Bank of the West

This is by far the best Bank of the West I have ever been too. Unfortunately I had to cancel it due to moving across the country where Bank of the West isn’t located. They are patient, friendly, and very helpful in weird circumstances. If I ever move back to the west, the first thing I’m doing is re opening my account there. Also this particular branch has the best agent I’ve ever spoken with. She always has a smile in her face and is always ready and willing to help. She’s very understanding and amazingly good at her job. Her name is Whitney. I don’t know her last name but she’s super nice.

I am surprised at the negative review that appears here. As a former banker myself, I know that there are a lot of rules/​regulations that banks must abide by, often ones that are difficult for most of us to understand. Certainly the bank personnel should have tried to explain these, and the fact most of them are Federal Government requirements and therefore out of the control of individual bank personnel.
I have used Bank of the West for 3+ years, after having been a former employee, officer, and customer of a competing bank for 50+ years. I use 3 different branches and, without exception, the entire staff has been outstanding and friendly, reminding me of how «banking used to be». As for the branch in question, I am truly surprised at the experience shared, as the 3 people who I know to handle teller transactions (2 females, 1 male) are excellent. there’s a saying that «everyone is entitled to their own opinion» and mine is the exact opposite of the earlier review.

Probably the worst customer service at any bank, EVER. And that includes a LOT of banks, current and failed.
My late father thought highly of the branch manager on SE 82^nd & Division. But then he had acute Alzheimer’s in late life which might explain this error in judgement.
To facilitate my paying of his expenses, we set up a joint account over ten years ago and after his death, I went to THIS local branch with a death certificate to have his name removed, a significant deposit, an address change and a request for new checks in my name only. Big mistake.
The deposit went thru, the address, name change and checks did not.
Instead of fixing it, the teller wanted to argue about how I did it wrong. Odd, since I too was a listed account holder. Three employees, and me. You would think they would want me to remain a customer… especially since I was the only one in the bank. You would think wrong.
No reason or explanation for the failures, just sign another form… maybe it will go thru this time. But I doubt it.
Bank of the West, let me introduce you to Kerry Killinger, former CEO of Washington Mutual. You have much in common.
Luckily for me, there are probably 30 other banks and credit unions nearby that WANT my business.
