This is my favorite Goodwill, I have been shopping here since high school (20 years). They have the best book selection hands-​down! I love books, so it’s kind of like heaven to me. I usually just buy books here but I noticed that in the linens section and furniture you can find brand-​new items from Target. They have them in the other sections too but sometimes I can find brand new sheets.

This is a great goodwill for vintage silver plate utensils, depression glass (pink is my personal favorite), silver do-​dads (is that a word?) and mismatched china. Between goodwill and estate sales I’ve pretty much outfitted my vintage/​elegant/​shabby-​chic wedding. What — you haven’t received your invitation yet? I’m sure it’s in the mail!
If you’re a stalker like me, you find the things you want and then hope they’re still there when they’re half off. I’ve gotten some pretty amazing deals — and you can too — just keep your paws off my pink depression glass!

This is the best Goodwill in Portland. You’ll likely see some interesting characters here, but the quality of shopping at this Goodwill is worth it.
The best thing, as others have mentioned, is their book section. They actually organize it by type and author. Amazing! They must sell so many more books than other stores since customers can actually find what they’re looking for.
Their furniture section is pretty great as well. Lots of new or gently used pieces. They are constantly bringing out new stuff.
The other parts of the store are better organized than other stores. Even the kids section has beanie babies sorted into piles. All the tie-​died peace bears are sitting right next to the other tie-​died peace bears.
We’ve never left here empty handed. Purchased a brand new home stereo system here, a brand new bar-​stool, multiple books I had been searching for, and other fun, miscellaneous items.
Oh, and there’s always parking.

Without a store like Goodwill I couldn’t survive. Prices have risen but so has everything else, so this is to expect, especially when I see how many good comes to so many disadvantaged people from the donations and the money that I spend there. If Christopher (see his one-​star reviews below) thinks that things are ‘crappy’ or even cheaper somewhere else — he has the choice to go to ‘non-​crappy’ stores and buy his stuff there instead of tearing down on Goodwill.

Great goodwill and great staff! Prices are fair. Love the toy section! Also their shoe section is pretty amazing.

I was here again today. It was $ 20 for almost any laptop AC adapter. Even the unbranded ones that are prone to dying after a week of use. Those things are less than $ 20 brand new. $ 20 or $ 30 for GPS units so old they probably haven’t had a map update this decade. Things are organized a little better than the typical Goodwill but the prices are a sick joke. Make a list of everything you liked looking around here, then buy it new online with overnight shipping for less money.

Overall the selection was there for almost anything needed.
Prices,… Even the sale tag (50% off) is still over priced on most items.
Found a lot I liked but left with a fraction do to the over priced items.
This place has a TON of cameras and lenses if that’s what you need.
I’d come back just not go out of my way again.

I spent more than I had budgeted for stuff I wanted/​needed. Go with an open mind and you’ll be amazed at the stuff you’ll find. The prices are higher than the Tempe, AZ prices than I’m used to without sale days but it’s better than buying new. Great place for toys and clothing.

I shop here pretty regularly, even after moving across town. The Goodwills that I live near don’t hold a candle to the Goodwill on 6^th! Even though it has BETTER stuff, the prices are also LOWER. For instance, a pair of Levi’s jeans at the Goodwill on SE Powell will set you back $ 10. At the Goodwill on 6^th, the same pair would cost $ 7 – 8.
The one section that blows at this GW is the baby clothes. Why even bother? For babies under a year old there are usually about 10 items per size, and most of the time they’re Target cast-​offs, which were probably cheaper on clearance when they were still at Target.
Shoes — AMAZING. I’ve gotten Danskos, Birkenstocks, Chucks, Born, etc… for less than ten bucks. The selection is HUGE.
Clothes (for everyone except babies, and especially women) — AMAZING. Turnover is wonderful and it’s like a new store every time you go.
Books — AMAZING. And super well organized. It’s like a mini bookstore.
Housewares — YES. I’ve bought glasses, mugs, plates, cutting knives, and various kitchen utensils.

Second greatest Goodwill in America. The book section is larger than most used bookstores, and with cheaper prices. If Portland thrifters want to see real heaven on earth, take the train north to the Seattle Goodwill on Dearborn. Until you do, have fun at this great store.

A nice, big «superstore» Goodwill location in Portland. The interior is large, clean, and well organized. They seem to have a lot of women’s clothing in particular, as well as a good art and frame selection. Like all Goodwills, they have colored tag discounts and special sales.
This store in particular seems really well laid out, with a feeder line and six registers that make the line move quickly, ample parking, and a nice covered donation dropoff area to the side of the building that you can easily pull into and out of.
Oh, and they have an awesome, big wall mosaic with a thrifting theme that’s worth a visit on its own! Definitely one to put on your list if you’re thrifting in Portland.

