Catch a Piece of Maine

We ordered at the last minute the day before Christmas Eve and everything promised was delivered. My wife and daughters absolutely enjoyed the live Maine lobsters. Job well done!

Ordered six lobsters online to surprise my parents after they moved away from New England. Very reasonable prices, easy ordering process, and high quality lobsters arrived on time. Just received our shipment of lobsters and steamers all the way to California. It was a special treat. The prices were reasonable and the shipment came early in the day Saturday so we could plan our lobster feast appropriately. Definitely would go through them again!

I wasn’t sure what to get my sweetheart for his birthday, but I always remembered him telling me how much he loved lobster! Being that I am in New England and live Maine lobster is the best in the world, I decided a live Maine lobster would be an excellent present to have shipped to my honey in California! It was perfect. He loved it. I ordered him up the jumbo lobster. The lobster was sweet, succulant, and delicious.

I visited at least 5 or more other websites offering fresh live Maine lobster but this one in my opinion looked the best. There is plenty of literature and a youtube video to watch on how they catch the lobster right on the boat, box it up nice and fresh and ready to deliver.
The perishable package arrived on time and the lobster came in a styrofoam cooler wrapped up nicely in seaweed. My sweety nicknamed his lobster «Charlie». Later that evening he steamed and devoured Charlie. The lobster was such a big hit, he told me he could of at least ate 3 of these suckers thats how good it was. A few weeks later he ordered a couple for his brothers birthday from this same company.
Next time I will be ordering the 6 pack of lobsters for my love. Again I highly recommend this place!

So friendly and helpful! We wanted to send close friends and family a taste of Maine and this was just the place in mind. The lobsters arrived on time, alive, and were just what we wanted. During the ordering process I had a few questions and they were very prompt in responding to my inquiries. The personal touches from where the lobster was caught is a nice touch.
I only wish they had a retail store I could visit. Definitely using them again!

Great Maine company! I grew up in Maine and now live in Chicago. I wanted to throw a classic lobster bake for my Midwestern friends, so I ordered 30+ lobsters, 30+ lbs steamers and 15+ lbs of clams. Everything arrived on time, alive and it was delicious. The customer service was great when I needed to adjust the order I originally placed. I did experience a bug with their checkout process, but I had not trouble connecting with their customer support to get everything sorted out. Highly recommended!

My mother had her 80^th bday and could not make the trip up to Maine this year. I never tried to send lobsters since I always had them available but I wanted her to have fresh lobster and steamers. I sent the large 6 pack and 2 pounds of steamers. She called and said it was the best present she ever had. She said they arrived in seaweed and not so much as a single clam was broken. I really appreciate the care taken to make a present to someone special. Some corporate type might send any old thing any old way but I was glad for the care taken. I would hope the fisherman’s cooperative could negotiate a better delivery charge since they claim to ship «thousands of pounds of seafood» — why not work a deal with the delivery people rather than putting it on the customers… but hey, as long as we keep paying the freight, I guess there is no need to put themselves out there.

There are several companies that ship lobster and other shellfish from Maine to other American cities. They’re all reasonably expensive — after all, they’re shipping live lobster, clams and other things directly to you. You can’t really judge them on price — but you can judge on quality.
THis is the best of the bunch. THey will ship lobsters, crab claws, clams, mussels, shrimp and other locally-​caught seafood directly from their shop (right across from the dock on the Portland waterfront) to you. The lobsters always arrive alive and healthy and clean, 24 hours and sometimes less from when they were caught. For under $ 200 you can have 4 1-​person-​sized lobsters and a pound each of mussels and clams and crab claws, as well as bibs, shell-​crackers, wetnaps and a picture of the fisherman who caught your lobster with a personal note and a map where he shows exactly where and when yours was caught. In fact, lately, they’ve sometimes offered this as part of a groupon for under $ 150, which is a fantastic deal (it includes overnight shipping).
We got the 4-​lobster and misc. shellfish selection as a 10-​yr anniversary gift from my parents and it was one of the best gifts we’ve ever received — we enjoyed it with 2 friends and everyone had a fantastic time.
I will absolutely use Catch a Piece of Maine again in the future.
