Warm, cozy, unique atmosphere… and most importantly fantastic coffee and entertaining owner. Our family of 12 is visiting from all over the country, and we stumbled upon this place to warm up for a few minutes. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Portland! Thanks for taking great care of us!

An attack on the senses: terrible panini(not good flavor, not even melted through), so so tea, gruff barista, freezing cold, terribly loud obnoxious music competing with neighboring restaurants loud music, clientele smelled like they needed a shower. Free wifi may be the only plus.

I went there this morning to meet some friends before a hike. I ordered a mocha and a breakfast burrito. I mentioned that I would just eat the insides as I am Gluten-Free(by choice). They offered to make a burrito bowl for me. People seem to snub their noses at those of us that choose to be Gluten-Free. I did not experience that here. I was really happy with the high level of customer service that they gave. Sometimes it is the little things that really impress. Thank You Flying Cat Coffee!

The owner, a woman(I assumed she was the owner) that seems to be there often is really warm and welcoming. She helped make this a memorable and nice place to come for me. A lot of patrons seemed to really enjoy holding conversations with her. She told me and other customers about the fact that she makes her pumpkin spiced lattes from homemade pumpkin spices and doesn’t just use fancy syrups that give the latte its pumpkin flavor like other coffee shops. She kept bragging about how it’s the best pumpkin spiced latte ever, and she wasn’t lying. It was really good and the vibe of the shop is super chill and relaxing. I was able to get a lot of work done while here. I definitely recommend this place.

Great location, friendly staff, good food and coffee. We love coming here. The breakfast and panini sandwiches are the best. The kids like it, too. They have a small activity that keeps them busy. The staff is always welcoming and attentive. There are large community tables as well as smaller ones. There are plenty of outlets available for charging phones and lap tops. One of our favorite places.

Great kids area and nice vibe for a coffee shop you can really chill at. Nice tea selection and great day old pastries if you are on a budget. Service can be a little slow if you order a breakfast sandwich. Love to rotation of art on the walls– usually is cat themed

Looking for a decent coffee shop with reliable wifi where I could sit down to get some work done in an enjoyable environment, I found cofee shop after coffee shop that closed at 3:00 pm, which was especially strange on a Thursday and in the middle of a district that constantly draws so many people looking for the distinct Portland foodie experience. Finally wandering into Flying Cat, I would never have known by the low key demeanor of it’s front entrance, that inside there was such a spacious, warm, friendly environment awaiting. The food was adequate, the coffee was up to pdx java snob standards, décor inviting, and the general atmosphere of the place and demeanor of the server made me want to stay long beyond the brief visit I’d originally planned. Oh yes, and the strong wifi signal allowed me to work without a single interruption, right up until their closing at 5:30 pm. Even if I didn’t live right here in the neighborhood, this place could easily become a favoured establishment…

I love cats. Therefore this place gets at least 3 stars for being cat themed. Bumped up a star since the girl serving us was hilarious and awesome! The coffee isn’t bad either. We appreciated being able to sit down as it was a Saturday afternoon and it was *busy*. My partner especially loved it there and we would both go again.

FLYINGCATROCKS!!! Jan and her crew are wonderful. Although I’m not a coffee drinker, I enjoy her edible creations. Great ambiance, comfortable atmosphere, friendly service. And from what I hear, you coffee drinkers are in for several treats!

Nothing terrible about this place, but I don’t really feel the need to return. I appreciate that they have good drinks, and I love that they use mason jars! The food is quite mediocre and for their selection of breakfast sandwiches, I thought it was something to look forward to. It really just tasted like a microwaved egg on a toasted English muffin, not even as good as I could make at home. The service was pretty mediocre and the general vibe I got coming here was that they could care less if you patronize the business or not.

We don’t recommend going here. I got a chai latte and my husband had an ice mocha. The chai was ok, but the ice mocha was aweful, it was burnt and bitter with very little chocolate. Plus it was served in a hot beverage mug. We also got a scone which was rock hard and inedible. We did like the flying cat theme though.

I’m bumping up Flying Cat to a rare five stars as they hit high notes in all the major categories. I enjoyed their wonderful — weekend only — breakfast tacos: scrumptious, filling and a steal for $ 4. And the homestyle biscuits and gravy were also a deal. I recommended the best veggie sausage sandwich to my friend and she concurred with the accolade. top marks for: food creativity, low price points, value(portion), cool owner, better than average espresso, seating comfort, breakfast sandwich quality, and non-business. My only recommendation is to offer raw sugar for coffee and a few hot sauce options.

Flying Cat Coffee is a really cute local coffee shop. The staff is really friendly and the breakfast sandwiches are great. The last time I visited, I had the egg, cheese and veggie sausage on a English muffin and it was excellent. I also like their soy lattes. Yum! One thing that I thought was really cute about this place is that they seem to like«The Oatmeal,» an internet cartoonist. They had the book«How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You» available for people to read and also the poster on one of their walls. Very funny stuff. Another thing that I like about this place is that the owner knew some of the people who came in by name. I love that because I love supporting businesses that are part of their communities.

Seriously — BESTLOGOEVER! I saw this coffee shop right after they closed for the evening and had to go back. The logo perfectly captures my cat Dobson — and I was delighted to see all the mugs, tshirts, entry rug, even a papier mache version of the flying black cat with a red fluttering cape and coffee cup in his outstretched paw! The coffee was delicious, the ambiance casual and friendly. A cute gal sitting on a nearby sofa joined in the conversation that my mom & I were having with the guy who worked there and we all shared cute cat photos. A great neighborhood gem — I look forward to returning — love the neighborhood and if I ever moved someplace for a business, it would be this one! Dobson would LOVE to visit!
