Habitat For Humanity Restore

I go in occasionally to donate and browse and always find treasures. I have not yet actually bought anything because the few times I had something in mind, they didn’t have that item that day. But the stock changes quickly and every time I’ve seen things I wish I needed because they were nice and a good deal.

We needed a new toilet for our second bathroom. We did not want to spend $ 100 to 150 for it. at The Home Depot or George Molan. So, we went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore near Mall 205.. We got a good quality clean perfect toilet for $ 40. It is a famous brand. It is not new, but it is close to it. One of the volunteers in the store put on to a cart and brought it out to my car and loaded it in for me. We are extremely happy with our purchase. The quality, the price and the service were all amazing! And, we contributed to an excellent charity at the same time!
I also want to respond to the person who said the ReStore would not refund her money for a washing machine that did not work and was smoking. Unfortunately, people have been known to could buy something and then SAY it does not work when it does work. It is simply a ploy to get their money back and keep the working appliance. I know that it is sometimes hard to believe that people could be that nasty. I am no angel, but I always find it hard to believe that someone would lie to me or try to steal my identity, etc. However, nasty thingst happen a lot more than most of us would care to believe. I think criminals are counting on our lack of prediction and our inability to believe it when they do their evil deeds! They want to take us by surprise. Evil people want to take advantage of our goodness and our desire to trust other people, etc. It is not pleasant to look at what they do, but to get by in our world you have to see the facts of what can really happen. That is why a store would not give someone a refund without getting the appliance back.

Don’t buy appliances here, they are not tested in any way. I purchased a used washing machine. I cleaned it all up and plugged it in and it filled and washed and seemed to work. When it went into the spin cycle it began to smoke and filled the basement with smoke before I could turn it off. I called and asked about getting money back and they said of course if I brought it back. Inquired about why they wanted a washer back that did not work and had caught on fire. I was offered no explanation (let alone an apology) other than it’s «our policy.» I again inconvenienced a friend with a truck to take it back and get my money back. I still don’t know why they wanted it back if it’s a very real hazard. We are seriously lucky it did not catch something on fire. I love the idea of buying from somewhere that helps others, but I won’t be going back. I’ll stick to the Rebuilding Center in Portland from now on!
