Specialties
I offer individual, couples and family counseling services. I specialize in serving those whose lives are impacted by chronic illness, grief and trauma.
I embrace a strengths based, solution focused and integrative style of counseling that relies upon both empathy for and understanding of my clients and their circumstances. In this way, I believe it is important to understand what my clients see as essential to effecting change in their lives as opposed to what I believe to be the answer to their problems.
History
Established in 2010.
In 2010, I completed a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College’s Graduate School of Education and Counseling and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Oregon (C3409). My internship during my Masters of Arts program was at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Portland, OR, where I served as a counselor with the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team. In the past I served in a volunteer capacity at the William Temple House as an intake counselor with the social services and mental health case management services and as a student mentor with the ASPIRE Program of the State of Oregon Office of Student Access and Completion. Most recently (2011 – 2014), I worked at ProtoCall Services, Inc., as a Clinical Specialist II, where I provided crisis intervention and brief therapeutic support and intervention via telephonic counseling.

Colin M.
Business Owner
I am faced with the challenges of adapting to a life saddled with physical disability. In April 2005 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. These challenges, and the perspective they engender, are invaluable tools in my work as a counselor. Essential to this experience is the therapeutic work I have done, and continue, with my own counselor. By recognizing that the anger I feel is at its’ source sadness for my current situation and for the things I have lost, and fear of what the future will look like, I can allow myself to feel the emotions that are gripping me and validate their presence in my life. The goal of this is to have our emotions without being had by our emotions.
I believe it is within the adversity, change, grief and loss of life’s challenges that we can find strength, power, understanding and wisdom.
