Cornell Cobblers

After seeing the positive reviews, albeit from 2 years ago, I thought I’d try this place out. Bottom line-don’t come! I came to drop off some shoes on Wednesday, during opening hours however the place wasn’t open even though it had an open sign and I was well within their open hours. I even called the store but no answer. I was walking back to my car when another lady shared her experience with me. She had tried 3 times to get her shoes back but apparently this happens all the time. She said the old owner was fabulous but he passed away and whoever took it over wasn’t good. I’m so glad I got some insight from a helpful samaritan.

Cornell Cobbler has consistently done a fantastic job with my tap shoes (screwing new taps on, building up, refilling the screw holes) and gets it done fast! I have taken shoes elsewhere (to cobblers in downtown Portland) and haven’t had the luck I’ve had at Cornell. Will be back again.

I had been to another cobbler closer to my home for work on some heels. Cobbler #1 installed a cushy footbed, but it cramped my toes. A repeat visit and he still couldn’t fix it (he tried stretching the shoes). I came by Cornell Cobblers to see if there was anything they could do to fix the fit problem.
Cornell Cobblers had a novel solution– shave down the new footbed (instead of stretching the shoe which was the first cobbler’s failed idea). And he did it on the spot and didn’t charge me anything for it!
Bonus: the man at Cornell Cobblers was nice too, another big improvement on cobbler #1.
Bottom line: this place is the real deal– much better knowledge of shoes. I don’t care if it is farther from my house – I will come here for all my future shoe repair needs.

They made my 7 yr old leather boots look brand new and the price was very reasonable.

It’s hard to find a good shoe repair shop and this shop is great! I took by grey boots to a downtown Beaverton shoe repair place and they told me they could not remove the blue pen mark from the leather. I took it to this shop and they said they would try to get it out. When I picked them up I couldn’t even tell or remember where the marl was– amazing! I have since gone back a few times and have always been impressed. I will never go anywhere else.
FYI– they only take cash or check, no cards.

These guys fixed my wifes shoes! And they were European shoes that were hard to fix to boot!
However, one time I tried to stop by to pick up said shoes and while the sign said open and it was the middle of the day the door was locked. That is OK though, I figure it is a very local place… Kudos to them for fixing them shoes though!
