Apple Store

Bought a Apple Watch and found the whole process pretty painless. Was helped right away and out the door with my new watch in less than 20 minutes. Everyone gripes about Apple, but really I’ve had nothing but excellent customer service from this store.

My experience this week with Apple and their flagship store in PDX has been horrible. It started with a drop of my old laptop. I called to purchase a new one online and that was easy. All I had to do was pick it up at the store and get the data transferred from my broken one to my new laptop. The «genius» bar worker checked my hard drive and said the data transfer should go smoothly. But they called the next day and left a message about a problem and to call back. But when you call, you can’t just call the store. So I spoke to someone somewhere who was a complete nimrod. He could not understand my issue though I tried to explain I was responding to a voice mail from Apple to call him. I asked for another operator and got put on hold for almost 20 minutes before I hung up and called back. I then waited over 10 minutes to speak to another operator. The next operator was very helpful and resolved my issue. Horrible experience as I was on the phone over 45 minutes to find out what the Apple repair team’s message for me was. Once they explained I needed more memory on my new computer to transfer all the data, I agreed to purchase a higher level model. They then informed me that I couldn’t upgrade my new purchase over the phone and would have to come in to the store. What? I’m trying to give you money and you make it hard. Reminded me of Comcast. So I told them to not transfer the largest files and I made a Genius Bar appointment to pick up my old and new computers and get help in restoring all my files. Arriving on time, I’m still waiting for the «genius» to help me a half hour later. What’s Apple doing with their record amounts of corporate cash? Not providing even mediocre service.

Cool, very Portland trendy, very modern and almost every tech guy has a beard. One guys was a little rude and snotty almost incredulous. But it was still a okay experience.
I went there to have an iphone unlocked that belonged to my company because a previous employee had set it up under their iTunes account. The first guy was very helpful and walked me to another guy. This guy was also very nice but needed me to log into my att account to prove I owned the phone. I tried to explain that it’s a business account and that there is no costumer login like a personal account. He needed to get a third guy. As I tried to explain the situation he was treating me like I stole the phone. After opening my account he got nicer but would not just look it up as I requested for quite some time.
Eventually I was able to resolve my issue and despite that guys attitude, it was an ok experience.

This review is for the service at the Genius bar at this location. I am sure everyone’s experience will vary but my experience today at the genius bar was absolutely AWFUL.
I was in the store to have a rep look over my Macbook Pro’s display malfunction. The rep (some middle aged hipster chick) had the condescending tone from the beginning to the end.
For instance, during the creation of the work order, she insisted that I leave them my password so they can ‘check’ the machine after the display was replaced. I obviously said «no» and told her I would instead create another account for them use for that purpose with limited access. She was visibly agitated and stared at me as if I was some annoying insect. She grimaced as she was finishing up the work order, and finally muttered «we are done…» as she was walking away looking pissed!
The rep was incompetent, unprofessional, completely devoid of any interest in helping the customer, and finally, for whatever reason, behaved as though she is a Goddess bestowing her omnipotent wisdom upon the helpless idiots at the Genius bar. I left the store feeling disgusted.

What an asinine way to run a retail operation. I had to be placed into a queue for a specialist to become available in order to purchase something. I already knew what I wanted. So after flagging down two staff members for assistance neither told me that I had to placed into their system.
I had to find the supervisor in order for them to allow me to purchase anything.
*Shut up and just take my money!!!*

Shoutout to the marvelous people in Apple downtown Portland, who serve not only as tech gods/​goddesses for the laypeople who can do little more than send a text and navigate Instagram (me) with patience and poise, but who assume the role of therapists and listeners when one’s expensive piece of technology goes down the pooper.
I came in with my phone that had been mailed back to me after I had left in Las Vegas (I know, I know), with a display screen that was completely destroyed; pictures, words, everything had a massive shadow cast upon them to the point of not being able to even unlock my phone. I took it in and Sarah, one of the Genius bar associates, told me the display would be replaced for FREE to my delight! Post-​Vegas bank accounts don’t allow for new phones so: perfecto.
I came back a few hours later and was brought my phone in the same condition with the explanation that I had water damage inside… That is for another review of a certain limo company in Vegas who damaged my phone and is claiming no responsibility, but I digress. I got choked up as the girl explained my payment options to me and as I am on the verge of tears, she said, «This kind of shit happens. I’m so sorry, and please do not be embarrassed if you’d like to cry.»
Long story short: when you gotta spread out a new phone over 4 credit cards and the change in the bottom of your purse, and someone gives you a hug for it, a company is doing something right.

