I recently decided to start riding again, and I needed all new gear, boots, chaps, britches, & gloves. I was able to get completely outfitted at a very reasonable price. The service was amazing! I was hesitant on going to this shop because another Unilocaler described the shop owner as snobby, and me being a person with dreadlocks expected some hesitation/snotty looks. I was welcomed with a smile! I highly recommend this shop! Very affordable & amazing service!

This is a great place/great people combination! I live in the neighborhood, pass it all the time walking or jogging to Mt Tabor. *Finally* stopped in – now I know where most of my holiday gifts will originate.

After moving here from the east coast I decided to get back into riding. I went to Glisan St Saddlery for consignment items to get me started again. If you are looking for reasonable prices, do not go here. The owner is very knowledgeable but is also a want to be elitist. Really, $ 149 for USED breeches? They could have been $ 600 new, the fact is they are not new anymore. This store is trying to be like a Gallops in SE Portland but fail. It’s such a shame the west coast can’t be more like the east coast when it comes to riding, not elitist and the regular folk can afford it. In the future if you are looking for REASONABLY priced tack and clothing check out Side Saddle tack shop on Halsey(also Mary’s in Hillsboro is great.). I know I will not be returning to Glisan St. Saddlery due to the elitist attitude and over the top prices.

Very nice small tack shop with reasonable prices. The owner is so helpful and knows many trainers in the area. Great service over all!

My daughter is new to riding and we were visiting my old hometown and my daughter wanted to checkout tack shops. This was a lovely store with a definite docs on the female rider. The owner was delightful. We will definitely be back when we are in town.

Best tack store located close-in. I’m always thinking back to «the good ol’ days» when local, family owned stores were not only in the business of selling stuff, but were also a knowledge resource for the community. You knew that what you were buying would work, because the person selling it to you had actual experience using a product and was willing to stand behind the quality by selling it in their store. In these days of unhelpful and ignorant non-service at big box stores, the product knowledge provided by the folks at Glisan Street Saddlery exceeds expectations. I love going here and picking the owner’s brain — she is warm, kind, and passionate about what she does, and as Jane M noted, is supremely helpful. There is also a section of used riding clothing and you can consign your tack here should you have some clean items that are not in use. Hands down one of my best shopping experiences in the Portland area, and I’ll be a loyal customer for as long as I am here! Thank you, Glisan Street Saddlery!

Great dressage and general horse care/interest/clothing shop. The owner is supremely helpful and their prices are quite good. A gem for the equestrian cityfolk.
