Fred Meyer

Unfortunately, I had a misfuel at this location. It was a new kid, and the one day I wasn’t paying attention he put gas in my Jetta, instead of diesel.
Regardless, I want to give a huge shout out to Bradley, the manager at the station, and everyone who works at the Burlinggame Freddy’s. They handled everything with extreme professionalism, and swiftness. Brad went above and beyond to make sure everything was covered, I got a rental for the entire time my car was at the dealership, and even bought me lunch while waiting for the tow truck.
Despite the unfortunate circumstance, the Fred Meyer customer service pleasantly surprised me in a world where customer service seems to no longer be a priority. It was refreshing, and renewed a new hope in my mind for businesses to hold themselves to higher standarsd. Thank you Bradley, and thank you Fred Meyers for being at the top of your industry. :)

Discovered I lost or misplaced my wallet at home and panicked. Retraced my steps in my head. Wallet last seen was at self check inside Freddie in the morning. At least 4 hours past and hoping I somehow dropped it at the store and someone found it and turned it in. Phoned and inquired, lo and behold, it was indeed turned it. Went to the store to retrieve it in the evening. The wallet was locked up with my cash carefully tallied (quite a lot) and secured in an envelope separately. Everything intact, nothing taken. Very impressed with the handling by the staff. Appreciative and reaffirmed that there are kind and honest people out there. Will pay it forward !

I have always liked this Fred Meyer for years. I am not a huge fan of the new layout. It’s weird that groceries spread across the entire store from front to back now. Guess I will just get used to it. I love the variety of organics and how you actually have how many organic produce are available. I love the variety of uncured meats, the fresh sushi and baked goods, your soups, sandwiches, EVERYTHING! I absolutely love the store. Thanks

I enjoy the changes that Freddies have made in the last few years — adding a more upscale deli, meat section and wine section! I left off one star because I’m not fan of the store’s layout.

And the award for world’s friendliest grocery store cashiers goes to… THESE GUYS!
I would assume that they treat their employees well because the check out line hosts are always friendly, chatty (the appropriate amount as well!), and chipper. It’s always a pleasant experience, even when it’s super busy!
They stock all of the essentials and more. Since I left the luxury of being within walking distance of City Target months ago, I have yet to have a problem finding everything I need at my neighborhood Freddie’s — including large dog food containers on wheels, picture hanging kits, iPhone chargers, chocolate oranges, vegan omega vitamins, and basil plants. Seriously!
I’ve visited other Fred Meyer locations around Portland but this one really stands out as being a delightful experience. And when I say delightful, I mean I am basically inspired to be my inner social butterfly each and every time.

The Fred Meyer here on Barbur is particularly swell. It has the usual for the supermarket chain, but so much more. To really comprehend how great this is, know that they have lots of parking, lots of world-​class cheese with a clearance box, samples, a Coca-​Cola freestyle machine, a Moonstruck truffle section, sushi and sushimakers, and much, much, much more.
Going here was a treat in which came out treats. I got Alpenrose chocolate milk for $ 1.19 and a thick slice of gouda for $ 1.49. It is on a hill, transit comes to this wonderland. A computer can scan items before purchase. The room when you enter is a mountain of shopping carts a big American flag up high. Deals are all over and this will appeal to any budget.

This is a review I don’t want to write. I like the people at Fred Meyer, but their pharmacy sucks. Big time.
I don’t know how many times I have asked them to STOP auto-​filling my prescirptions. Literally more than a dozen times, I have asked, told, ordered, and got downright snarky about it. Does no good whatsoever.
This may seem petty. Who cares, right? Well, the federal government cares. Pain medication abuse is a big problem, and they have their radar up looking for people who abuse pain meds. One «clue» is that people with a few months worth of advance presctiptions on file for a pain killer re-​order them the minute the insurance company will allow it. So when Fred Meyer disobeys my instructions and fills the pain killer without my permission, it could look to the feds like I am a drug addict.
If they get it in their mind that I am a drug addict, my pain will become a life of even worse pain with no medication to control it, at all.
Thanks, Fred Meyer, for making me look like I am desperate to fill my pain med scrip every month, which is NOT the case.
But when I need a aprescription for something else, they can drag their feet like no one’s business.
Rarely does a month pass that there is not some screw-​up on their part, and they give yo that look. THAT look — like you are a pain in THEIR arse, and making THEIR life difficult.
Sorry I have a severe medical condition, Freddy. I know it is awfully inconvenient for you.

Got my flu shot here today. No hassle and about a 5-​minute wait. Friendly staff and a clean store. I’ll return!

If I have a complaint, it would be that the store is so big and has so much variety that it is sometimes hard to negotiate. On the other hand, the store is large and has a huge variety of food and housewares. Freddy Meyer. Woohoo.

