Gorgeous Gelato

Although it was frigid and windy outside, I couldn’t help but check this place out. This was my first experience with such gorgeous gelato (really it’s the most beautiful I’ve ever laid eyes on), and the creamy taste and consistency of said gelato was even better (I got vanilla and hazelnut, and was so happy to find a few toasted hazelnuts near the bottom!). The owner was so congenial that I found myself ordering cannoli that I did not need and that I would then have to carry around with me outside for the next half hour, but I didn’t care, I knew they would be delicious. Honestly, the cannoli were not as good as I’d hoped, but then again we didn’t eat them till the next day so that’s partially my bad. There was something about the flavor that I didn’t care for (lemon when I was expecting pistachio?) and that may very well be because they’re more authentic cannoli than what I’m used to, so I chalk that up to a personal preference. I chatted with the owner for a bit because he was super nice and had a quick wit. I would definitely go out of my way to come here again.

Oh my, I don’t know what else to say, but «Oh my»! Gorgeous Gelato is dangerous and I am grateful that it is in Portland, ME for a couple reasons: 1) It’s a wonderfully, fantastically, tasty treat, and 2) It is more than hundred miles from my house!
My son and I stopped in for some dessert and the place was packed and there was only one employee working this Sunday evening. Was it a problem, no way! The woman was quick, informative and provided fantastic service — explaining all of the flavors and even offering a sample. While we had to wait a whole two minutes to get served, it was worth the wait. Service, great gelato, we’ll be back!

My parents live in Milan, so I consider myself a seasoned gelato sampler. When they say the best gelato west of Italy, they aren’t kidding! Felt instantly transported back to Milan with the first bite. Fig & ricotta was to die for. Will be back!

My visit to this gelato shop was brief, but the pistachio gelato was a real winner. Seems to have a good selection, but doesn’t overwhelm with variety. Cozy.

But the best part is that they have ICE CREAM filled Cannoli OMG!!!

I was in Portland for a day trip and stopped by Miyake for dinner. The hostess recommended we try this place so we came by and was blown away by the quality and authenticity of the gelato and the genuine nature of the owner. He welcomed us in and won us over with his kindness and sincerity. It helps that this also happens to be the best gelato I’ve ever had. I’ve been to places like Grom and Amorino in Boston/​NY and this place blows those franchises out of the water. You have to try the raspberry and chocolate duo – everything is made fresh everyday by the wife!

Try the hazelnut and their dark chocolate. You feel like you are eating something heavenly, this stuff is good. The cannoli there is light and rich, they have fun flavors, and if you are lactose free they have options for you too! I know I’ll be going back for more.

I’ve walked by this shop a few times while in Portland. Last night we decided to stop in. Wow. This was the best little treat to cap off the evening. I’ve never had Gelato before but this was incredible. The women working the shop told us the owner studied in Milan so this is as authentic as it gets.
I am definitely a fan of this place and next time I find myself in Portland I plan to be back.

Gorgeous Gelato has some amazing Gelato in the touristy area of downtown Portland. This shop is no tourist trap though. The gelato is excellent and they have many flavors. The eponymous gorgeous flavor was packed with caramel, chocolate, and vanilla. The waffle cone was also delicious.

Omg panna cotta and caramel and the gorgeous flavor are delish!!! Baccio and coconut are divine!

We never tried authentic gelato that was sourced from Italy, so we decided why not as we were in the area. My husband and I split a small with him choosing the gorgeous flavor and I went with the simple and plain vanilla. Their weren’t many suitable alternatives that looked appealing to me, but it seems that dark chocolate was a favorite among consumers that day.
I took one star off because the gentleman who was serving the gelato completely ignored my husband and I and decided to help/​attend to another group that entered a minute or so after us. I looked at my husband thinking, «if he doesn’t acknowledge us soon, I’ll visit the shop across the street» just as the gentleman realized we were in fact patrons waiting to be served.

After 543 879 samples, I ended up getting the Pistachio and Gorgeous Gelato (vanilla mixed with chocolate and caramel), both of which were creamy, smooth and flavorful. The workers were amiable and had so much patience with us as we tried basically all their flavors haha They were also thorough in explaining the flavors to us and what exactly was in it. I wish they had outdoor seating… but would come back if I’m ever in the area!

As opposed to its almost across the street counterpart, I find Gorgeous Gelato adorable and manageable in options. Something makes me nervous when there is 213 058 720 495 870 240 different types of gelato and I feel like either the quality will suffer or I wonder how old some of that stuff is really.
I love that they offer the gelato «affogato», which is when they dump espresso over the top of the gelato flavor of choice. My favorite is their namesake gelato, the Gorgeous Gelato flavor which has chocolate and other flavors mixed together. I love that they make their gelato every day in the building and they use all natural ingredients (aka things I can eat without hives).
The shop itself is homey and cozy, but it is PRISTINELY clean. While they are definitely cultivating an Italian kitchen type look, you can tell that each and every utensil, counter, etc is gleaming.
The staff is nice. Even when it is busy I do find that they move at a fast paced speed and are polite and helpful.
I definitely will continue to return and always refer my friends here!

Gorgeous Gelato is wonderful. Creamy, smooth, delicious. So much flavor and variety. We went twice and I had the Sea Salt Caramel and Hazelnut and then the Rum Chocolate and Gorgeous (vanilla with chocolate and caramel). The shop is cute and comfortable to hang out in, very deserving of the number 1 spot for gelato in Portland.

Truly, the most velvety gelato! Unique flavors as well including green tea! I loved the pistachio!!! Try the Nutella expresso !

It’s a cute little shop with friendly owners and staff. You’re allowed to sample the flavors so you can be sure to order something you like. The gelato is rich, creamy, and delicious.
My favorite flavors: chocolate Oreo, hazelnut, sour cherry, pistachio, amaretto. The affogato is a lovely treat as well.
I’d never tried gelato until I went to Gorgeous, and I was blown away. I’ve since tried gelato from other places and they just don’t measure up. If you want gelato, you need to go to Gorgeous Gelato.

LOVED this gelato place. The owner was so friendly and took so much pride in explaining his different flavors. He was also a great salesman– not in the blatantly persuasive way, but incredibly confident that his gelato flavors (especially the gluten free chocolate that was guaranteed to be addictive) would deliver.
Would definitely recommend a stop if you’re in the city. You will definitely feel welcome to try any or even most of the flavors, and can’t really go wrong with any of them I think!

WOW! Wonderfully silky texture with a rich knock-​out flavor — this gelato stands out as some of the best gelato I’ve ever had. First of all it looks absolutely beautiful. You have the owner who tells you his gelato is the best and he is not lying. Handing out samples to try, there is NO WAY you’re walking out of the store without buying something. From the first taste I was hooked.
This place definitely lives up to the hype and satisfied a hardcore chocolate craving I was having. Thank you for sharing your amazing gelato with the world!

I’ve always admitted to being a die-​hard fan of the competition across the street, but that’s mostly because it was the first place I tried!
However… I finally made my way over to Gorgeous Gelato the other day and here’s what I found:
— Less choices, but each choice is a sure win.
— Might be a little slow, but it’s not quite as crowded with tourist noobs.
— There’s a whole selection of desserts in the side freezer!
While the décor might not be as modern as the local competition, I enjoyed the charm that comes with this little shop. Their pistachio is also PRETTY AMAZING.
