Hana Traditional Japanese Cuisine

Really good food. I was shocked that the Miso Soup had real mushrooms in it. I’m used to the broth + tofu combo, so was pleasantly surprised by the filling and dynamic contents of this soup. Sushi was also really, really great. I’ve ordered three times from here and each time its been reliable. Location is great to pick up from the train and bring home. Service is on point, too. While I’ve only taken-​out, this looks like a great place to eat-​in. Its always relatively empty, but the space is big and clean and open. I have a feeling that this restaurant will become more popular and fill up once its discovered. I look forward to a lively environment and wish this business success.

The food is good, service it’s ok price to expensive over all 3 star maybe would go back on occasion since so pricey. Definitely try the Chilean sea bass and the duck

Nicely decorated place with $$$$ menu. Saw on their website that they have a happy hour menu and figured to give it a try. The place was completely empty at 5:25pm. The staff was nice and friendly. When I got seated they brought me the regular menu. When I asked for the happy hour menu they said that they don’t have happy hour. When I mentioned that it was on their website they said they are working on the website still but didn’t honor any happy hour mentions.
It was very misleading and already a bad first experience. Nevertheless I ordered a beer at the bar and mentioned to them that they should take the happy hour menu off the website.
A party of three came in and also asked for the happy hour and was told the same thing.
Tricky place… Not sure if I can trust the food here. Finished my beer and left. Will not return.

Great sushi although on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. Excellent service too!!!
I live in port and it’s the only sushi place I go to. This is the best sushi on the north shore.

After living in the city for over a decade and working in midtown for even longer, I have grown accustomed to having a variety of high quality restaurants to choose from. Hana has very good sushi. I would say a notch below Toku but at least 2 notches above the rest of the sushi restaurants in town. The rolls are not 50% rice either which more than rationalizes their price point IMO. The ramen was a disappointment, but then again so is every place once you’ve been spoiled by an experience at Momofuku.
The fish is very fresh as are the other ingredients. The toro is great and the rock shrimp has been deveined… a major pet peeve of mine is to see the black vein on the back of my shrimp dish. I am excited to come back and try their other cooked entrees.

Beautiful restaurant. The food is very fresh and it’s display is pleasing to the eye. I ordered the Chilean sea bass apetizer and the rock shrimp tempura. It was delicious. I cant say for the sushi, but depending on my family’s reaction, it was fantastic. Defintely worth the try!

Top quality fish is used and the service is excellent. Some of the best salmon and tuna you will find at a sushi restaurant on Long Island. Worth the price! The ambiance is really nice and relaxing as well.

I tried this place when it first opened. I asked for the most popular entrée, and got the crispy duck. I didn’t care for it at all. Also tried the lobster lover roll for appetizer, which was decent.
Décor is nice. Prices are high.
Tried it again recently — got ramen to go. Was pretty disappointing. I don’t think I’ll try Hana again.

Really the best quality sushi around. Yes, it is a bit pricier but the sushi and hand rolls (almost like two) are amazing and consistently delicious. I never get that yuck feeling like I do after too much raw fish that is not of such high quality. Have taken out and eaten in about five times total and all was good except I did not like the dark meat chicken in the noodle soup. I wish people would start going there!!!

Have been to Hana 5 times now in the past 2 weeks. Lucky for me the place is still relatively undiscovered. I’m hoping this review is a gift for any sushi lover who reads it. The fish melts in your mouth. Most people reading this know that there are two types of Japanese restaurants that exist… functional and authentic. Hana is authentic in very way with a focus on super premium, fresh fish. If you want Americanized rolls they will make you whatever you want and it’ll be great but you will always see the rolls packed with super high quality, fresh fish. The Pieces of sushi are perfectly made and their cooked food is outstanding too. They have authentic Japanese wagyu A5 steaks that I have not tried, nor have I tried the Omakasi which I’m sure is fantastic because this restaurant is the real deal. Once discovered, Hana will be known as one of the top Japanese restaurants on Long Island. Fantastic service too. Finally, worth noting is that there is no question it’s an expensive restaurant and that’s because the fish is so high quality and super fresh and truly at a premium. You really do get what you pay for here.

Hot dishes good. sushi not good. Expensive. I would not recommend. There are so many choices for sushi in port Washington. This is not on my list.

Food, service and ambiance are very good. They did a great job with the interior; it’s nice to have an local upscale Japanese Restaurant. I came here with my family on a whim… too expensive for a casual night out with the family. $ 18 for my husband’s grey goose martini, and $ 16 for a glass of whispering angel is just too expensive for Port Washington… It’s great, but unless they lower their prices, they will never survive in PW.

