Chase Bank

Audrey was super helpful and very friendly. I have come in here regularly and have never had any issues and everyone has been helpful. I would recommend this location. I only hate the driving in and out… Getting out in 39^th or hawthorn!!! Yuck!!!

I love this bank! They give incredible customer service. I recently made a math error and incurred some overdraft fees, and they happily refunded them even though it was my mistake. They also explained things like online bill pay that will help me avoid the same problem in the future. I’ve never been so happy with a bank!

I guess I got lucky. I just moved here a few weeks ago and with my welcome to the city mail, I got an offer from Chase. Open a checking account, get $ 125.00. Can one pass up free money? Nope.
I dealt with a good guy, even though the branch was having computer issues that day. Long lines for the teller, but he had me in and out fairly quickly and now I have a new checking and savings account here in Portland. Most all of the review on here are fairly out of date. As for the overdraft, they only charge $ 10 vs $ 35 if you don’t have it.

The manager at this branch is awesome and so is the rest of his staff. The teller, banker, and manager completed all my transactions with humor and smiles. How refreshing!

Sufficient.
The money goes in, the money comes back out, the location is clean, the people know how to do their jobs.

I started to refinance my mortgage here and they made a complete mess of it from beginning to end. The documents were sent out with incorrect figures, the mortgage rep was unavailable for over a week at a time, the passwords to access their website with all of the mortgage info were not set correctly, etc. I was surprised how unprofessional they were.

I was a WaMu customer and while I was promised things would stay the same with the switch over to CHASE, it didn’t quite happen that way. Slowly I started seeing changes happening to the regular «rules» of banking and now we are at the point where nothing about the WaMu rules still stand for us veterans.
This branch has actually been pretty good to me. If you are going to go with Chase, make sure to decline the over draft «protection». All it does is over draw your account and then charges you an extra $ 35 each time you overdraft. They make it sound like it will help you because you won’t be declined but the fact of the matter is that your purchases will go through and you will be charged an additional $ 35 per charge, even if you go over by a few cents!
To specifically address this branch, the employees have always been helpful to me, friendly and I have never had to wait for very long in any lines.

I was a long term Wamu customer forced into Chase. Other than having so many additional branches, they absolutely stink. Their fees are outrageous. They have a perennially sick, sniffing, coughing employee at their Burnside branch who always HAS to shake our hands. They can’t manage the simplest of transactions without throwing a host of options, incentives, complicated rules at you.
I am happy they will start charging a checking account fee in February, because it gave us the incentive to finally close all 4 of our accounts. We’ve moved to Unitus credit union. We’re happy. My last step is to close my Chase credit card, which I like because of the points, but I just have to put my money where my mouth is.
It was a NIGHTMARE to close the accounts. Real statement by them: «You can’t close your account because you would be withdrawing your balance and that is considered a transaction. An account can’t be closed if there is a transaction.»
Another account took me 4 tries — 2 phone calls, there was a pending 10.00 debit that took forever to clear, they suggested I could close it by e-​mail, after it cleared. When I tried that they sent me an e-​mail back, oh, no, you can’t close an account through e-​mail. Then, just this morning, I called again and had to go through 3 account specialists before they finally did what I asked them to; they asked me weird garbled security questions that between my cell phone connection and their fast Hispanic-​accented English game out like nonsense. I was screaming and cursing on the phone, I haven’t broken down like that in years. This is for an account with .39 cents in it! (my son’s) I swear their business plan is to create so many barriers you’ll give up trying to close an account, they then can charge the fee, with any luck it will cause you to overdraft, so you get hit with more fees, and you can’t close it because of the negative balance due to their fees.
I will say they always stay calm and collected, they probably give their employees Prozac injections every hour to be able to enforce their corporate policies and fees.
I’ve NEVER used Unilocal until this. I just had to let out my steam in some fashion.
GO TO A CREDIT UNION !! There is a large ATM network, I can deposit and go to other credit union branches even. Their fees are less and they have a great interest rate on car loans right now too.

To Hell With Chase!
I first joined Chase when WaMu got «acquired» and I had no problems. My free checking was the same, they had a ton of ATMs and locations, no problems, right?
Then 2 months ago I get this letter that says their free checking now has stipulations that require you to have an average of thousands of dollars in the account, and have a minimum balance, otherwise they charge a monthly fee just for having the account! In addition to the ridiculous fees that others have mentioned, I no longer consider this a viable option.
I still have my credit union account and consider that the most socially-​responsible banking option.

This is for the Milwaulkie branch on Main st. Real nice people, almost never crowded, but not open on Saturdays. Argh.

This is not the place to be on Friday afternoon during lunch time in the first of the month.
The bee line was really long and all types of Portland peeps are there. From hippies, Abercrombie dudes, Chinese grandmas, Russian peeps, Moms with crying kiddos, Chicks who could be possibly be are strippers (based on the strippers shoes), Freaks and Geeks (Not the tv show) are all in this WAMU.
Two stars because they are open on Saturday. Besides that, maybe best to come after 5 or right before they are open…
We all learn from our mistakes… so that’s what I’ll do next time…
