Specialties
H&K is a family owned insurance agency representing many fine carriers. We have been serving Kitsap county for over 40 years.
Our preferred markets include PEMCO, The Hartford, and GMAC.
We also represent non-standard carriers like Dairyland, Viking, FIC, and many others. Same day SR22’s. NO FEES!
Our goal is to find the best value for our clients’ insurance dollar. That means that regardless of commission, we search out the best deal for you. We refuse to charge brokerage fees.
If you only qualify for high risk, or «non-standard» insurance, that’s ok. We will find you a great deal, and then monitor your account. When you are eligible for a better policy we will notify you so you can come in and get a better policy at a lower cost.
History
Established in 1969.
Our agency was started by my parents, Timm & Pam Heydel.
They moved here from San Diego in the late 60’s after my Dad lost his job. He had extensive experience in insurance, and had handled some very large account. At one point he had insured Food Maker Corp which is the parent company of Jack-in-the-Box and Purina.
When they arrived in Kitsap county they were broke. They lived in a VW Bus for awhile, but not for long. My Dad started working for an agency at Merit Mart (which later became Value Giant, Then Eagle Hardware). He sold personal lines insurance out of a 10×10 booth.
His employer recognized my Dad’s potential and asked him to move to Seattle… he declined. But, he did offer to buy the agency from his employer, adn H&K Agency was launched!
Now, our agency is in it’s second generation. My wife Sara and I (Adrian) are excited to carry on our family’s business. Our 7 year old son, Ethan, is already asking for my office… I think he’ll have to wait.

I was born and raised in Kitsap County. Graduated Olympic High in 1992. I attended night school at Olympic College while I worked full time at our family’s insurance agency.
My father, being a 1st generation immigrant from Germany, brought with him the belief that children carry in their fathers’ footsteps. In Germany, if your father was a shoemaker, you would be a shoemaker. Therefore, I was trained from a very young age, the insurance business.
I worked in our agency, in one respect or another, from age 9 up. Although at age 19, I decided insurance wasn’t for me, so I set off for Mexico. I spent about 7 months living in Puerto Vallarta, serving drinks at an ocean front condo resort. It was a fun job, but the pay stunk…$ 5 a day, for 11 hours work! When my passport and immigration papers were stolen, I was deported.
With a new understanding of just how good I had it, I returned to Washington, and never left again.
