History

Established in 2013.

The Ravenscroft was reopened in July 2013 under new ownership. The Inn has been completely remodeled and refreshed.

The Ravenscroft Inn’s warmth and charm comes from its grand southern architecture. The elegant design and spacious rooms of this Charleston Single surround guests in comfort. The great room’s grand fireplace takes away the chill while the library provides contemplative comfort. All 2nd and 3rd floor rooms offer commanding views of ocean and mountains. Wake up early to catch the sunrise over Townsend Bay and then crawl back into bed or set out early for an early walk, run, ride or adventure. Please don’t wake the deer bedding in the lawns.

We have been in the great Pacific NW for over twenty years. We have fallen head over heels for all the region has to offer. Since moving here we have summited multiple volcanos and lesser peaks. We have cycled thousands of miles on our tandem bicycle and paddled our kayaks in close proximity to Orcas and Gray whales. Now we have the great opportunity to help you enjoy the playground we call home. Dave recently said good bye to a career in high technology to pursue his artistic passions. Cooking has been a secret outlet for the visual arts background that he ditched so long ago. Carolyn is a host extraordinaire and will make you feel quite at home in the Inn. We look forward to making your visit to magical Port Townsend one to remember.

Absolutely wonderful! A beautiful home in a great location. The rooms were exceptionally clean, the owners were quite helpful in orienting us to the town, and breakfast was delicious. They also had a number of options to accommodate my dietary needs, which was greatly appreciated! We will certainly be back!

Very nicely located between uptown and downtown. Within walking distance of most everything and a million dollar view from the two decks. This is an extremely nice place. Very neat and tidy.
Dave and Carolyn are very attentive to every detail and are very pleasant host. Like another reviewer noted they are very knowledgeable of what Port Townsend has to offer. Take advantage of their knowledge.
Dave gave us a tour of all the rooms and there is not a bad room in the place. All laid out nicely for a comfortable stay. The lower room we had was very quiet.
The breakfast was 5 star gourmet. The homemade yogurt and granola was delicious. Followed by a very substantial second course.
Plenty of coffee and juice to round the morning out.
I am giving this place 5 stars as we will be back again. I am worried that the high rating will make it difficult to get rooms but they deserve it.

To celebrate our 9th anniversary, we knew that we wanted to go to Port Townsend, but weren’t sure which B&B to stay at. We quickly discovered that they pretty much all look the same, Victorian style with antique (read: dated & potentially breakable) furniture. But when we found Ravenscroft Inn, we found exactly what we were hoping for! We stayed in the Admiralty Suite, which ended up being perfect for our overnight getaway. Our only complaint was the general cold temperature of the room (we pretty much kept the fireplace & the space heater running the whole time), but that had more to do with the winter season than anything else. The deep claw-​footed soaker tub was easily worth the price of the room. But then there was also the comfy chairs and the romantic fireplace — the perfect spot for a few rounds of cribbage! The king sized bed was hands down one of the most comfortable beds that we have ever slept in, a perfect night’s sleep. Our breakfast was yogurt paired with granola & fresh fruit, blueberry scones, chicken sausages, and a goat cheese & asparagus frittata. The staff is warm & friendly, engaging with their guests & more than helpful. Without question, the Ravenscroft Inn is one of the best B&Bs that a person could choose for their trip to Port Townsend.

The perfect B&B. Ravenscroft Inn has it figured out for guest comfort. The beds are comfort supreme with creamy cotton sheets. everything you need but not too
Much. The common areas are beautifully decorated and comfortable as well.
Breakfast was gourmet every morning with hot water teas and a homemade cookie or sweet breads for guests every evening. The outside guest areas are filled will beautiful flowers and shrubs. Could hardly wait to get back to my room in the evening.
Wish there was A Ravenscroft in every community I visit.

This is a wonderful romantic place to stay. I strongly recommend a room on the second floor with access to the veranda. Very relaxing especially after a day of shopping and sightseeing. The breakfasts were unique and delicious. There are beverages available in the kitchen at all times and you may use the guest refrigerator for your own beverages and wine if you wish. The inn was extensively remodeled so has a new feel to it which I appreciate. My husband and I stayed in the Fireside Room but we did not make a fire as our stay was early August.

We were passing through Port Townsend, so we only stayed one night. We will be going back to Port Townsend just to stay here. The building is beautiful, and situated very close to town. The views were beautiful, and the room we had was immaculate and charming. The owners ensured we had suggestions for dinner options, knew how to use the espresso machine for any late night cravings, and provided one of the best breakfasts I have ever had at a B&B. The whole experience was perfect.

