Gabriel’s Bakery

So we just bought poppy seed bagels. It has been a couple of years since we have purchased Gabriels Bagels. The bagel use to have a good chew, but now it tastes like a roll. Did the recipe change?
Sorry, but I am not a fan of this poppy seed bagel.

I hope they start accepting credit cards at the farmers market. I’ve had to walk away from those delicious pumpkin bread squares way too many times.

I don’t care if they are bagels or not!

Every time I go, I tell myself I’ll try some thing new, but why when the alfajores cookie is so perfect. The dulce se leche is unique and rich, the Cookie moist yet crumbly. I buy two. One for right then and one for the road

I picked up a bag if their blueberry bagels from Fred Meyer this week. I don’t like bagels you can buy at the store, but hate spending money on them at local places. Just like other reviewers said, these are not your standard bagels. They have more of a thicker roll consistency. But they are goooooood. Toasted with some cream cheese… Yum! I’ll have to stop by their shop or look for them at a farmers market!

OK, let me address their bagels. First I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoy Gabriel’s Bakery Bagels. They toast well, they are tasty, and they make fantastic hamburger buns. Sure, from a purist’s point of view (and I *am* a bagel purist) they are not bagels. But they’re so tasty I’m willing to forgive them the name!
I just wish they were at the Oregon Square Farmer’s Market today because my whole dinner was planned around their onion bagels. 80(
Their other baked goods are very good too. Whatever you get from there won’t disappoint.

Gabriel’s Bakery is a frequent vendor at the OHSU farmer’s market every Tuesday, the day when I eagerly look forward to lunch time so I can get my blueberry almond scone from them. You can’t miss those scones. They sit inside a classic wooden framed glass case next to some humongous cinnamon rolls, croissants, muffins, coffee cakes, cookies, etc., seducing you with their elegantly pampered faces. For $ 2 – 3.5, you get a pastry the size of an adult hand (if not larger)!
Unlike generic baked goods that loom your senses with pounds of butter and sugar, Gabriel’s pastries turn out much more humble, consisting of nuts or berries mixed in whole wheat flour, baked till edge is crispy, and maybe drizzled with powdered sugar or a thin layer of almond glaze. I keep wanting to take one bite after another.
The lady told me they don’t sell any pastry at the store. Only way you can get them is from farmer’s market at OHSU (Apr-​Oct only) & PSU every Saturday.

People in Portland know NOTHING About bagels. What Gabriels sells is not even close to being a bagel. Calling them bagels is false advertising.

These are not bagels. These are fluffy burger buns with an indentation in the middle. Maybe, being an east coast Jew, my bagel standards are too high. Maybe if I had been given one of their bagels and was told it was a roll I would have found it acceptable. But calling these buns bagels is false advertising. Come on west coast! Someone please make a good bagel! I would have a very hard time believing that anyone who gave their bagels a good review has ever had a real bagel from New York or New England. This was a very disappointing lunch.

I found THE best coconut macaroons with chocolate. That was like having your first. .. . (fill in the blanks), this was @ the Parkrose Farmer’s Market.
I don’t like macaroons that much, but who doesn’t love chocolate! I’ve tasted other macaroons, elsewhere, but theirs just can’t compare. We also tried making our own version, by adding chocolate, but theirs is still BETTER! At least now, we can make them ourselves! Maybe, like any snacks, they taste better when someone does the baking/​cooking!

I have only ever tried the cheddar bagel too, but boy, was it marvelous. BEST bagels I have ever had in my life. A+++, highly recommend; totally worth every cent!!!

sweet sweet velvety loafs. By far the best bread I’ve ever had. AND the best bagels ever. I don’t know what the fuss is about those Kettlemans bagels, they are so super plain and boring compared to the Gabriels Bagels. They are kind of sweet and have a super amazing chewey-​fluffy texture. No price would be too high for this bread.

Every time I stop by the PSU Saturday Farmer’s Market, I get something from Gabriel’s. Usually it’s a piece of their large, inexpensive, phenomenal carrot cake that has some many nuts, raisins, etc. in it that I’m not really sure what holds it all together. If you like dem baked goods, Gabriel’s is a must stop.
