In 2008 Dr. Gruenberg spent almost 3 hours with me pressuring me to undergo chemo for breast cancer. He offered survival percentages with and without chemo. I happen to be in my surgeon’s office and told them about the long visit. My surgeon asked if Gruenberg had ordered an Onco-Type test which determines if chemo would be effective in my kind of cancer. The surgeon’s office was confused that he did not. They told me to contact him. I called Gruenberg and asked him about the Onco-Type test. He became furious, saying I could not accept I had cancer. He sounded out of control and hung up on me. My surgeon ordered the Onco-Type test. The test indicated I would have«0» that is zero benefit from chemo. Gruenberg would have cost me $ 80,000 and, 6 months of grief and illness. This Dr. is a smooth operator. He played the REALNICEGUY to get me to sign up for chemo. The worst part, is he plays on your fear and concerns. He just lied.

In the continuing saga of the DVT. I first ended up visiting Dr. Dan Gruenberg in September of 2008. My new primary care physician indicated that she didn’t like the sound of my last primary care doctor’s diagnosis regarding my leg and referred me to Dr. Gruenberg. Dr. Gruenberg is the genuine deal. He comes in to the office and introduces himself and tells you that you can call him Dan. He’s not hung up on the whole Dr. thing. Yes, we all know he’s a doctor but he’s a regular guy too. I like that about him. We worked on many therapies for my DVT and finally as of today, I’ve been released from his care. However, I told him he’s still part of the team. As I joked it takes a team of doctors to keep me going. I felt like he knew what he was doing and what therapies to try. He’s an oncologist as well as a hematologist. Most cancer doctors also know their blood work as well. One thing is you have to keep checking back for your results. They will not often call you with them. So, if I had to improve in an area it would be there. Highly recommend.