It’s almost not like a real thrift store because everything is so nice. Their shoe and bag collection is huge. (As a size comparison, Target selection times 3 or 4 or 5) It’s SO organized too! Unlike other thrift stores, pants and jackets are organized by size, and tops appear to be organized by color. Everything is priced accordingly. (Also, the book selection might as well be a library)

My favorite thrift store of ever and all time. It’s clean, it’s organized, and you can push the kid in a shopping cart and park in an actual lot. Wooo!
The Hosford Abernathy Goodwill is where the rich discard their stuff. Cheap is not the word for most of it. Less expensive would be appropriate. These are not basement bottom dollar deals for crap.
This store gets lots of corporate donations from Ikea and Target of brand new stuff, usually less than half of the sale price. It’s a good place for kid’s books, new area rugs, maternity clothes, last season’s sports performance wear, large art pieces, sleeping bags, linens, miscellaneous computer cords, and clothes.
Weekends here can be a zoo, and things tend to get a bit over picked and messy. Best bet is to show up on a Tuesday afternoon.

I stopped in on Day 2 of Portland’s 2014 Snowpocalypse. An employee asks «are you here for skis? Because we already sold out.» Good thing I was there for a sweater.
I have been to a number of Goodwill stores in four different states and feel fairly comfortable saying this is the best one I’ve seen.
The store is large. If you want a thrift store with large selection, this is a great option. They have a big, private parking lot. The store is clean, well organized, and brightly lit. Employees are outgoing and friendly.
Prices may be marginally higher than some other area thrift stores, but in my mind the experience is worth it. I’m a fan.

During my month in Portland recently I found those small items, not in the apartment I was renting, that make life a little simpler and a bit safer. Among my happy finds on my two trips to the Goodwill Super Store were an attractive glass lid for a frying pan, a mug, small plates, a perky pitcher in which I warm the milk for my coffee/​tea, cast iron and Corning cookware and small bowls. There were many other temptations, the most alluring being a framed oil painting of some flowers, that I really wanted to take home. Traveling by air, I just couldn’t do it; so, I took a few pictures of it to show my hubby instead. The price was only $ 10, but prudence won out that time. At least I was able to take that pitcher home and give the cast iron pieces to my appreciative son, who lives in Portland.
On my previous trip to Portland, I had noticed this store on my way to OMSI. [It is just one stop away on the streetcar.] Getting ready to go back to Pennsylvania, I discovered that my only case, a carry-​on, refused to roll anymore. This Goodwill Store had one large rolling suitcase for $ 20 which was able to contain the broken case and the extra items I had acquired during that trip. I have found it a very handy place to know about. It is also close to the Cash & Carry store where grocery bargains abound, often in greater quantities than what is found in supermarkets. These were two of the Portland stores that served me very well.
The restroom at this store is very clean, which was an important consideration having taken 45 minutes on the streetcar to get there and spending over 2 hours in these two stores mentioned here, not to mention my return ride to the part of town where I was staying. The streetcar back downtown is on the same block as this Goodwill Store. Senior 10% discount day is Wednesday.

This goodwill is quite large and full of goodies. Each goodwill is quite different from the others in some small or large way. This one rarely dissapoints me. They are centrally located and there’s lots of parking. It’s definitely preferable to the smaller stores.
I promise to go back soon with an eye towards sorting out the best from the rest now that everything has a Unilocal attached to it! But I started this one, and it was taunting me… so I had to complete the damn review.
I think this is the goodwill where I lost my beloved Blackberry phone… So sad. Left it sitting with the other phone crap while I looked for a charger. When I returned an hour later — it was nowhere to be found. I loved that phone.

As far as Goodwill stores go, this one is pretty damn decent. There’s a nice big parking lot out front, the store is fairly spacious and clean, and the selection of merch seems to have a decent turnover rate. While Goodwill’s prices on certain things have become way over-​inflated (ahem, glassware!), other items like hideous pieces of thrift-​store gold can be had for pretty reasonable amounts.
I used to source glassware and other gems from this location but that’s become way too picked over and expensive. Now it’s all about getting your hands dirty (literally) digging through the racks to score red fox onesies with fox faces (whiskers included) on the toes, or a fine silk leopard print robe with black lace fringe. $ 7 each. BOOM!
We popped some tags here, and it was good.

As far as Goodwill stores go, this one is pretty awesome. It is giant.
This store is like five Goodwill all in one location. Besides the many racks of clothing that occupy the majority of the floor, there is a large book section and an equally large housewares section. The checkout area is so big that they have the line area roped off like a bank.
Also large is the parking lot. This is not your typical Goodwill.
Unfortunately, it is a typical Goodwill with higher-​than-​average thrift store prices. At least this store has a lot of new merchandise, even candy and soda at the checkouts!

Super bright and clean Goodwill with a good selection of items and super nice staff. The parking lot is large and there is additional street parking if it is really busy.
The housewares section is where I ultimately spend most of my time, as well as the book area. Everything is pretty well organized and accessible.

This used to be a great Goodwill, but the prices are fucking ridiculous now. There is seriously some stuff in here that is priced more expensive than retail prices at Fred Meyer or Target.
I used to be a several times a week shopper, but I’ve all but stopped going in here anymore.
