I like this place. The coffee isn’t the best in Portland but it’s pretty good. I think they have a good selection of lunch items like soups, salads, and sandwiches. I appreciate the free wifi and the casual coffeehouse feel of the space. The staff always seem friendly! I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here but if I’m in the area and need a quick bite or something to grab and go, this place fits the bill.

Josh might be one of the nicest people in Portland. He remembers everyone’s name and is friendly without being fake. They have daily specials that are almost always great. I really like that they have a free side salad that comes with the food.

Awesome place for espresso drinks and fresh made salads and sammies. They also have a grab and go deli case if you need something quick. A personal favorite is the breakfast burrito — order veggie and add bacon for the best of both worlds.

Organic coffee-check; local farms and local suppliers-check; dedication to environmental and social responsibility-check; delicious food, of course. It was getting kind of excessive; eating breakfast here everyday. They just have these epic breakfast sandwiches, and frittata done right, and it’s a no effort option if you like organic coffee and/or fresh local food. Casual, friendly environment, easy to carry out and pleasant to eat in. If you’re there before 11am try the breakfast sandwich with thick bacon, an over easy egg, and jarlesberg cheese on a potato bun. If you want breakfast after 11 the frittata is available all day. Yum!

I came here for lunch one day on a whim. The BLT sandwich — at a whopping $ 7.95 — was a tiny ciabatta roll with some bacon, a little spicy mayo and a little bit of lettuce. It was mostly bread actually and it was really the worst sandwich I think I’ve ever had. Unfortunately the customer service was a mess too, they served the person who ordered before me not only after me, but after someone else who ordered after me. And they managed to piss off another customer who had asked for a to-go order and they brought him a platter of food and had to pack it up. Maybe they were having a bad day or had some new people behind the counter, but the sandwich alone was such a rip off, I really don’t think I’ll go back.

GREAT food, and warm service… the Tuna Melt is very possibly the best Tuna Melt you’ll ever have(they grill it to a crispy-outside-tender-inside perfection). The hummus plate is really really good, with salad, warm grilled veggies, olives, feta & pita. If you need a ‘grab & go’ delight — the(asian?) noodles, chicken & lime salad is incredible. Highly recommend!

Ten in the morning. Door’s locked. The people inside just looked at me through the glass. Maybe today’s a we’re-just-a-hardware-store day. Or maybe they’re a front. .cleaning up money for the mob so they don’t need mine.

A bit on the pricey side, but the Caesar salad and chili is amazing! People are always very friendly, service is pretty quick. Good place to grab decent food on the go :)

I work nearby and go in a few times a month. Half the time I call ahead for a sandwich, other half I’m grabbing chais and what not for the office. Always friendly(like rather outstandingly so), always crazy tasty. Minus .5 star for having so many great things that just aren’t on the menu. When I come to pick up my food, the specials board and cooler have so many other great options I wonder if I’ve made the right choice. And minus another half star as I typically have to wait for the food to be ready even after calling it in and arriving at the appointed time. However, with all the fascinating stuff displayed around, the wait is not really a problem. Wait, I think deducting a star for these non-problems is silly. I’m bumping the review back up to five stars…

I work down the street from f&b — so I am a frequent customer. I order a sandwich usually for lunch and it’s always delicious. I would rate the food overall as satisfying. Mostly I go to f&b because of the customer service. Vincent is the sweetest, most big-hearted guy ever! He is constantly going above and beyond to make me and my co-workers feel special! I absolutely adore him!

Very cute little place. I orders a latte to go. It was pretty good. If I am in the area I might stop here again. It is more low key and quiet than some of the other places in the neighborhood.

BACKGROUND — I work around the Industrial District and aside from places on Water Avenue(Boke Bowl, BUNK and some other fancy scmancy place across from them that I haven’t tried), Pacific Pie, and Aybla Grill, I don’t have much of a choice if my means of transport is by my fat paws. If I walk a little past Coava, f&b café answers most of my desperate«omg I’m still hungry after lunch» drama. PROS — Walking distance. Delicious shortbread cookies with fun designs(I once had a blue sunglasss shaped cookie and I had blue lips and tongue the whole work day). They have good veggie wraps($ 5.50) that come with German style potato salad. The chicken BLT is also tasty($ 6.75). CONS — They still have veggie wraps but they don’t come with potato salad no more. :c At $ 5.50, I can walk to Aybla Grill and get their Veggie Mezza Plate for $ 7 and share with a coworker. This is just a distance/value comparison. POINTERS — So now all their veggie wraps are in their grab and go open fridge on the left side of the cash register — still a nice quick(healthy) meal but I don’t get it as much anymore.

F&B fills a necessary lunch hole in this neighborhood. There are may small offices, industrial businesses, and home shopping spots in this area, but not many places to just grab a good salad or sandy. I would be giving F&B a 5 for delicious potato salad and an avocado turkey panini that is declisious, sadly with one exception. Everytime I’ve ordered anything that is to come with avocado, that avocado shows up dark black. Just a straight up fail. Otherwise, lovely spot :)

The F+B Café is your basic solid little lunch place. They’ve got paninis, soups and a special every day(ranging from enchiladas to gourmet mac and cheese). The side salad dressing is particularly tasty. Their baked goods section is above par– cookies 6″ in diameter, cupcakes, muffins, scones, cakes– and they have a wide selection of coffee and tea drinks. Plenty of seating and a short wait time make this the ideal spot for a workday lunch. Just noticed one of the reviews below that brought up an important point– yes, the food is «kinda-fresh reheated», meaning it’s made fresh then brought it from another location. So when you ask them to hold the aioli on your sandwich, they can’t. And they have a limited supply, so they often sell out of the specials. Nothing is really made to order here, you either get what they’re offering or you don’t. But what they’re offering is pretty damn good, so… take it or leave it. I take it.

I’ve been a daily café customer here for over 3 years. When I started coming it was because it was close, the food was good and the coffee was at least hot. Over the course of those years the quality of the food and coffee has gone down hill. The food is all made at another location, then brought over to this location, its then heated up for customers — so its not made to order, its kinda-fresh reheated food. If it had some flavor it might be more passable. This was the first place i’ve had flavorless chorizo. Coffee: I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a coffee snob. I’ve had lots of good coffee and espresso. So I’ve come to expect that. When they announced that they would start serving stumptown coffee I was excited and hoped that the coffee and quality of the espresso drinks would increase. That has not been the case. I’ve had stumptown other places and its great — so its the machine or barista here. Do yourself a favor if you’re looking for a wonderful cup of coffee or espresso walk two blocks south on Grand to Coava coffee.