Yep, fantastic stay. The structure is on the newer side; while you lose some of the charm of staying in a vintage place, convenience and comfort more than make up for it. It’s tastefully decorated and everything is immaculate. We were on the third floor, and it was worth the extra expense. Lovely room, BIG in-​room spa-​style tub, lots of fluffy towels and a couple of robes to match, in-​room coffee maker, outdoor table, nice views.
Coffee maker in the kitchen area is accessible to guests, and makes a delightful espresso. Yummy cookies, though they ran out. Morning newspapers are provided in the library, it was nice to brew a cup of that rich espresso, then sit in the comfy chairs and enjoy the morning for a while.
Breakfast was fresh and wonderful, assortment of carefully prepared, high-​quality fruits was my favorite part.
We especially liked proximity to downtown and uptown; there’s a whole business district up the hill from the main business district that I’d never seen. Ravenscroft is also close to the Saturday farmer’s market.

We stayed one night in the Rainier room. The room was impeccably clean and very welcoming. It has a great view of the water. The house as a whole is beautiful. The owner made us a delicious breakfast in the morning. Close to downtown.

I would rank this as one of the best B&Bs we’ve stayed at. We came in for a two night stay and everything from the check in process to the quality of the suite was amazing. The breakfast was impressive. They serve just the right potions, not too big where you feel uncomfortably full yet not so small that you’re like «I’ll need to eat lunch soon» type of thing. Personally, I never eat a huge bfast anyway so it worked out well for me. Our suite was super clean and comfy and had an awesome view of the Bay. The location is excellent. The Downtown part is within a short walking distance. We ended up just leaving our car parked at the B&b most of the time. I really liked the additional amenities of loose leaf tea and espresso in the dining room/​kitchen which you can help yourself to anytime of the day. Not to mention the library was a nicely added bonus to our stay. The only noticeable thing that I would point out is the fact that their dining area is set up a restaurant style (separate tables vs one large dining room) While this isn’t necessarily a negative thing, I just thought I’d point out. All in all I recommend this place.

I have stayed at B and Bs all over the US, so trust me when I say that the Ravenscroft is the class of the category. The Inn is simply lovely, inside and out. Every inch is immaculate and stylish, convenient and beautiful. All of the facilities are modern and everything works. The architecture is traditional «real» furniture; the rooms are spacious with lofty ceilings and huge functional windows that frame glorious exposures and views. You won’t believe your eyes when you see the open kitchen!
Staying at the Ravenscroft is an immersive experience in grace, elegance, and serenity. Try the Fireside Room for splendid views and toasty cozy nights. Do NOT miss the eastern morning skies! Or the deer on the Inn’s lawn!
Dave, the Innkeeper, is an accomplished and creative chef. We were guests of the Inn for a full week and we did not see the same breakfast twice! Don’t miss his lemon ricotta pancakes with berry compote! Or his bacon cheddar waffle! Truth is, each day’s breakfast was distinctive, beautifully prepared and served, and simply wonderful eating.
Dave and his wife Carolyn are very well-​informed on local attractions and sights, and helpful and thoughtful in every way. There is Wi-​Fi, a well-​stocked library with board games and daily newspapers, guest access to sodas and bottled water — and Dave makes cookies every afternoon! His Snickerdoodles were simply exceptional.
I am of the school that believes that consumer reviews are most credible when they provide some constructive criticism as well as call out the high points. Well, I have tried! Yes, I have tried and tried, but I cannot find a fault with the Ravenscroft and I am done trying. This is a lovely place to stay in a gorgeous and fascinating part of the US. I wish that we had discovered it years ago — The Ravenscroft Inn is definitely on our «must return» list.

Ravenscroft Inn sets the bar high for B&Bs. I took a trip to Port Townsend by myself to unwind from the stressful city of Los Angeles. This place was exactly what I was looking for. It feels more like you are staying in a relative’s home than a B&B. Dave and Carolyn were extremely kind and helpful in directing me to different restaurants and events the town had to offer during my stay. The room I stayed in was very clean and lovely, recently remodeled but done so in a way to reflect the tone of the town. The breakfasts were excellent every day, you could tell Dave really takes pride in his cooking. Homemade cookies and an espresso machine were also available to guests. I will definitely come back to the Ravenscroft Inn!

