Specialties
Our philosophy is to enrich children’s lives with creative arts and accredited educational materials while developing self esteem, confidence and a sense of independence. We believe strongly in a program which exposes children to a creative way of learning while experiencing arts, music and dance in an educational and visual environment. We are interest based schools, which means we like to discover each child’s interest in arts, music, dance, science, etc., and offer these activities in a supervised setting.
History
Established in 1997.
Our Gateway school features the largest private play area in Southeast Portland with over a half of an acre, park-like setting for the children to play sports, games and enjoy our new playground equipment with their teachers. We offer a children’s garden as an opportunity to explore science skills at both schools. We offer field trips to educational places such as the Oregon Zoo, Omsi and Children’s Museum to bring our classroom to the world around us. Fresh and healthy meals and snacks are offered during the day. We have a state of the art video surveillance system throughout our schools and coded entry systems for our families.
Meet the Manager
Kayla N.
Manager
Kayla is our Gateway School’s Site Director. She chose CMLC for several reasons; She loves the positive and fun environment, the art program, the specialty classes and the healthy menu options. She likes how the curriculum focuses with hands on learning. She likes working with kids because of how honest they are and how eager they are to learn. «It’s the simple things that amaze them» says Kayla. «They are always saying silly things. I love watching them get new concepts and it is amazing the growth that you see in such a short amount of time.» Kayla has many experiences working with kids throughout high school and college. Kayla graduated with a degree in early childhood and elementary education. Kayla hopes to continue to grow in her teaching with CMLC and the children.
