Do you like hole in the wall places? Do you like fresh made food? Do you like an owner that is invested in his product enough to make sure EVERYTHING is done right? Do you appreciate someone that not only loves what he does but wants you to love it as much as he or she does? Do you like a sense of actual community where you eat and not some fast food cookie cutter? Then what in the HE** are you doing reading this review and not already at Papi’s Kiosco? We had the pleasure of eating there today and do yourself, your taste buds and your stomach a favor and get there as soon as possible! They are only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Please note they have music on Saturday along with dancing. They have been known to roast a pig Caribbean style and we are making sure we head there this coming Saturday. It is bring your own bottle… but make sure you bring your appetite. We had the shredded pork with home made hot sauce, fried plantains, beef empanadas, rice and pigeon peas, and ended the lunch/dinner with an AMAZING flan. All of which is home made either by Tony(Papi) or someone in the kitchen there. PLEASE go as soon as possible. oh, and if you see a chubby white guy comatose in the parking lot from a food over dose… that is just me. shake me and say thanks…

Really good fried pork and arroz con gandules Tony is a wonderful host and the place reminded me of the roadside spots in Aguadilla. Im lucky in that we are staying very close. We also picked up some of his sofrito to take home. Cant wait to try his pateles he makes them all year but was sold out at the time. Worth the drive!

Very disappointed. Today is Wednesday And I just went out of my way in the rain after reading all the great reviews only to find it closed. When I called, I was told they are only open Friday Saturday and Sunday. Really??? Update your website and sign!!! Very inconsiderate!

My whole family loves the food at Papi’s. I think we have tried most of his dishes over the last 2 years, and I’ve never had anything that was not absolutely delicious! The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, the food is unbeatable, and Papi is a just an all around great guy who makes sure his customers feel welcomed and appreciated.

This place has amazing Puerto Rican food and great music to listen to while you eat. It took a while for me to learn how to get there because of all the construction on 59, but you can access this place from a side street off 1314 near the Burger King. It’s totally worth the drive for great food!!!

Wow! Probably the best pork I’ve ever eaten. I’ve only been once, but I will definitely be going back for more. Also loved the music and atmosphere. Heat, Humidity, Great Food, Cool Cat Owner. Only wish the beautiful Puerto Rican beaches could replace hwy 59.

If you’re looking for local authentic Puerto Rican food, this is the place! Been missing Rincon and the fantastic meals we ate there. This place was recommended to us, so we tried it. We’re so glad we did! It is right off 59 with Puerto Rican flags on the building and outside. It felt like we were back there again! A food truck where he prepares the food fresh daily, some tables outside with and without cover, pits for barbecuing, and all the ambience of being just off of the road in Aguadilla. The meal described in one word: flavorful! Pork marinated perfectly, rosemary chicken that literally falls off the bone, PR rice, yucca, and fried plantains are what we enjoyed. He also prepares pasteles frequently, which we brought home to boil tonight for dinner. So to make a long review short, we will be back with friends and family!

First off, dispel any notions of fine dining and you’ll be okay. This is a roadside establishment with damned good Puerto Rican food. It is difficult to find, so be prepared for a call to the establishment for pointers if you feel like you’re getting close, but still haven’t found it. Best I can explain is that if you are coming from 59 North, take exit FM1314 in Porter(next exit past Kingwood) and turn left under the freeway onto FM1314. Immediately as you pass the Exxon gas station, make a right and continue down the road(yes, you will think you are in someone’s driveway as it turns into a dirt lane), but don’t worry … keep going, you will eventually see a small sign on the chain link fence for Papi’s. Turn right and then follow a twist a few yards until you see the parking lot). Congratulations, you made it! This is where the fun begins. Papi’s is a roadside establishment, but is nicely done with two areas of outside seating. One area is covered and the other has tables with umbrella’s. The whole patio is surrounded by tropical plants, and bright colors. The ambiance is tropical, even if the road of the freeway is never-ending and quite intrusive. Papi himself will greet you(a rarity even today) or you make your order at the window. The menu is pretty extensive, but we relied on the tried and true method of asking«So what’s good today?» Papi’s answer was spot on and we had two plates; one with roasted pork, arroz con gandules(essentially, rice and beans), and tostones(fried mashed green plantains) and a delicious butter sauce covered it all. The other plate was carne frita(fried pork), arroz con gandules, and also tostones. Apparently, pork-fat rules in our household. Choose from some island sodas such as Kola Champagne or Mata India to wash it down. This isn’t diet food, so come hungry and come to eat! [Unfortunately, we didn’t have time or appetite to sample much more as we were stuffed, but I can’t wait to return to try bacalao(salted cod), mofongo, and some other island treats.] Pros: Extremely good Puerto Rican food Truly pleasant and welcoming owner Fair prices with big portions Unpretentious Cons: Not really a con, but as this is an open-air, roadside establishment, be prepared to do battle with Houston’s sun and road noise from busy Hwy 59. Difficult to locate – even with Siri and GPS. Be prepared to make a call for more specific instructions.

The food here is ridiculously good! I was born and raised on my mom’s awesome PR food back in NYC, and the food here is like I’m back in my moms kitchen… it IS that good! Papi’s friendly and also from NYC, which explains why the food is so good :-D My only complaint would be that they close too early during the week… by the time I get home, they’re closed, so if for some reason my wife doesn’t cook, I can’t run over there for some homestyle PR food!

MUST try Puerto Rican food truck. Papi’s has moved to Porter on the southbound feeder of 59NORTH of 1314. The pork is off the hook!
