Great for both lunch and dinner. I’ve taken clients here and appreciate the fact that it doesn’t get over-the-top loud mid-day. Also taken my husband for a date night. Solid menu. It’s not a knock your socks off kind of place but there’s something to be said for good service and food you can count on tasting delicious and being high quality.

EVERETTSTREETBISTROISCLOSED? We ate here just once earlier this year and found everything OK… good enough food and service to be happy we made the choice. Not so wow’ed that we wanted to rush back. But it was on our«give it a second try when we have time» list. Now time may have run out? According to Portland Food and Drink(info received today) sourcing Breakfast in Bridgetown(posting as of December 13), looks like Everett Street Bistro may have served the last meal at the current location? Apparent dispute with landlord and ESB has lost use of the space? Here’s the source posting, linked here:

Delicious frites, good drinks. After exploring a bit of Portland, we needed a cocktail. Everett Bistro was a perfect match. The drinks were very well-made. Our frites were excellent. If there had been more meals on my agenda, I’d love to have fit in lunch.

The perfect place for a tasteful late lunch on the way from the Alphabet District on to the Pearl nabe. Favorite Dish: Try the«Joe’s Special» egg scrambles.

This place is über-romantic, –for a brunch place. The crab cakes are delicious. I also recommend French toast here, which is a nice combination of crispy corners and a soft, sweet middle. Try the pink lemonade/grapefruit drink, it’s super sweet and tart. The service is decent, but it’s a little hard for you and your neighbours to get in and out of your table during peak times.

Horrible. the burgers($ 13) tasted like horsemeat and the steak sandwich was pitiful. Service was kinda slow, but not terrible… We had three sandwiches total, two desserts, a bottle of wine, NOAPPS or SALADS, a coffee and 2 cokes for get this $ 100 plus tip= $ 120. really…

Excellent breakfast in an awesome French neighborhood atmosphere. Stupmtown coffee and espresso, excellent scrambles with high quality ingredients. Fresh and soft euro quality bread. Awesome eggs-benny. My favorite b-fast spot in the Pearl.

The ugliest dish I have ever been served(pulled pork sandwich) by one of the most indifferent servers that has ever waited on me. Why chop the cornichons beyond recognition? Why not season the pork a little? And why, for the love of God, did you smear(gray) black bean paste all over it? To be fair, the baguette it was served on was lovely, as was the side salad. But at $ 12, this was a huge gross-out. And did I mention the indifferent service — right down to the server making a cell-phone call, seated at the table next to us, while we were waiting for our check. Will never be back.

Everette Street Bistro served up a big steaming plate of disappointment. Portland is known for brunch, and if you can’t deliver, it sucks to be you. First off — the portion size. I ordered a ham and cheese scramble with hash browns and it was $ 10. I love me a scramble, and most places in Portland give you a decent portion four around $ 7 or $ 8. This one was tiny — like one and half eggs tiny. And there was some serious gristle in my ham. Gross. And the Potatoes were equally as small. Last I checked, potatoes and eggs were relatively cheap — so why was the tiny portion so expensive? It certainly wasn’t going towards the service. I was almost embarrassed at how bad it was. When the restaurant is only half full is it really necessary to leave empty plates in front of a patron for over half an hour? Does is really take 45 minutes to take a dessert out of the case and put it on a plate? And to confirm the poor service, my friend and I overheard the table next to us complaining, too. Yeah, it looks fancy from the outside, but I doubt I’ll be back anytime soon…

I was expecting more. Should I blame ESB for that? Nope. I don’t think they’ve created any self-hype. But I have heard many accolades about this place, and when I finally made it in to try the food, I think I had a pretty high bar set for my dining experience. Unfortunately, that bar was not really met. I stopped in for breakfast this morning and went for my first-meal lodestar — a ham and cheese scramble(in this case, it came with caramelized onions) with hashers and toast. And a cup of coffee. God I needed that coffee. The other options on the menu looked tantalizing — quiches and tarts and sandwiches, oh my! But if there’s anything that every restaurant should be able to do well, it’s a ham n cheese scramble. My $ 10(yes, $ 10!) plate arrived and it was… good. White cheddar and ham scrambled with some sweet, perfectly caramelized onions. It had a nice sweet, heady flavor. It was greasy, and the eggs were browned(read: a bit overcooked). The small-ish portions of hashers was a tasty creamy/buttery treat, but fairly small in size. The toasted sourdough was flavorful and large. Overall, it was greasier than I expected, and while tasty, was not a generous portion for the price. Overall, 4 star food, but with price and size factored in(for such a simple meal), it was pretty much a 3 star breakfast(remember, that means A-OK in Unilocal speak). The service was pretty laser and on-point. I was seated quickly, my order taken quickly, and the food produced with haste. No failings there, whatsoever. So this raises the everlasting question — should my review be affected by my raised expectations of this place? I think not. But for the price, and for the quality, I’d have to say that even in the abstract I’m not sure I’d be running back for more. If I lived in the area, this would be a choice somewhere on my list, but not near the top. I will come back to try some of the other delicious-looking items on the menu like the French toast and the quiche, but as far as straight scrambles go, this one underperformed.