Typically going to the Genius Bar is a tremendous problem — they’re running late, the place is packed, nowhere to sit, etc. I got to my appointment 10 minutes early and they viewed me before my scheduled time. They were super helpful, excellent service. I ‘d repairs that I had not gotten done because another Genius Bar told me they’d need to keep my computer for a week.

Went there today and had an excellent experience. Jesse helped me out, I hardly had to wait at all. He was extremely helpful in explaining the different options in the laptops and made figuring out what was best for my needs a painless process. He even got me a discount for being s teacher! So if you are a teacher, bring your teacher association card or something showing a valid credential. Thanks Jesse!

You guys suck. Going to buy other brands. I want my cracked screen (only the screen cover not the led screen) fixed and your «genius» said nothing and just start to wipe my iPad. She respond after I stopped her and ask why she’s doing it that she thought we knew the only way apple can «fix» this is pay $ 249 to swap a new one. Hell no. Want take more of my money? Piss off Apple.

After receiving less than mediocre support over the phone, I cam into this Apple store and was extremely happy with my service! I worked with Frank on a couple of issues that were preventing me from doing my work on my MacBook. He was friendly, personable, articulate and extremely helpful. After we resolved my issue, he took the additional step to fill me in on the Business Accounts program to assist me in with future issues so that I can spend time growing my business, rather than finicking with my laptop. Thanks Frank, and Thank you to Apple for hiring Frank. Such a breath of fresh air to work with someone like him!

Ashton helped me this afternoon with my appointment to replace my magenta beats. He was helpful, courteous, and a great member of this apple team. Every trip should be this painless! You rock!

Even though this is a downtown location I was in and out of there rather quickly. Alex was super helpful and very nice, I’d definitely recommend her for any service needs you may have. The whole staff is very attentive at this location & try to help you as soon as they can. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would go back and have her help me in the future.

Big store. Nice big store front. People are nice. Had no issues buying my iPhone 6s Plus
Prices are high, but that apple for you. I was not an apple fan till 4 yrs ago, now I can’t get enough.
The genius are nice to work with and we would recommend this store. Don’t know why it has 3 stars ??

I was greeted in the best way possible and the woman was ready to help me despite the store being full of people! She asked me what I was looking for and I told her I wanted a MacBook Pro but I wasn’t sure what one since it was my first ever MacBook purchase. She showed me different sizes and i settled on the 13inch MacBook Pro. We made nice small talk and she asked me if I was in college and said that they do student discounts on the Mac and AppleCare! So I got very excited and it made me purchase cheaper which was very nice! She set me up at the table after making my purchase and helped set it up for me and taught me how to use certain features and stuff. I had a great experience at this store and I was so happy walking out of there it brightened my whole day up.

Beautiful space, attractive and attentive workers. This place can do anything and everything Apple/​Mac related. If you like their products you will love this store.

JOSIAH is honestly one of the best employees I’ve ever met, not because he was simply the nicest person ever, but because he was ever so patient with the questions that my mom and I had. He handled situations in the most professional manner and I feel as if he should be rewarded employee of the month. Another employee I want to mention that did a terrific and excellent job was KYLEE, who greeted us and had a friendly conversation with us around the iWatch display case when there weren’t customers to greet or customers who had questions. English is a second language to my mom and so sometimes it’s hard to comprehend what she says. I’m glad these two understood and were friendly about it while still maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

