Sandcastle Learning Center

This business has 3 centers, and they have a good name in the community. I do not have children there, but having over 20 years experience in the Child Care industry, I think that can speak from that experience. I have toured the centers, and they are set up and run well from what I saw. Very clean, organized, and under control. The reason that I did this was I read Pam A’s review and flags went up immediately. Whenever someone other than the parent complains, it’s third party information that is not always accurate. In this case, the grandmother is defending her grandson who apparently is a discipline problem. Funny how she speaks as though she was there when everything happened — obviously taking it to be 100% true what her perfect grandson told her. This happens all the time — people do not want to hear it when their own act up. Sorry, what I get from her story is that the child doesn’t listen, spits on other kids, and wants to be the center of attention, and is generally disruptive — probably due to the way that his grandmother treats this little angel when she has him around her.
The true test of a center is the track record with parents and DCF — check out those when enrolling a child. Avoid overprotective complaining grandmothers who report as though they were present when incidents happen.

Check out somewhere else. This daycare blatantly disregards legal requirements. My grandson attend this school for only another day. He will be removed from the VPK program to another school. They had 2 teachers for this class, one credentialed as required who left to have a baby, congrats to her. However, while there she did not play fair. In the midst of a problem between my grandson and another child, it became painfully clear that my grandson was being reprimanded and made to feel like he was always at fault and when directly questioned this teachers response was «because he listens better’ «it’s easier to deal with him than the other child». What sense does that make? Now there is only one teacher in this VPK classroom who has not yet earned her required credentials. Not only that but there are 20 children in the .a.m. class and they are only allowed to handle 11 children on their on durng VPK. My grandson was reprimanded again by this teacher for allegedly spitting on a child; when we did some digging, we found that he was only puffing up his cheeks and then using his hands, popping his cheeks in. He was trying to make his friends laugh. Yeah, don’t take your child there if getting a head start on educaion is important to you
