seems overpriced to me, in terms of large furnishings. I think you can do a lot better down the street at 20^th and Hawthorne or so, next to Lardo.
But the great thing about vintage places is that the inventory can change so wildly in such a short amount of time. I’ll keep looking!

I had so much fun perusing this seemingly never-​ending store! Hawthorne Vintage carries an abundance of great vintage (and vintage-​inspired) housewares, including clothing, that are in wonderful condition, and offered at reasonable prices.
I walked away happy with a mid century modern wire magazine holder/​rack that I now admire daily. Having seen similar racks for sale online and at other stores, I believe it was well-​priced at $ 20.

I think if you’re looking for vintage furniture or house wares in Portland, Hawthorne Vintage is the place to start. The place is large, with lots of well laid out stock. The pricing varies based on the quality and uniqueness, but it is very reasonable. There is a lot of furniture, beds, desks, dressers, side tables, lamps, dining sets, sofas, shelves… I find the staff to be knowledgable and helpful. They will leave you alone to wander through, but if you have questions they are right there to help.

This is my favorite vintage store in Portland! Great variety of mid-​century furniture and decorator items! My wife and I walked in last summer on the advice of a couple we met at Henry’s talking about how we’d love to find a head-​board but we never have any luck because we have a Cal-​king, and low-​and-​behold: A beautiful rose-​wood platform w/​end tables in Cal-​king! The price was reasonable, and they delivered it to our home in Tacoma!
We’ve also found some great Lane pieces here along with some cool art and glassware.
We kind of considered this one of our hidden gems, but they were mentioned by name in the latest Atomic Ranch! So much for secrecy!

The gal who worked here made me feel invisible and uncool (which maybe true but I don’t need a holier-​than-​thou tattooed hipster enabling my poor self esteem). She couldn’t be bothered to greet/​acknowledge me and when I asked if there was any vintage phones with standard phone jacks, she didn’t even bother to look up from her iphone before saying ‘no’.
Admittedly, the selection was good (especially for modern mid-​century stuff) but the prices were about twice as much as nearby joints like i ‘heart’ Retro on NE 42^nd. I won’t be going back… not until I grow a septum piercing at least.

This review concerns consigning items at this shop. We decided to try this shop after Portland Modern was unprofessional (see their review for info). The new owner lady came by our home based on photos of chairs we wished to consign. She was very well educated about furniture, their pricing and was generally agreeable to deal with.
Within a couple of months we got a check in the mail after she sold the chairs at an excellent price. We were very happy with the experience, her utmost professionalism and we will be consigning more items in the near future.

We bought a beautiful 1960 teak Danish dining table here, for a very good price.
Compared to the other vintage stores on Hawthorne (which we stopped at before Hawthorne Vintage), the quality and selection here is far better. The other stores were fully of frankly, crappy, cheaply made, ugly items, and the few things they had that I would consider buying were outrageously overpriced.
Not so with Hawthorne Vintage. The store is clean, well-​organized, and pleasant to shop in. The staff were very helpful, even letting us re-​arrange tables and such to check them out better.
We bought a beautiful 1960 teak Danish dining table here, in very good condition, for LESS than the price marked! The prices here are all flexible, as far as I can tell. Make an offer and see, you might be surprised.