The downtown Apple Store is one of the coolest modern building designs in the city, and in a terrific location downtown, but customer service could step up a notch. The first tech I was passed off to seemed bored and tuned me out until I pulled up the information she was trying to find on another computer. The second was pleasant and friendly until we looked at which iPhone I could upgrade to since his expertise went as far as what colors I could buy my new phone, asking me to hang on when I tried to admonish this, continuing what colors they come in, and the photo quality. Information on the phone’s processors, battery life, major changes I can expect since my last one was a 4S, etc, etc etc was unavailable to him. That’s great if Apple techs’ priority is having a pretty phone that takes pretty pictures, but I’d like to know a little more before forking over a couple hundred. I think I’ll check Craigslist.

This store is like the cherry on a cake as far as portland downtown is concerned. It lies in the vicinity of the ever popular pioneer way which is an amazing cluster of famous outlets. I have been to so many major apple stores in the country including the palo alto and new york one but this one is situated and styled in a way that it is much more prominent. The best part is this store is filled my customer service and geniuses, they are simply awesome and pretty knowledgable in taking care of the customers. I did ended up buying a 13 pro as it was awesome to get one tax-​free. Overall, a pretty satisfying experience except they did not change my hairline cracked screen as it was out of warranty.

This is the biggest Apple Store I’ve ever been in. The no sales tax in Oregon kicks major ass as well. I bought a portable charger, because I’m hood rich and not a true baller to get a new iMac. Staff was friendly, I mean the 4,000 workers that work in this giant store. Great location by Pioneer Square Mall.

Let me start by saying I’ve used apple products since before it was cool. In fact for a long time it was quite a pain to be an apple user, but I’m loyal. Unfortunately, it’s starting to be a pain again, albeit for different reasons.
Apple has seen a lot of success lately and it seems to have gone to their head. The customer service experience I had on 12÷26÷15 was easily the worst I’ve ever experienced.
I had gone to purchase a case 10 days or so prior and I inquired as to what would stay cleaner, a leather or silicone case. The Apple Store person told be leather, but that I could return it within 14 days.
The leather case in fact got extremely dirty, and so I went to return it like she said I could. The employee I tried to return it to wouldn’t let me return it even though I was within the 14 days and had my receipt. She was insulting, condescending, and rude. In all honesty, she seemed drunk with the little bit of authority she had as an Apple Store employee.
If this is how apple is going to take care of loyal customers of over 25 years, it’s my fear they will go the way of Microsoft. I’m not surprised that a Portland hipster was rude and had no customer service skills, but I am disappointed that apple is allowing its employees to treat people like this.

This is a great store, big, open, and bright. Even the architecture is stylish and cool. Its kind of a big glass box filled with modern displays to show off… well you know Apple stuff, iPads, iPhones, iPods, computers… It is fun to see all of Apples latest and greatest in one place. With all the gadgets and attachments you need. I
One thing Apple always delivers on is employees who know what they are talking about. (Ok also style and having well made stuff.) Warning though Apple doesn’t call them geeks for nothing, Still they will try and help you.
This space is a big improvement on the old one in the basement of the mall.

Well, it appears that the Apple Store now sells by appointment only. Also, If you have your phone serviced by a third party vendor, Apple won’t touch it anymore. They cut you off like a jealous lover. A really petty jealous lover. I’ll be selling my stock and switching back to other companies. I’ve been a Mac/​Apple user for about 10 years and their OS was always frustrating to me. It’s been even more frustrating to see it dumbed down and made less user friendly with each new iteration. On top of that, it now appears that the store has gotten worse. Oh, and this is my second Apple product that was ruined not by me or by an accident, but by an Apple update. Bad product, bad customer service, bad company.

