Garry Small Saab

I’ve been a customer at Gary Small Saab for many, many years. I bought a used car in the late 1990’s, a 1988 Volvo 240DL from them and have had it maintained and parts replaced since then by them. It started with 110,000 miles, now it has over 400,000 miles! Their service is excellent and the mechanic I’ve worked with over the years really knows his stuff! The parts are high quality, whether original or aftermarket, and the work very well done. They are top notch, so they do charge accordingly, but you get what you pay for, and so if you want quality work and parts, then I highly recommend them!

Really great service. Went here to have my Saab checked out for a oil leak and the mechanic found it no problem and didn’t charge me for the diagnostic. When I got the report back on what I needed fixed it was a little pricer then what a normal mechanic would charge but I expected as much from a Saab dealer. The waiting room is also.

I know I am always in good hands at Garry Small Saab! From the moment I purchased my 2001 Saab 9 – 3 I have received superior service! I would not trust my car in anyone else’s hands! Thank you Garry & all at Garry Small Saab for always taking such good care of me!

Have an old Saab? DON’T DO IT. I had to bring my 1989 Saab 900 in twice, because it would suddenly lose power and shut down while I was driving it. I was patient when the mechanics didn’t fix the problem the first time because they basically cut corners instead of doing the proper diagnostic work. They fixed 500 dollars worth of «corroded wires» (they WERE corroded, it’s true) and replaced a wire or two, but they didn’t bother to drive the car for a while to see if it would actually keep running. Needless to say, it didn’t. It did the same thing it had always done on my way home from the shop. I had barely left the parking lot. Is it so much to expect that a mechanic would perhaps test the car to see that the repairs they’d done actually fixed the problem before returning it?
So, I brought it back in. The second time around, they did the proper diagnostic work. Too bad it took them over a month to fix the thing, because they have all of one mechanic who works on older cars. The other is on extended leave, or something. In any case, they fixed the problem, for another 500 bucks, without being even SLIGHTLY apologetic about screwing up the first time.
It ran for two weeks. Now it is having electrical issues. Something is draining the battery. And while I know they couldn’t have foreseen this issue, and I don’t expect a mechanic to foresee every problem with my old car, I do expect them not to cut corners and make sure that a) the car is fixed when they give it back to me and b) that what they are going to charge me 500 bucks to fix is actually the cause of the issue.
I suspect that because I am unfortunate enough to have an old car (read: I’m not rich) and ovaries, I was put on the back burner as a customer. I am disappointed and frustrated, and I would rather tow my car halfway across town and take my chances than deal with these people again.