We do not consider ourselves fans of B&B’s, but the Ravenscroft has as well on our way to changing our minds.
We were in Port a Townsend for a family celebration last week, and chose the Ravenscroft Inn for our two night stay. We are thinking it’s the perfect B&B for us: charming and homey, and modern with the creature comforts we most appreciate. We loved having the refrigerator stocked with soda and water for our use. I loved having access to fresh brewed coffee, any time I wanted it. We enjoyed the cookie every evening too.
We stayed in the Baker room, on the top floor. The views from the room are spectacular. The bathroom view to the waterfront will distract you, it is so fine. The bathroom was modern, efficient, and small. It worked well for us, who love showers. The room was quiet, with the fog horns of the ferries in the distance.
Location is perfect for exploring the town. You can easily walk to the park, walk downtown, or walk uptown.
Breakfast was excellent, and my husband is still talking about the omelette and the scone. We departed early to catch the ferry, and Dave sent us off with a yogurt parfait that was perfect for our foggy morning ferry ride.
Find a reason to visit this wonderful inn!

I booked the entire Ravenscroft Inn for all our groomsmen and bridesmaids to stay at over our wedding weekend and could not have been happier with the experience! Dave was very responsive and helpful throughout the booking process, and he and Carolyn were both incredibly kind and welcoming when we each arrived. With all the last minute components of the wedding set-​up taking up our attention over the weekend, it was spectacular to have such a beautiful, clean and relaxing home-​base all weekend.
Since our friends were in nearly all the rooms, I got to check them all out, and was really impressed with the tasteful decorating in each one. PT can be quite heavy-​handed in its Victorian era décor, so it’s refreshing to find a tastefully and modestly decorated place to stay!
In addition all the above positives, the Inn is really conveniently located to get to beautiful Chetzemoka Park or a quick walk into downtown. Further, the breakfasts were all delicious. I really can’t recommend this place enough.

Lovely room, lovely light, lovely bed, lovely porch and lovely dog! A really convenient location for Uptown and downtown Port Townsend. The B&B was spacious, clean, sweet and quiet. There’s an open dining room and kitchen, along with a classical, comfortable reading room with lots of leisurely reading material. The water was hot and the food was great. We would definitely stay again :)

Saw that it was highly rated and made the reservation about an hour before we arrived in Port Townsend. Dave confirmed right away and we were welcomed as we walked through the door. The room was very nice and it was clear from the beginning that this was a high quality B&B — nothing cheesy about the furnishings or the décor and the place has a beautiful charm that makes you feel right at home. The breakfast was first class and one of the best that we’ve had. My wife will tell you that the fruit, granola and yogurt parfait was to-​die-​for. Every effort was made to steer us towards what we were looking for there or in town. We felt very taken care of. This is not just a good one — this place is excellent.

My wife and I enjoyed a trip away from our kiddo and first time ever going to Port Townsend. As my first B&B experience, I was wondering how this would be as I have traveled to hotels all my life.
I would have to say the experience was near perfection and I would rather go to this type of quality of B&B than a regular hotel.
The home itself was lovely, modernized, but had every charm of a vintage Victorian home. Landscape was perfect, clean and well kept.
Inside, there were pieces of artwork that complimented the home (not like it was a place randomly throw a piece on the wall and hopefully it works).
We stayed in the fireside room and I would have to say for not having a fireplace, it was nice to have one especially when it was a little colder in the evening.
We didn’t take advantage of the porch, but the view was awesome and I could see if you sat out there, you could get lost, just relaxing.
The breakfast was perfect in portion and taste. Dave is a great chef and they really pride themselves on quality products, sustainable everything, organic everything!
Next we stay, we are going to stay here again for sure. I would recommend staying at least 2 to 3 days, we only stayed 1 night because that is all we could get away for!

Just spent four nights at the Ravenscroft Inn, which has reopened under new ownership. Dale and Carolyn have spent a ton o’ money tastefully renovating, updating, furnishing and landscaping this beautiful building. It’s comfy and cozy and within walking distance of shops and restaurants in historic downtown Port Townsend. Dale’s a fantastic cook. His breakfasts were a highlight of our visit. I highly recommend the Ravenscroft Inn. We’ll be back, for sure.

Great location, very clean and the privacy was great too. The breakfast was amazing, and they had freshly made muffins and cappuccinos with freshly sliced fruit along with yogurt and granola. The main breakfast was a sunny side up egg on top of ricotta over a lightly buttered and oven baked bread. BOOM! Dave was the house keeper and gave great advice of where to explore in the area and even gave us a map with areas he highlighted. We plan on coming back for sure! Thanks Dave!