Great service, good food, cute place. Now to the good stuff. the freakin’ BURGER! In the last 3 months I have decided to eat only cage free certified organic and hormone free eggs and meat and because of this decision I know how much it costs to support local farms. Everett Street Bistro has a burger from Thundering Hooves farm in Washington: that is so unbelievably good you want want to eat anywhere else. Even if you like your meat well done please order this at least medium well. For the first time in my life I had a burger medium rare because i mis-ordered but i still gobbled it right up. I could tell all they did was grill it with a pinch of salt and a little pepper because all the natural flavors of the meat were phenomenal and were only enhanced and not masked. The fries were delicious as well.

I decided to try this place out when they offered a deal through Groupon for $ 25 worth of food for $ 12. I had always been curious about the place since in writing their menu made my mouth water every time I walked past their quaint location in the Pearl. My first impression was made when we were seated. The cushioned chairs, while beautiful, were covered in grime. I almost wanted a napkin to sit on. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Scramble with Leeks and Chèvre. It sounded amazing and I was really looking forward to it. What actually came out did not live up to the description. The eggs were watery, when scrambled the texture of the mushrooms turned to rubber. I could hardly taste the leeks. The chèvre, while adding a necessary punch of flavor just sort of ran into the eggs contributing to their runny texture. When I doused my plate with hot sauce it tasted pretty good, but it was nothing spectacular. If I had paid the full menu price I would have been more disappointed. For $ 9.50 the portions were small. I did not leave full, and usually I never finish what’s on my plate! On a positive note, the server was excellent and the toast was fantastic. I think this place has the potential to be as mouth watering as their menu would make you believe as long as they pay closer attention to the details and their execution.

Ambiance — lovely cozy place giving you that«Hampton’s» kinda vibe. Bathroom was clean and matched the total restaurant atmosphere. Food — Excellent for brunch! I enjoyed every bite of the eggs Benedict with apple wood bacon over spinach and grilled baguette served along side some delicious homemade hash! Service — Excellent! Server was prompt on a busy Saturday morning and was so gracious to give separate checks for a party of four.(A big plus in my book!) Would I go back? YES! I would like to go back for dinner sometime.

Do you like quiche? I mean, do you reaaaaally like quiche? Would friends tease you about marrying quiche? Do you no longer have friends because of your obsession with quiche? Then I think Everett Street Bistro might have the quiche for you. On the recommendation of a friend I decided to come to Everett Street Bistro for a light dinner. I thought the Nueske quiche sounded a bit rich, with its apple smoked bacon and mascarpone cheese… but it comes with a small salad of mixed greens, so it seemed like a good bet. When then they brought it out my eyeballs nearly popped out of their sockets. Not because I was surprised, mind you. Because of the gravitational field from this giant wedge of fluffy egg, savory bacon and creamy cheese they set down in front of me!(Seriously, look at the picture – I had to stand several feet away just to fit it all in the frame!) Their French onion soup was delicious, and I thought it would make a nice starter. Unfortunately I failed to communicate this to the server, who brought it out with the quiche. I was a little annoyed at that – watching all that delicious hot food growing steadily colder as I vainly tried to consume it all. Eventually the quiche defeated me – there was simply too much of it! But overall I thought the meal was excellent. To drink I had a delicious«Everett Street Car,» which was a concoction of bourbon, muddled limes, oranges and fresh orange juice. It was a bit sweet, but refreshing. I didn’t stick around for dessert, but it looked like they had a number of delicious things to choose from. I saw quite a few couples in here and with good reason – it’s a great spot for a date(and single tourists). I hope to come back someday and try their brunch!

Everett Street Bistro is a gem! French style menu with grilled artichokes, steak tartar, roasted salmon, gnocchi, soups and salads and a long list of classic cocktails. Had the gin and ginger and it’s a hearty pour. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Order from the menu or select meats and cheeses from their mouth watering delicase to go. Turn of the century building sets their scene with beautiful flooring, textured ceiling and classic lighting. A great place to wine and dine, have a date or simply catch up with good friends. We will definitely go back again to check more of Everett Street Bistro’s culinary treats.