This Fred Meyer looks old and run down from the outside, but it is beautiful on the inside! It is clean, well organized, and well stocked.
Great selection of higher quality and specialty foods. I was definitely impressed with its wide variety of artisan cheeses and bakery breads.
Prices are higher, but it seems you’re paying for quality.
Produce looked great! And there’s a large organic produce section for all you organic eaters.
If i have the budget and I’m preparing for dinner guests, I’ll most likely return to Fred Meyer.

Parking is hard to find and now they are doing construction in the bottom lot taking away spots. Customer service is sub-​par. Bottle machines never work and produce is always being sold with mold or is out dated

Been coming to this store 4 years now. This store is convenient and has a good selection of gluten free items. The produce section has a nice selection of Organics too. The imported cheese section has decent variety, even if prices are high.
After prescription problems at both Walgreens and Rite aid I switched my prescriptions here and they have a nice cheap generic program that saves when you are without insurance.
Parking can be a challenge, but the service is 100 times better than the Tigard Fred Meyer, so its work the hassle.

If I didn’t live 4 blocks away, I would still shop here. In general, everyone is nice, the store is well lit and has a nice selection. The prices are good to great if you use their sales. If I had any knock on this store is the organization seems a little off. This is probably due to the physical location of the store, which I wouldn’t change.

This Freddy’s is just a large grocery store and a few household goods. Not a «one stop shopping center» like other Freddy’s stores. They also do not have as good of prices or sales as some of the others. Probably due to the location. I like how they remodeled the place while trying to keep the hometown feel. The floor plan is kind of confusing with the isles at angles so you can’t easily tell where you are in the store or which direction the exit is.

Blah. For a mid-​day Saturday trip, this was an underwhelming customer experience. Sure, they have lots of the fancy crap well-​moneyed Hillsdale patrons prefer, but every employee I interfaced with was carefully walking that line between helpful and brusque. Especially the lad working the coffee station — such an unfriendly barista, I almost thought I was back in Eugene for a moment!
Maybe this Freddy’s is designed, at a social level as well as a merchandising one, for snobs who can overspend but want nothing to do with the lessers that serve them. Maybe it was just an off day for the few employees I interacted with. We all have off days, of course. But experiences like this keep my preference for the Safeway a half mile south solidly in place.

We wanted to get some groceries whilst in Portland. We chose Fred Myer.
A tremendous amount of choices at this store, so much. The fruit was really great looking as well as the vegetables.
Prices were not bad either. You have to pay a deposit, On all bottles plastic and glass.
However, we could not find a place to redeem them for your $$ back very easily. So we gave them to a person who had time to do it.
Nice flowers and plants to purchase as well.
Our cashier was so sweet, we really liked her. It was a great shopping experience.

This Fred Meyers is smaller than most and is missing quite a few departments that are staples at other Freddies, like clothing. The reason they get a high rating is because of an impressive bakery section. When I say impressive, I mean out of this world. They have all sorts of delicious treats to fit any craving. You can come here every day and buy something different from the bakery, and still have new things to discover every time. Check this Freddy’s out. The best part: free samples of bakery goods at every turn!

Since the remodel several years ago it is much better overall. However:
1. I don’t understand the layout. You have to pass by kitchen appliances and kitchen ware to get to rest of the food. It’s like the food is in two parts of the store.
2. The parking situation is a bit odd. I have gotten used to it but the first time customer would get confused if they went during peak times and forced to park in the parking structure, especially if you are coming from the south and have to park on the top floor of the parking structure (unless you do a U-​turn).
3. The thing that really bugs me is almost every time I go to the store, which is usually during non-​peak hours, there are never any small carts. They are off in the parking lot somewhere. This happens almost every time. I have now learned to grab a small cart from the parking lot before going in, but that really shouldn’t happen. They need to have more of their staff out there rounding up the small carts.

This Fred Meyer’s will be great after they finish construction. There are still some thing’s to finish. I hope they reorganize the store a bit because you find yourself wondering the store looking for help. Before you know it, you have gone from cheese to soap to gift cards all within a 100′. I avoid FM as much as possible but I have a friend who lives near this one and find myself wondering why? Why am I at this store again? The parking has gotten better. By that I meant, it’s still an awful parking lot but it is better than it was.
Again. When you have few choices you go with that which causes the least pain!

This is the Fred Meyer that is closest to where my Son lives and plays. The attractive Retro sign is also a location marker for me. My visits have also been post-​remodel.
I stopped in recently for some grocery provisions, knowing that the Kid would be hungry back at the Hotel (even after Dinner) and that some wine in the evening would be nice.
Parking went well, as I correctly figured out how to get back there. The Store itself is nicely stocked grocery-​wise, but limited in the other non-​food stuff that other Fred Meyer stores carry. However, what it lacks in size, it makes up for in neighborhood feel and comfort.
