Give & Take Resale

Being a long time North Portland resident I have been super excited to see the changes Kenton has gone through in the last 10 years+ When Give and Take first opened I can honestly say I jumped up and down! I would have given this place 5 stars for multiple reasons. Prices are great including their amazing selection of neat stuff. The owners are AMAZING and their little girl is cute as a button. The reason for the one star is because of the multiple horrible encounters I have had with one of the staff. It’s almost as if it’s a privilege to be in his presence. 1^st time maybe I could assume well maybe he is just having a bad day? 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th, so on and so on… I just can’t deal with the snotty attitude. Sorry Give And Take until I can feel comfortable again coming in to your awesome shop it. looks as if I have to seek out other shops like Cosign Couture or Button. I’m really am not trying to be a jerk here but you really need to reevaluate your staff member’s horrible attitude. It was hard for me to write this but necessary.

I can’t believe today was the first time I’ve been here! I work a block away and am so thrilled to find a place with great stuff at a great price. So excited! Selection is beautiful and people are warm and inviting. Will be back again and again.

I actually cannot believe that I haven’t rated this before today! I’ve been shopping here for a long time and am never disappointed! If you’re like me, and love to buy things second hand, but hate wading through crap and while you’re wading through crap finding that said crap is overpriced, then you’ll love Give and Take! Because it’s anything from crap! (I know, how eloquent).
Every time I go, I find something worth buying. And I think what I love about it is that it’s not insanely overpriced. The reason I shop second-​hand is because I’m frugal. I don’t think that everything you need should cost an arm and a leg. So when I find a shop like this with $ 5 dresses and art, cmon, it’s a no brainer.
In addition to being a great place to buy a gift (hint, hint), I also consign things with them for a credit to use towards new purchases. They only accept consignments on certain days now so call before you go to consign.
And if you’re like me, and got knocked up by your boyfriend accidentally 5 years ago and have a 4 year old, they have a play area for the kiddos with everything in it for sale. Just make sure you clean up after your rugrat. They are nice enough to host us families, so don’t screw it up! Thank you Give and Take!

I have come across some FANTASTIC finds here! It’s in a bit of an old, quiet part of north Portland, but definitely worth a stop-​by.

my daughter showed me this store and I never leave without purchasing something. Great prices, friendly people who make sure you are helped, and did I mention they have some great finds!

I found some cute vintage kitchen items for cheap! Way cheaper than the stores in sellwood or anywhere! Such a bargain. The owners were very pleasant and sweet. Lots of cool things reasonably priced. Will definitely be back periodically when I need more cute things to fill up my place with.

This is the kind of store you walk into and get inspired. They always have great, funky, hip stuff that makes me want to dress more expressively! And you can feel good shopping here because it’s green and affordable!

I consigned a pair of vintage earrings here a while back when the shop was just opening. I went back in to see if the earrings had sold or if I could take them back. The employee tried to look me up in their computer and my name was nowhere to be found. When I consigned, my name was only written down, not put in their computer.
I didn’t see the earrings on display so I figured they must have sold. The owner told me that after 6 months, the merchandise is forfeited: possibly given to donation. My problem with this is that I was never told this policy in the beginning. Otherwise, I would have made sure to go in before the 6 month mark. I wasn’t even in their system so how would they know if it has been 6 months or not?
When the owner got her computer system up, she should have immediately put me in there. She and her employee told me there was nothing they could do about it. No apology. I don’t even care about the money because she wasn’t going to sell them for much but it’s a pair of vintage earrings I lost due to incompetence. It’s the unprofessionalism, lack of communication, and shady business practices that will not bring me back here ever again, even just to shop.

Every time I go to the Give and Take, I’m greeted warmly by the staff (and Chelsea, the AMAZING owner).
I ALWAYS find cute, funny, or interesting stud for my house and garden.

Gooo find a vintage goodie, well price, lovely owner!

After multiple failed attempts to make an appointment at Rerun, I decided to take my consignment business elsewhere and found Give & Take in Kenton.
The staff are awesome, always friendly and great to work with. The shop is eclectic from clothes and shoes to art and kitchen wear. Although I find the clothing a little worn for my taste, I’ve found some great bargins and really incredible house wear items (like the fantastic lamp I found today for $ 24!).

I have shopped here probably five times already. This week, I brought some stuff in and they took four out of five items. For someone used to selling at snotty Buffalo Exchange, this was super exciting. Give and Take is the perfect mix of interesting and useful, with fair-​to-​excellent pricing. They are a great example of Portland re-​using chic.

Once you finish reading this first sentence, you’ll know why I gave this place five stars: I FOUND MY ULTIMATE FAVORITE DRESS HERE. For… wait for it… SEVEN BUCKS!
Chelsea has great taste, selection and prices. I also really appreciate the layout and attention to detail in presenting the shop. I live in SE and regularly drive all the way up north to visit.

My friends Chelsea and Dave own this store which is awesome, but I gotta say I would shop there regardless. They have such a variety: jewelry, clothes, cute kitchen stuff, furniture, antiques and crazy objects galore. Everything is priced so well, every time I come here I find something fabulous and well within my meager budget. I also love that I can take stuff here and get cash back for it! It’s like free money! Well done friends, this is a business I can get behind!

I dunno. I didn’t love this place. I couldn’t find anything I wanted to buy and they wouldn’t let my child use the bathroom. There are so many great thrift shops. I probably won’t go back.

This place is RAD! I found the worlds best lil’ green faux Chanel purse, cute new Franco Sarto heels and a kick ass jean jacket. AND they buy your old stuff at reasonable prices to validate you getting new stuff! The owner is pretty much the coolest person on earth too, take your business here!

Items to the front seemed more geared to women, whom I could see very happy browsing this shop. I’m a guy and still found/​bought a really cool velvet painting here, so it’s worth a stop through for everyone.

N Denver-​Kenton Is turning into a little hot spot with the stores :)

I breezed in this afternoon on my way to the library. This is a great resale shop located in the heart of Kenton. Chelsea Swanda the proprietress has everything from A to Z in this great space. Clothing, shoes, kitchen items and antique dressers. I absolutely love seeing new businesses in my neighborhood. I will be back in for sure!