This place is a gem. Often Asian restaurant leave ambience and décor to be desired — but not Hana. The open concept and light wood structure plays into an sophisticated, upscale feel. Dining here on a Saturday, it was happening but not over crowded. The atmosphere was cool but upbeat. You know you’re in a legit place if the bathrooms are fancy;) The staff was accommodating and professional — prompt and friendly but not too much. Now for the best part — the food. Wow. We tried several different nigiri and sashimi. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I went with a few friends and our fave was the fatty tuna and the beef. The rock shrimp appetizer and shumai was also delicious. An extra bonus — the drinks were impressively strong. They have a nice selection of cocktails, beer, wine. We had some delicious ginger and lychee martinis. I’d recommend this place to everyone! Great for dates and group meals!

Environment: In a great location that is right next to the LIRR. Comfy chairs and tables where you can sit at the sushi bar. Soothing music. Was a little cold so bring a cardi or a light sweater!
Food: Was AWESOME! My bf and I tried the prefixed meal or the Omakase where they bring you a piece of sushi one at a time! Got to try from fatty tuna to kobe beef! It was really good and satisfying. What better way to try sushi than directly at the sushi bar. Food also came in a timely manner so that was definitely a plus. We also tried the shrimp and a type of fish (I can’t remember) as a dish and it was really good!!!
Drinks: STRONG!!! It’s not some watered down crap.
Service: My water was always filled, that’s a plus. Waiters were very attentive and polite and cleared out my plate when I had edamame skin on it.
Would recommend coming here if you are looking for a great sushi experience.

The design is very good especially for Long Island. Music is pretty cool. nice long bar with high chairs and also a sushi bar. Place is big, spacious. Had cod and pork for appetizer-​was very good. Then soup was delicious and sushi in special plate. The lobster roll was interestingly combined but a little fishy lobster piece or maybe it just seemed so. Overall after pretty sh. ty sushi places in the area this place is refreshing. will be back. the thing is they did not have grand opening yet –they just trying it on for now-​soft opening or so to say. would recommend.

In Short: The location and food were great, the selection was good (a little smaller than most), and the prices were a little too high for just having a regular meal with friends.
My friends and I decided to try this place during its soft opening. The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere; clean, minimalist, and chic. The staff were very friendly and attentive, a trend which continued throughout the night. Then we were seated and got the menus. Now I’m assuming that they are local competition for Toku, which is a good idea as they don’t really have any, but holy molé; I can have at least a comparable meal at Toku for a fair sight less money. Now I should say that I’m young and not very well off, but it was enough to scare me away at least for a while. I should say that the food was well done; tasty, filling, and fresh, but as I said before; coupled with the price it just didn’t quite do it for me. If you are looking to entertain a client, impress a date, or go out for a special occasion, give it a try and you won’t regret it! Just don’t expect this to be your regular haunt unless, of course, you’re Mr. Gates.

This is the first time at this fine establishment, my wife and I had a great time seating at the sushi bar. We order sushi and sashimi all were tasty and very fresh. My favorite dish is definitely the miso cod, I have dine in many fine Japanese restaurant before, but the miso cod beats all. The service is excellent, the place is clean and big, they have a full bar. This is the first week of their soft opening. I will return for more food very soon.

I’ve been waiting for this restaurant to open for a long time. I finally saw it was opened today when I got off the train, so I decided to try it. They are running a soft opening from 6÷5−6÷10 from 5pm-​10pm. We didn’t order much as my husband had already eaten. We ordered the miso cod appetizer, mussels appetizer, soft shell crab roll, salmon sushi, king salmon sushi.
Everything was super fresh, I have to say it was the freshest I’ve ever had in sushi. The miso cod was deliciously glazed and came with pumpkin tempura which was a great combination. Even the soft shell crab was fresh. The mussels were large mussels, not the medium sized ones you usually get. I prefer medium mussels but it depends on personal preference.
I really liked their green tea. They serve genmaicha (green tea w/​roasted brown rice), it was very fragrant and had a roasted brown rice flavor. They refilled my tea once and gave me a new cup for the next round which is very nice so my tea is full of flavor.
I think the regular rolls were priced well but the rest of the items were a bit pricey. Probably this is what you would have to pay for fresh seafood of this grade.
They as also have wagyu beef but we didn’t order it.
