Petco

As I write this review, I must acknowledge the great treatment I’ve gotten here for 5+ years.
But something has happened.
In the past month & a half, every time I try to bring my two small dogs in for teeth cleaning & nail trimming, they’ve only had one groomer working, and that person is usually visibly exhausted and overworked. (Often they actually comment on it)
Over the years, we had gotten to know everyone and received amazing treatment, but now we’re constantly turned away & today was the last time. We won’t be back to the groomers here, and I won’t be shopping here anymore either.

Doesn’t open on time. Doesn’t price match with their website. Went to pay at the register and had to wait a couple of minutes because no one was at any register, mind you I was the first and only customer in the store still.

The staff seems to be mad at the world?! Very unfriendly. No one feels like answering questions, and when the have to go to another section to show you something, they let you know, how much work that is and that you bothered them. Will not be going back

Nice people here. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and they had a dog adoption event outside.
It was kind of sad because the dogs were from distressed back grounds. But it was awesome to see then trying to find homes for dogs that had rough lives.

I was not impressed when I stopped in to snag a birthday gift for Snowball, my nephew’s dog. The cashier seem to be bothered that he had to ring me up… In fact, he seem to be bothered by his own presence at the store. Very poor customer service.

Horrible no help to help me on black Friday, John the floor manager basically told me to wait, how can u have all these specials and no staff I waited like 15 minutes because I kept going to the front and asking for help. When he did come and help us my husband said he smelled like booze, Petsmart next time.

Love this location! Dogs, Cats, Birds, Reptiles, Fish, Hampsters, they have an endless supply of goodies for almost all domestic pets. The staff here rocks, I can always count on them to help out with my pets needs. Petco price matches, which is really nice. Show them the item number and price on your phone and they will lower the price. There’s a big huge parking lot with plenty of space.
Often times on the weekend they have an organized animal adoption with cats and dogs. It’s pet friendly, you can bring your dog to the store on the leash. There’s tons of kitty litter and they have a kitty litter pit for those who bring reusable containers and I believe it is sold by the pound. This location has a lot to offer, so definitely give them a try.

Super nice and clean pet store. Nice selection of beta fish. I came in looking for a small toy for my little girl and found one for 1.50. A cute pink fluffy bunny. Not bad! Employees are nice there too. And I like how they gave back to homeless pets!

I’m pretty happy with this location, they keep a clean store and the animals and marine life seem well cared for.
The selection isn’t end all be all. Sometimes they are out of my pet food and it bothers me a little that when I forget my rewards card and give them my phone number to look it up, they can’t ever find it and they won’t let me use one of theirs. Just a minor beef, but it’s annoying.
Staff is friendly but there is never really anyone on the floor when we have a question, that would be nice. We always have to walk to the registers to get help.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Petco!
I took my dog for grooming, bathing, clipping nails and brushing his teeth. First, since I was seven minutes late, they did not want to take care of me anymore. I had to ask for the manager to get an exception done. Not the best first impression at all!
Ashley at the front seemed not to like her job as she looked indifferent. No personality at all! After 5 hours I finally received a call that my dog was ready. He was kept in a small cage, no water and no food. Once I got home, he was drinking almost his entire bowl of water.
I will not return to Petco for sure. Just awful!

Employees are Always helpful and everything is easy to find. I’m a frequent customer. Never had any issues.

Wow this place really pissed me off the last time I brought my dog for grooming. Ericka is so unprofessional it doesn’t take 3 hours to give my dog a bath. I specifically get early appointments because I don’t like my dog being in a cage for so long. And then they give me an attitude when I go there to get my dog. DONT GO HERE

Robert was very helpful, understanding and patient.
I always come to this location even though there’s locations closer to home — I love how clean, sanitized and helpful everyone is.
I wish I could have adopted another cat. They were all cute, playful and comfortable around other humans.
One suggestion to visitors:
PLEASE! Don’t hit the cage of the kitten/​cat!
I saw a man approach a sleeping cat and poked him. Obviously, the cat will react! (You wouldn’t want a stranger hitting/​poking you). Since, the cat hissed at him the man began hitting the cage.
Such an uneducated person.

