Bessie Day Salon

Bessie Day is my hair’s home away from home! I’ve followed Kyle for years ever since she was at Aveda School and she’s the artist and friend I always dreamed about finding. Fantastic skills and a rad personality– getting my hair cut and/​or styled is something I really look forward to with Kyle at Bessie Day.
The salon is super cute and stylish and the location is perfect for making a day of hanging out on NW 21^st & NW 23^rd.

There’s something about Courtney Hunt that makes you want to trust her with your hair. I’m not sure if it’s her Zen presence that calms even the most neurotic of customers (me) who can only ever tell her what they (I) DON’T want, but are no help whatsoever with the planning of what they (I) DO want. Courtney always comes up with the perfect plan and excecutes it flawlessly.
Or maybe it’s because you can go in with a picture of a hairstyle you might want something vaguely like, and she somehow makes it turn out better than the picture.
Or perhaps you need an up-​do for a special event (or just because it’s Tuesday and you’re fancy, darn it!) and you walk out looking like a million bucks.
Or (last one I promise) you get a wild-​hair (get it. ha.) that you want a mohawk and you do it! And you don’t even miss the fantastic up-​dos (well ok, sometimes you do. They were great) because now you have the coolest every-​day hair and it only takes 5 minutes to style because of your terrific haircut, and the awesome Aveda products you bought from Bessie Day Salon!
Now let’s talk about her salon. It’s so amazing! Talk about a super-​cute piece of vintage-​chic heaven! It’s a hop and a skip from trendy NW 23^rd Ave, so you can make a fancy day of it. Or, if you need something quick and in-​and-​out, you’ve got the 405 freeway about a t-​minus-​2-​minute drive from the salon so you can be off to your next adventure on the quick!
I can’t say how much I recommend Courtney and Bessie Day Salon (even though I try). Go visit her today and let her make your hair the best it can be!

Kyle is awesome! Very intuitive, in terms of knowing exactly what I want without me having to say too much. The Language of Hair Styling is mostly beyond me, but Kyle gets what my inarticulate mumbling means.

I followed Courtney from her first salon to her second, and I followed her to her own space, Bessie Day. She’s put her heart into this place and it shows. Any cut, any color, even any product you need, and she has it. If you don’t know what you want? Courtney will guide you to the right look for you. My hair, left to my own devices, is an unmitigated disaster. Every time I leave Bessie Day, I’ve got my groove back.
Today, I stopped in for a cut. It’s been a bit and my hair was frizzy and unkempt — the usual for me. Courtney tamed the beast and found a hairstyle that fit my current beard-​growing mood. I’ve seen her work on others, and it’s always up to the same high standard, from complex cuts and colors to extensions to wedding hair.
In almost no arena is the axiom «you get what you pay for» more true than in hair. You could go to Supercuts, pay $ 11.95 for a haircut, get rushed into and out of the chair, and leave, with a imperceptibly heavier wallet and looking like a schmuck with a $ 12 haircut. Bessie Day Salon is worth every penny: personal (and personalized) service, attention to detail, and a passion for hair. You’ll be doing yourself a favor.

Courtney has been cutting my hair and my mom’s hair for a while now. She is great! She will listen to what you want for your hair and make it happen. The salon is a relaxing environment– very clean and it smells great. Plus, this is an Aveda salon! If you are looking for a new salon, I would highly recommend Bessie Day salon.

When Courtney opened Bessie Day I had no choice but to follow her, even though it’s all the way across town for me, because I love her that much! I wouldn’t drive all that way for just anyone but we have been through a lot together– She has cut my hair from a bob to a pixie cut, dyed it dark, bleached it blonde, basically you name it and Courtney has done it to my hair. The amazing thing is that every time it looks adorable! Plus her salon is so lovely inside, I’m always offered a hot cup of pour over coffee and the products she uses smell amazing. I can’t recommend this sweet salon enough and even though I am in an exclusive (hair dresser) relationship with Courtney, I know she has other wonderful stylists there too!

Gabrielle Hailstone took me from looking like a scrub to an all-​star. My hair is really difficult to cut, but she knew exactly what it needed. She was extremely professional, I’ll be going back again very soon.

Courtney has been my gal for several years now, and I’m so excited about her new salon! She has been great at translating my vague «can you make me like this pinterest picture, but less… weird» requests into stylish perfection. She’s super knowledgeable with great tips for how to style it on your own, gifted with her color placement, and fun to talk to on top of it all! Her prices are reasonable and she is committed to making sure you love your hair. Love love love!

Courtney has been the genius behind my gorgeous hair for seven years. From blond to brunette to red and through adorable bobs, natural looking extensions, and now an almost pixie, I am always in love with what she pulls off. The new salon is beautiful-​open and light with huge windows. Great street parking.
