History

Established in 2002.

Dr. Ellen Michaelson spent a year in rural practice in the Dalles before moving to Portland. She joined the faculty at OHSU where she saw patients, taught and was Director of the Anticoagulation Clinic. She then began HealthMax in 2002.

Dr Ellen Michaelson graduated from Brandeis University and earned her MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Dr Ellen Michaelson did her training in Internal Medicine and Hematology in New York City. Dr. Michaelson worked at Harlem Hospital on faculty at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. A founding member of the Ethics Committee at Harlem, Dr. Michaelson was an NEW Fellow in Medical Humanities, has done advanced work at the Narrative Medicine Workshop at Columbia University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Writing at Pacific University.