You know I really love any kind of pet store because I really love the animals… dogs, cats, bunnies, all types of little critters. But the truth is Petco is not my favorite store.
My first complaint is that Petco is more expensive than most pet stores. I know the quality is high and sometimes higher than other stores but for example you can find the same exact toys at Petsmart for cheaper. And the truth is what do majority of most dogs do with pet toys, they rip them up, kill them dead, they’re gone in a few days if you’re lucky! So who wants to pay the extra few dollars for a toy they may not last very long, definitely not me!
However that is not my problem with this Petco. My first problem is that most of the employees are not so great in the customer service department. Some of them are decent, but not very willing to help or go the extra mile to find the products that you need.
A lot of them employees and managers are not knowledge about policies, products or sure about much of anything. When I asked him questions about items that might go on sale, instead of trying to find the answer for me they answered with a lot I don’t know and said I guess, making a guess of what they thought. Instead of saying let me find out for you, which I think would’ve been the more appropriate answer. This happened on several occasions when I asked about certain items going on sale or the return policies.
My second problem was not only were the employees all over the place and didn’t have a consistent answer but over five different Petco gave me a different answer on the return policy. However this is only Petco where the manager make their own policies. Have you ever heard of such things?
Petco has a 60 day policy for returning items with the receipt. I thought this may not apply for sale items, but after calling five different other Petco’s they all were willing to take back sales or clearance items as long as you have the receipt within that time period.
However the manager here named Gonzales was not willing to return any clearance items. It seems odd that a manager at certain Petco’s can make the policies up as he wants or sees fit. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be returning to the store.

This has to be one of the most unprofessional places I’ve been to. I take my baby for grooming at 1, est pick up at 3. I call at 3:30 since they forgot about me (keep in mind this is already long hrs for dog in a cage), they tell me he be ready by 4:30. I get there at 5 to be on the «safe side», the lady gives me some bs that my dog is this and that, says 15 more mins. I left at 6:00. I am not exaggerating. My dog was at this place for 5 hours straight. I asked for a discount, they refused. I paid almost $ 60. Poor baby freaking out until we finally got hm he felt safe again. Super thirsty and hungry. No dog deserves this treatment. No customer should be waiting for 5 hrs to get their baby back. I got no apologies, they actually were giving me weird looks as if I was crazy to be waiting at the store for 1 hr. Where else did they want me to go! (Keeping calm)

I’m a dog lover at heart so I love visiting the store. Have bought a number of tropical fish as well. The staff is very knowledgible and the store clean. Could use a little more help but overall a good experience.

There is a lady that’s a cat rescue in petco her business is called Just Cats, she «handles» the cat adoption there. SHE IS VERY RUDE! I found a baby kitten in the gutter and asked if she would take him. She said NO! I said okay do you know a place that might take kittens and I said I tried best friends but they dont take animals. She just yelled NO! as I was walking away she yelled out THANK BEST FRIENDS FOR ME! For a person that rescues cats she had no heart.
So I decided to stand in petco at the door way to see if anyone might want him. I even asked the workers if i can stand here and they were fine with it. The Just Cats rescue lady saw me standing there and told me to go away because she’s selling cats and that it was illegal for me to stand there. I told her im just looking for a home for him. She got upset and told the manager. The manager than told me that i had to leave.
For people who work and care for animals they were both very RUDE!

The customer service was good and he best part is we got to bring our dog and go shopping for him. They have many things to offer like natural alternatives for dog food and treats. They also have cute dog clothes that we couldn’t resist.
You can also get pet tags made right then and there.

Clean location very organized and friendly staff. What is not to like about Petco?!?

Store manager at Porter ranch, Nicky, was very rude and unhelpful and I had to do my own research to get your info. First off I would like to start by saying I have been a long time customer of Petco and have spent a lot of time and money there. I have also volunteered my time with animal donations and am I huge animal lover.
Now onto the issue. I had a printout of an item from your own company
for Royal Canin Dachshund dry food 10lb for $ 35.99 and instore price $ 41,99. As I checked out I simply asked to price match it with cashier associate, and she said no problem, just need to verify with manager. Nikcy came back saying that we can not match our OWN companies web site. So I asked to speak to her and explained, its PETCO and she just did not want to hear anything I said and brushed me off. So I explained to her I could go down the street to petsmart where they would be happy to take my business. I asked Nicky for corp # and just gave me the online sales 888# which was no help, I went back and asked her for your name and contact info and she rudely stated NO. This has been my only unpleasant experience with Petco, but I will make sure Its not recommended unless something is done.
Some people aren’t made to be in customer service and your manager Nicky is one of those. I have been in retail for over 15 years and this was completely unprofessional. For what? $ 6 DOLLARS!!!
