Action Fast Photo

The first thing that comes to mind of Action Fast Photo (AFP) is that they are great for small simple (film/​photo/​scan) type service requests. They excel at requests that do not take a lot of thought to process. I’ll use the following analogy to demonstrate what I mean — (A child putting a round peg in a round hole or a monkey playing with its poop). Any service request more complex than this, they will need a lot of hand holding by you (The Customer).
They just completed a scan of some family slides for me to a digital format. When I left AFP on (11/​13/​2015), I asked one of the AFP employees if all the digital files had been checked for being at the requested resolution (2968×2000). He told me yes they have been checked. I even had this requested resolution printed in big font on the inside and outside of the blue metal box I used to transport the slides.
When I got home I checked all the files on the CD. It turns out there were 119 slides of the 500+ that were scanned at a lower resolution (1520×1024). Hey, you may think I’m nitpicking here, but I’m paying 200+ dollars for this work to be completed at the resolution that I requested. I don’t believe I’m being unreasonable. Also, where is the quality control? Why would that AFP employee tell me the files have all been checked without knowing for sure? Sloppy!

Then there is another issue with one of their AFP employees, I think she goes by the name of Green-​Haired College Punk (GHCP) which another reviewer used when describing this person. When I first took the slides into AFP on (10/​12/​2015), GHCP’s demeanor was one of disinterest and that of being annoyed that I was dropping off 500+ slides for her to process. When I called about the resolution screw-​up, GHCP just gave me the run around about it being someone else’s fault and tried her best to get me off the phone as quickly as possible. Never once did she offer or suggest how this situation could be remedied (like, maybe re-​scanning the 119 slides — No charge?). No, she just left me twisting in the wind. At that point I became livid. I’m done with them. I don’t even want my money back for the 119 slides they screwed up. I’ll have the slides done somewhere else. It will be less of a hassle. Other people in town can and will perform this work.
Final Notes:
The one positive thing I can say about Action Fast Photo (AFP) is that they share a wall with an adjoining liquor store. After getting your family photos «serviced» by AFP, you can drown your sorrows under the (I-​5/​Capital Hwy) on-​ramp with the two pints of cheap Bourbon you just bought next door.
AFP are great at doing very simple service requests, requests that their people can perform in the least amount of steps and within the smallest window of time. Anything more than that is just too confusing for them and you (The Customer) will need to intervene on their behalf because they are too clueless to even Google search the definition of what «good customer service» means.

6 weeks ago stopped in and sat for a Company photo ID picture, was told they would have it ready in a couple days, stopped back following week and told it wasn’t ready yet. stopped in a week later and they told me they couldn’t match my picture with my name and could I help them identify pictures. been getting the same excuses for 5 weeks now and still no photo ID. how on earth does this company have a 5 star rating on Unilocal…

I had a detailed and somewhat complicated job I needed to get done. I was on a very tight time frame as I was in from out of town and I needed the photos and prints copied and re framed for a birthday party. Justin worked late into the evening to get the job completed for me and did a beautiful job also. And at a great price! The pride of ownership and quality of the work is a real credit to the company and I can highly recommend Action Fast Photo.

This place has been around for a LONG time. One of the last «photo/​film» places around. And the people are WONDERFUL, friendly, and professional! I brought in OLD negatives that date back to 1920 and the owner is doing what he can to get them printed for me for my dad’s 80^th birthday!

The fasted I’ve ever had my filmed developed, took only 15 min for a roll of 35 and 30 for a couple rolls of 120 mm!
Good quality processing and it’s the cheapest I’ve experienced

Annoyed. I called these guys the other day asking if they could scan ONE negative onto a thumb drive for me. Guy says sure, but he can’t do it until Friday. I go in on Friday @3pm (no customers in the store) & I’m told I’ll have to come get it tomorrow. Really? You can’t scan ONE negative while I wait — when you told me what day to come in? So much for Action FAST.
I see all the 5-​star reviews so they must be doing something right, but I’m completely turned off to ever going back.

Love Action Fast. There is a kid who works in there who is fabulous, don’t know his name, but he is very professional and attuned to quality. Have had lots of prints made there and some adjustments on photos. Great work and service every time I’ve come in.

I’ve been an Action Fast customer for years, but they outdid themselves this last time and I have to write a review.
My dear 94-​year-​old friend found a ‘70s camera among her many things and it still had film in it with eight pics used! She thought the pics might be of her late husband and she wanted the film developed, so I took it to Action Fast.
Alas, the film was blank, but the folks at Action Fast were so kind about it and they charged us nothing and, well, employees behaving like human beings is so rare anymore. I don’t know how you state the value of something like that.
Action Fast does great work and they seem to be good people. Give them your business!

Brandon helped me out & answered a number of questions, we even chatted about the merit of medium format film & passed niceties.
I ordered the prints online and called to confirm, now I’m on my way over to pick them up right now.

Best place for Foreign Passport Photo in Portland!
They have passport photo information of many countries in their file. I didn’t have to explain a lot and got very precise sized photos. Amazing.
I went to a place in SE before Action Fast and paid $ 15 but they were wrong size. I tried to explain what I needed (a little smaller than US passport photo size) to the guy there but no success, just gave up, paid and left… too bad! I wish I knew about Action Fast before. It’s worth 20 minutes drive from NE.

Locally-​owned business with friendly store service, and an efficient, easy-​to-​use online ordering system that makes doing business at Action Fast Photo a breeze. They also have a nice variety of other goods and services in addition to simple print development.
As nice as it is to have a Walgreens in the area — and it is for misc. household meds/​items — I will continue to make sure Action Fast Photo is my first stop for all photography/​video needs.

My photos that I ordered turned out fantastic, both matte and glossy finishes look nice. The online tool is very easy to use and clearly indicates prices for the various types of prints. I now prefer AFP over Walgreens and Target photocenters. I received an email notification as soon as my prints were finished. I purchased a Unilocal deal for $ 10 for $ 20 which was accepted and processed without an issue. My overall purchase was a great deal!

Love it. Close to home, owner is friendly, great service, all other photo shops can forget about it. Actionfast is where it is at. Extra bonus: they are next to Barbur foods and the liquor store so you can grab a schwarma and a bottle of booze while you are at it!

I went way out of my way to try this locally-​owned business. I needed quick delivery on a Christmas gift (coffee mug with photo) and they promised 24 hour turnaround. The shop is tiny but service was friendly & efficient. With the Unilocal deal they also beat competitors prices, including online sales. I was very pleased with the finished product. Excellent photo quality and the recipient said it keeps drinks hot for a long time. Too bad they’re so far away from me (a long 2 bus rides from SE Portland). I can always use an excuse to go to Barbur World Foods next door!

This is a local place that has been on the corner of walk and don’t walk for a while. Ok, it’s not really the name of the streets, but you know what I mean it’s always there and convenient.
The parking is a little awkward but other than that a nice quick stop.
They do all their work on site and gave me a great deal on a bunch of negatives I had reproduced. It was still $ 93 but there were a lot of them. I learned how little I was when some of these were taken and some taken prior to my arrival.
They will even put them on a cd for you. I had my passport photo taken there as well. I didn’t love the way I looked in it but that’s not their fault. Heehee…
All in all I’ll continue to go back here as it’s close and I like supporting a local business.