This store is pretty useless. Coming from California, I thought you could just walk in and buy an iPhone 6s on the spot. Nope! So, I guess you are supposed to get on the Apple website at 8am the morning of to try to reserve a phone. Once you reserve a phone, you get a time slot for you to come purchase your phone. And, according to the staff, it is hard on the weekends to reserve a phone since everyone and their mom’s come to Portland on the weekend to get one. The lady acted like it was going to be near impossible to get one the weekend we were there, and if we wanted a rose gold one, it was definitely not gonna happen. This was super irritating because I was just trying to buy a phone on my existing contract. I am not one of those people that is going to buy 50 phones to resell overseas.
What was also super annoying was the lack of service from the employees. When we walked in, no one acknowledged us or offered us help. We walked around a bit, until I flagged down a woman at the front to help us. I guess her job was just to check people in, so she told us to go hang out by the phones and she would send someone over to help us. So we go and hang out by the phones for awhile and no one comes to help. We finally had to stop another employee by telling her we had one very quick question when we really had a bunch of questions to ask. And, it was then that she explained the process to us. I have no idea why the first woman just didn’t explain the process to us because we had told her that we wanted to buy a phone. I felt like she could have just told us right from the get go that we were not going to be able to get a phone that day and we would need to try online. We basically wasted about 30 – 45 minutes in this store.
We ended up going to the Verizon store a few blocks away and they had everything that we wanted so my girlfriend and I were both able to get our phones in rose gold. Plus, we had super great service while we were there. So, I would just recommend going to your phone’s carrier to buy your phone and avoid this place all together!

Had a very bad experience there. In one word, staffs of this shop are overly occupied, you have to wait a super long time to be noticed and served. And the management is in a mess. I recommend the other Apple shop at Washington square. It’s near downtown, not crowded, and staffs there are efficient and kind.
When we entered the store, one staff helped us signed in and told us to wait at a corner. We wait for 20 minutes. After asking, one staff told us that we were the 4^th in the waiting list. That’s ok, the store is crowded and the staff were busy.
After 30 minutes, all of sudden a female staff, Earl, I thought her name is, told us to line up for service. I was confused because according to her tablet, we were the 2^nd in the waiting list. She refused to admit there was a list and threaded that if I kept asking she would ask the security!!! I didn’t see any other staff more bossy and ignorance than her in my whole time in the US.
It’s very very bad. Portland is one stop if our trip. I was expecting the welcomes from the rose city, not threats of securities. Hum.
Choose another Apple Store at Washington Square. And I do wish Apple have a better sale number with more capable staff.

Scheduled an appointment with this Apple Store to get the ridiculously fragile screen on my iPhone 6s repaired after them telling me to come in and get it replaced. They knew the issue and knew which store I was going to. The soonest appointment was 2 days after contacting apple. I waited to days. Drove 30 min to the Apple Store. Then they looked at my phone and told me they wouldn’t be able to repaire it for 2 or 3 more days. Why the hell did they tell me to come in if they knew they didn’t have the parts? Why couldn’t they order the parts two days earlier when I initially told them my problem? What a waist of time, gas and parking money.
Also, don’t buy an iPhone 6s. My screen shattered from dropping the phone 3 inches on to a table after owning it for 7 days. Yes the phone was in a case. And no there was no packing material keeping it safe when Apple originally shipped it to me.

This store quite discriminates the race of customers. If customers are White or Black, Apple staffs will let them to the side of the store near 5^th ave which has 2 staffs to help customers to check-​out. However, if customers are Asians, Apple staffs will put them in the side near 4^th ave, right side of the store, which has only one staff to provide check– out service. My friend and I waited for an hour. And I recognized that all of people who were waiting in the line was Asians and another line was mostly White and Black. And I asked the staff who checked me out and he said that «the line is for a customers who are deciding the carriers of the iphone6s which I think is quite funny because reservers must choose a carrier before they make a reservation online.
this store to get iphone 6s and Macbook, and we did reserve the 6s online as same as other iphone6s ‘s buyers.

