Kathryn Lowe is a MIRACLE WORKER. I first saw Kathryn in 2012. I was pretty desperate. Two years earlier I had injured my back during a routine morning workout, and what my chiropractor called a «sprained back» had never recovered. In fact, it had gotten worse over time as my back had weakened from inactivity, and I had developed sciatic nerve pain in my right leg as a result. At the relatively young age of 35 I found myself living with chronic pain, walking with a bad limp, and relying on my partner’s help to dress myself and perform simple tasks. Anything I dropped on the floor had to stay there; I couldn’t bend down to pick things up. I had trouble driving because pressing the gas pedal caused excruciating sciatica pain in my right leg.
I was beside myself. My activities were increasingly limited, and I was exhausted and in pain all the time. No doctor could figure out how to heal me. I saw MDs, naturopaths, physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and Chinese herbalists. I tried massage, yoga, swimming, ice and heat therapy. I had even read some nutty book on healing your body with your mind. I had done it all, and nothing had worked. My physical therapist had literally shrugged at me in confusion when I made no improvement. We were both at a loss. I seemed to have an invisible mysterious injury that no x-​ray could detect and no skilled practitioner could heal. And it was ruining my quality of life. A generally happy and inspired person, I found myself feeling depressed, angry, and trapped. I found myself desperately wishing I could escape my body.
So when I heard about Kathryn’s Structural Energy Therapy (SET) work, my curiosity was piqued. Her website described how SET could address the root causes of pain, and I thought, what the hell, it probably won’t work, but it’s worth a shot. I made an appointment.
Three SET sessions later, I was completely and permanently healed. I walked out of her office pain free. (It still brings tears of gratitude and relief to my eyes to write that.) No more crippling pain. No more limp. I was FREE. I could run, walk, dance, jump. I was completely back. My body worked again!!!
Kathryn had begun each SET session by thoughtfully studying my body and assessing the interdependencies of my muscle groups. She noticed things about my body’s misalignment that were so subtle, no one else would ever have noticed. She could interpret from the slight tilt of my head, or the position of my feet on the floor, the reasons I was in pain. She has this Jedi mind power for looking at the way someone stands in front of her and understanding what’s going on under the surface, and what needs to be done to alleviate it. Then she begins the treatment, using the SET and massage techniques that set her apart. Kathryn is an epic, amazing healer!!!
Honestly, I owe Kathryn a lifetime of gratitude. It’s thanks to her incredible work that the last year and a half of my life have been so amazing — I have gardened, I have road tripped, I have danced. I have cared for the babies in my family and swayed them to sleep. I have tied my own goddamn shoes. The liberation from pain is so sweet, and my gratitude is so deep.

P. S. After a year and a half of joyful pain-​free life, I recently went back to Kathryn again with some new issues: nighttime back pain and a stiff neck. In an hour and a half she had completely resolved all of my issues again. After a few months of feeling stiff and tight (and attributing it to stress), my body feels amazing again.

Kathryn is amazing! She finds the perfect balance between asking what you need and knowing what to do. I’m a dancer, and when I first went to see Kathryn a few weeks ago, I hadn’t been able to dance for 7 months from debilitating knee pain. I had stopped dancing because everything else tightened up, and my hip, hamstrings and sacrum were all painful as a result of my body being out of balance. She did a series of SET treatments with me, and yesterday I just danced for 2 hours straight! Needless to say, I am ecstatic with the results. Wow. I’m a runner and a new mom, and was suffering from some incredible hip pain. After seeing Kathryn a few months, I’m 100% pain-​free.
