Specialties
Flower of Life Massage is a sanctuary dedicated to the healing and integration of your mind, body and spirit. Owner Becca Ellis is a licensed massage therapist with 15 years of experience and is highly skilled in a variety of techniques. Her healing work is based in a desire to create peace in the world, from the inside out. Through empathy and deep listening, Becca’s intention is to provide you with a customized therapeutic experience that is not only healing for your body, but also balancing for your emotions and state of mind. Emphasizing an intuitive approach to bodywork, sessions are a most often a blend of trigger point therapy, deep tissue, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, pranic healing and rehabilitative techniques learned while working with chiropractors for several years.
Becca begins each session with a brief check-in during which she tunes in to your physical, mental, emotional and energetic states of being. She receives information from your energy and body continuously throughout the session and adjusts her massage techniques to use the best approach to maximize healing in that moment. She guides your breathing to calm your body — to slow you down — so you are also aware of your body and present your own healing process.
History
Established in 2006.
Living in California at the time, Becca got her license to practice massage in California after graduating from college in the summer of 2000. However, she visited Portland in 2002 and liked it so much she wanted to move here. Oregon requires a much longer training period than California does, so after testing the waters in Portland for a couple of years to make sure she wanted to make it her home, Becca went through the Oregon training and obtained her license here in 2006 and founded Flower of Life Massage.
Meet the Business Owner
Becca E.
Business Owner
Becca has been practicing massage for 15 years, and feels very aligned with healing work as a cornerstone of her purpose in life. Her interest in healing and how the mind and body connect began while studying Psychology, dance and yoga in college. A course in acupressure was her first experience with hands-on healing and a particular catalyst for her.
In a sense, Becca brings a spirituality to her practice. She believes helping heal the individual ripples out to the community as a whole. One you feel supported and healthy, you in turn project peace and support to the people around you. This energy, if you will, helps heal the community and even the culture we live in. The energy is contagious and seeps into our way of being.
Becca still enjoys dance and yoga and is also an amateur nature photographer and watercolor artist. Becca loves photographing flowers and petals and other natural beauty and using her imagination to create lovely, dreamlike paintings.
