I wish I had found Steve and Cost Plus years ago, I think it would have saved me a few cold nights and a lot of money. We were yet again without heat, and other repair shops were offering a one-​week wait. Steve was at my house in less than 24 hours. After making friends with my dog, he took one look at my system and knew exactly which part needed replacing (just about the only replacement part my old shop HADN’T sold me). He meticulously cleaned and serviced my furnace at no extra charge — dusted and vacuumed every nook and cranny and did a high-​tech video inspection of the inner chamber — and advised me on how to care for my system to get another ten years out of it. The invoice for the complete visit was less than another shop would have charged for just the part. This gentleman is an old-​school tradesman, with integrity and skill. We are cozy and warm again, and while I’m pretty sure our broken-​furnace days are behind us, I know just who to call.

I could not have asked for a friendlier and more speedy service. It is freezing outside and He came the same day I called! Everyone else I called in town told me I had to wait almost a week to get serviced to have heat again. Thank you SO MUCH, Steve. Thank you for keeping my family warm this cold Winter.

Really, you won’t find better. Steve has been my furnace repairman since I bought my house 15 years ago. Two nights ago, my heat went out. Steve was at house today, immediately determined the electricity was out to the furnace, fixed that with a fuse, then proceeded to take apart my furnace, cleaned it, tightened loose couplings, replaced the pilot light, and charged me $ 200 less than any other furnace repair quote. Steve is a highly skilled, fair and trustworthy guy, a terrific choice for single female homeowners concerned with safety.

This is seriously belated, but a HUGE shout out to Steve at Cost Plus Heating on Fessenden. Our water heater went out on a Saturday am, he contacted me 15 minutes after I sent my email on a Saturday am no less, walked me thru options of replacing with a water heater, going tankless, energy source options the whole deal. He doesn’t install the option we decided to go with and referred me to someone who could do the repair. We so appreciated his time and expertise, would definitely recommend them!

Steve helped us select a great unit, installed it, and gave us some great advice on how to maintain it without calling a guy for yearly ‘checkups’. The price was very reasonable too. He has a ton of great reviews and a successful business for a reason.

I called four different companies and decided on Steve with Cost Plus for two distinct reasons
1. Due to my work schedule, he was willing to come give me a bid on a Sunday while with the others I had to take time off to meet with them. Having experience with Contractors-​it really says something when they are willing to work on a sunday
2. He was the most reasonably priced out of the four bids I got and even decreased his bid when I changed my mind from putting the furnace in the basement to installing in my attic. Two others did not.
Once the work started-​he noticed venting from my stove to the attic that was not completed. He completed it for me.
I am very happy with my choice and Steves team and communication with me was perfect.
I could come home from work everyday to a clean house, see the progress (only took 3.5 days) and NO PROBLEMS.

I saved $ 1000 going with Steve than going with Sunset or Jacobs and furnace works great! I’m warm every morning now.

Cost Plus installed a gas furnace, gas logs, water heater, and air conditioner for me, and I couldn’t be more pleased with their work. I found them to be knowledgeable and honest, and they gave me excellent information about my options and costs. Their price was very reasonable, coming in significantly less than another bid for equivalent services and equipment. They were prompt, thorough, and cleaned up after each day’s work. I appreciated that they did all of the paperwork required for approvals and rebates, making a complicated process very simple for me. This is a family-​owned and run business (father and son) that has been around for a long time, and I recommend them highly.

I had a great experience. He was prompt, reasonably priced, and didn’t complain when he had to come back 3 times due to other contractors being in the way or complicating the job.

Honestly, Steve and his son were so wonderful, I almost wish I had more work for them to do on my house! My furnace unexpectedly broke in the middle of winter (of course) and after getting what felt like a million quotes for a replacement, Cost Plus was my choice. Steve is a straight shooter and told me exactly what I needed and I never felt pushed into anything. He was patient and explained anything that I didn’t understand without ever making me feel dumb. The install was fast and efficient. Couldnt’ be happier and won’t hesitate to recommend them to everyone and anyone.

Steve installed our furnace and water heater in 2008 and we’ve never had it serviced. It’s worked perfectly the whole time.

I responded to an advertisement from NW Natural offering discounts if I switched to a gas furnace. Steve with Cost Plus Heating was the contractor that arrived to do the estimate. He did a thorough estimate and spent time with me explaining the tax credits and different furnace varieties. He did not try to hard sell me. This was back in 2012, and I decided not to get a furnace at that time since I still had a lot of oil in my oil furnace tank.
Fast forward 2 years to 2014, I finally ran out of oil. I called up Steve on a Sunday afternoon to ask if he could update the estimate. He was over in 15 minutes, updated the original estimates and even honored some of the outdated prices. He prioritized us and had his crew out the next morning (Martin Luther King Day) at 8AM. His crew was hard-​working and polite, took care to not damage our floors or possessions. Work was completed Tuesday, then he had the inspection completed Wednesday and we had heat Wednesday night. We were only out of heat for 3 days even though we were expecting 7 – 9 days. He also put in a gas water heater for us.
Steve was flexible, even coming to our home at 6PM to go over paperwork and show us how to use the furnace. The price was reasonable. Working with Steve and Cost Plus was a pleasure and we would recommend them to anyone. He seemed to take a personal interest in our well-​being– getting our heat on as fast as possible and taking measures to make sure we understood the machine we had installed, and to make sure we receive all available tax credits.

Great at taking your money… did a great job invoicing and ensuring I would get my tax credits. However, now that the sale is done the service is horrible. 6+ phone calls about a gas odor in the basement (around the furnace). Nothing done yet. I will call someone else… and do not recommend these guys at all. Gas smell coming from the $ 5000 furnace you just installed??? One would think they would respond.