This review speaks only for the Bistro Burger and Pommes Frites. The restaurant space is charming… a very European-style bistro setting. I wanted to like the food so much when I stopped here for lunch a couple of months ago. I ordered the Bistro Burger, which sounded amazing… ground piedmontese sirloin, grilled and topped with lemon aioli, avocado, bacon, lettuce, caramelized onions and cheddar cheese, served with pomme frittes. I thought $ 14 was pretty steep for a burger, but it sounded so wonderful that I had to try it. In spite of all the wonderful-sounding additions, my burger was bland… bland…bland. I could not even taste anything special about the lemon aioli. I could easily have mistaken it for regular, greasy mayonaise. The carmelized onions were also very bland. The cheddar and bacon barely boosted the flavor. Another thing is that it was all so greasy, so much that the bun started getting soggy from the grease before I finished eating, and I am not a slow eater. I have honestly had much better burgers for $ 5, let alone $ 14. The thin and crispy Pommes Frites were very nice though… homemade and very rustic… seasoned with roasted garlic cloves, rosemary and thyme. Given all of the positive reviews for this restaurant, I may have just selected a menu item that was having an off day. I do like the ambience of Everett Street Bistro very much, and I will return to try some of the other menu selections.

I did not enjoy this breakfast. We came on Sunday. First off, the coffee here was pretty harsh, way too strong and bitter. We ordered our food. I ordered the bacon fritatta. There we two orders of mushroom scrambles and pancake balls(I forgot the name). We waited and waited for the food. Yes it was busy, but we watched as others, who were seated much latter than us, were served time and again. My dish was supposed to, according to the menu, come with hash browns and toast. It came out with a salad. We were in a hurry, and I was getting a little hangry, so I ate it rather that sending it back. The dish itself was bland and smothered is marscapone. The bacon wasn’t even that good(that is a huge statement coming from me because I love bacon). I heard complaints that there were not enough mushrooms in the scramble. My wife seemed to enjoy her pancake balls. The service was slow, but at least they were nice.

I’d rate 85% I am rating this based on 1 dish only, so it’s skewed. Nonetheless, it was so awesome that I cannot refrian from posting a review. I love brussel sprouts cooked in bacon. It is my bar none favorite veggie dish(if you can call it that). Here, their brussell sprouts cooked with bacon lardons was the best I’ve ever had in my life! It was very flavorful. The bacon bits weren’t greasy, but had nice delicate chunks of fat in them. They were sweet and almost like eating candy. My biggest regret is not have it with a beer or two to go with it. I could have ate 4 portions of this wondrous dish no exaggeration! Ambience is pleasing in a subtle manner. Service was good. I got my bacon & brussel sprouts within 10 mins of ordering. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to come here for almost any occasion, unless you are on a shoestring budget. (I could not afford to eat here every day, as much as I may like to) Unfortunately, I was a tourist in a hurry, without the chance to sample other dishes. This is surely a good enough reason to come back & visit Portland!

Next time I want to truly break my fast with loads of down home buttery fluffy goodness, I just may head on back to ESB, but I may not. I’m not sure why I’m left so underwhelmed — perhaps I’m just a spoiled rotten breakfast brat, but with so many amazing options here in Portland, this corner bistro didn’t do anything to separate themselves from the many other A-OK options within a stone’s throw. This being said, the service was fast and friendly, the portions were enormous, the ambiance was bright and communal, and the food was both creative and delicious — a potentially dangerous combination that they pulled off with grace. Perhaps I’ll give it the ‘ol «it’s not you, it’s me» argument…

What a fabulous dining opportunity wasted. I had a great day in the Pearl planned and decided in advance to have lunch at Bluehour. I’d heard about it for years and a former co-worker was a bartender there and had some crazy stories so I had to check it out. What I didn’t anticipate was that it would be closed on Saturday at lunchtime. Everett Street Bistro became my Plan B. I remembered generally positive Unilocal reviews, but didn’t jot down any recommended items to order since I didn’t plan on eating there this time around. So I agree with other posters that the place is a charming French-style bistro. Small tables close together and a beautiful stamped metal ceiling. It was a sunny day and there were a handful of tables outside as well. I was greeted and seated right away by one of the large windows and my server was great throughout. What I didn’t enjoy at all was my meal. I wanted the quiche of the day, but they didn’t offer one(or perhaps they ran out). I chose their Nueske quiche instead(apple smoked bacon and marscapone cheese) and it just didn’t taste right. It was a huge serving and I lost all interest in eating it about a quarter of the way through. The mesclun green salad with herb vinaigrette on the side was basic, but fine and I enjoyed sipping water from the Bee glass. I think it is a case of ordering the wrong thing and since I was dining alone I didn’t get the vicarious thrill of someone else enjoying their meal. When I came home and read the reviews again there was some major forehead slapping going on… duh, I should have ordered that!!! Que sera sera…