I was in town for a friends wedding (I’m from Los Angeles) and my trusty and beloved iphone 4 (yes you read that right… FOUR) finally died. It had gotten moisture on it and decided it wanted to call everyone I absolutely didn’t want it to call (old hated bosses, financial planners, and other random contacts I had in my phone) at like all hours of the night and day (oh hey 4am calls!), unprompted. Oh and same for facetiming and playing music too. Long story short, it was time.
Luckily I was in Portland (land of no sales tax!) and decided to bite the bullet and get a 64gb iphone 6. Granted I knew the new one was going to be announced the following week but I wouldn’t be in Portland then and just couldn’t wait.
My service was great. I knew what I wanted. But I will say I had to ask someone for help. But once I had her attention, she was fantastic. Being that I was buying an unlocked phone for my non-​contract carrier, Cricket, she offered to call the nearest cricket location (pretending to be me) to ensure that I would be able to get a sim card and fully activated today. I was in and out in like 20 minutes. Totally easy!
Plus the Cricket store was just around the corner and was ready for me when I arrived.
Also, this store is beautiful! Those windows, omg. Thanks, Apple!

Knowledgable staff but can be rude and tend to rush you out before you get all of your questions answered and your issues fixed. Possibly not enough support agents or pay to deal with all of the customers issues. Wait times are long and they don’t allow drop offs.
Also «Genius Bar» is a ridiculous name. Should be renamed to «Moderately tech competent hipsters who aren’t thrilled about customer service… Bar»

came in to pick up a new macbook :) i have nothing but great things to say about the staff here! we arrived right when they were closing. security at the door wouldnt even let us in. while outside waiting for our Über ride, they saw that my hubby and i were traveling from out of town (possibly the giant backpacks we were lugging) so one of the staff members came out and said he would help us! we chatted with him and got my macbook air, forgot his name, but he was super awesome! what great customer service!
oh and this store is absolutely beautiful! i’ve been in many apple stores but this one is one of the biggest one i’ve been in.

I went in here to inquire about issues with my iPhone. The service was friendly, but somewhat superficial. The technician I showed my phone recommended backing it up to address a problem, but did not realize that there was not enough space to back the phone up.
The whole store is designed to be an experience, geared toward selling you more products. I don’t like this – if it’s supposed to feel like the future, then I’m glad I’m in the present. Still, they were quick to get me served on a busy day and were understanding and attentive when working with me.
I’d go here again to address my technology needs, but it’s not a business I claim to have any real fondness for, either.

Darn you Portland and your no sales tax. I shake my fist in the air and curse your ground. I told myself no more Apple products. Apple already has too much of my soul and one more purchase from them would definitely seal my greedy consumer soul.
Oh Portland, I didn’t mean it. You are a great city. Your no sales tax makes you even more beautiful than you can imagine. As I type this from my brand new iPad Mini, I cannot help but love this Portland Apple Store even more.
A shout out to the friendly Apple man who quickly got us that iPad Mini faster than I could change my mind. Without you, I probably wouldn’t be holding this shiny white iPad. Without you, I probably would have chickened out and remembered my consumer morals.
Five stars for Apple and their shiny and oh so pretty store in downtown Portland. I couldn’t just walk by. Your gravitational pull was too strong. Take my money! (Without sales tax)

This store is gorgeous. It’s truly a thing of beauty. So much glass, so much light, so open. Great lines.
This Apple Store is one of the grandest I’ve seen. Better than the SF store. And it’s packed. Always packed.
There’s not much to say about this store other than the sheer size and presence of it. It’s busy (as they all are), the service is great (as with other locations), and if you do like me, and wear a blue shirt when you visit, you’re doomed to be mistaken for one of the many hundreds of employees numerous times.
«Sorry, I don’t work here, I just like blue shirts.»
I have said that many times at this store.
Anyway, as far as Apple stores go, this could easily be a flagship.

Short and easy:
On the specific scale of Apple Stores, this is the best I’ve visited. Not only is it a beautiful, minimalist store made almost entirely of glass, it’s also a quick and efficient shopping experience. It’s always busy yet I’m always helped by a competent and friendly associate. Granted, I’m never there to browse or talk specs, but whenever I visit this Apple Store, I am in and out in a matter of minutes. Really, it’s rare that shopping is this pain-​free anywhere, and for it to be at a busy tech store? That’s impressive indeed.
