TL; DR: If you’re particular about room cleanliness, do not stay here.

We chose this resort because we were doing hikes nearby as we were circumnavigating the Olympic National Park during a weekend trip.
We stayed in the A-​Frame Chalet for 1 night. The shower was DIRTY and there was a huge spider inside on the bathroom window sill. (Not to mention lots of spiders hanging outside right above the front door entrance.) The shower head was too low; I estimate it was only 5′ high. There was a metal soap dish attached inside the shower and it was filthy. The toilet was clean, though. The bathroom sink was old; it wasn’t filthy but I wouldn’t call it clean.
Inside the room, there were two beds and a futon. The beds were nice, comfortable and clean. The futon didn’t look very comfortable but none of us slept on it. The room was pretty big and had a dining table, fridge, and microwave. The second bed was upstairs in a loft. There was decent cell phone reception at the resort as well.
The front desk/​main lodge is open from 8 AM to 9 PM. If you need to check in after hours, they will call you or leave you a message letting you know where to get your keys. When we checked in, we paid in advance for breakfast buffet so it saved us $ 3 each. Breakfast buffet was average; nothing to rave about. There were breakfast potatoes, biscuits, gravy, jam, cinnamon rolls, oatmeal, bacon, yogurt, cranberry juice, orange juice, etc. It ran from 8 AM to 11 AM.
The staff here was friendly and the views are great. But considering that room cleanliness is most important to me, in hindsight, I would have stayed in Port Angeles and driven back to the area to do the hikes. I was worried about wasting time if we back-​tracked, but Port Angeles isn’t that far from Lake Crescent. To get to this resort, it takes about 15 minutes on a windy road down to the lake anyway.

Chalet:
A-​frame type room with an additional upstairs bed.
It is very cosy, big enough room. The stairs take up too much space and are stuck in the middle of the room.
Master bed next to the entrance and bathroom. Small stall shower had low shower head (and I am average height).
Large kitchen counter, but nothing but sink, microwave and fridge. No dishes/​utensils.
Sofa bed also included.
Outside there is a picnic table with no privacy.
Needs a little work, especially in the bathroom.
Other accommodations available including rv, cabins, rooms.
Lake:
Absolutely stunning. Must see.
Boat rental not available even with a tickle.
Restaurant:
Too expensive, not very good.
Espresso available at the store. No decaf. Automatic machine — not very good. Soy milk available sometimes.

LCR was not our first choice for an anniversary stay but our first choice was sold out. I’ve camped at this resort in the past. The views and lake access are epic. We rented one of the rustic cabins. The huge gap under the door was a concern for critters getting in as was the boarded up back window but we moved past that. It’s rustic. The deal breaker for us was when my wife saw a huge spider crawl across the floor. Then a second. After killing four of them we packed up in the middle of the night and headed to a motel. The resort was accommodating and credited us back for our second night. We came back the next day to enjoy the lake and rented a paddle boat. Heading back to the dock the boat broke and we had to get towed into shore. The attendant was put off by the burden of dealing with a broken boat and could care less about our safety or our experience. Lake Crescent is a must see in the Olympic Nat Park but just know its wilderness. The cabins are very basic. Staff are mostly teenagers and college students who could use some training on people skills and customer care. With that said, we will be back for day visits but only stay at our first choice resort.

We had read many mixed reviews, but decided to give it a try anyways. This place is gorgeous! It is right on Lake Crescent. Absolutely beautiful view of the mountains all around it.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They actually care if you have a problem and work to fix it.
We stayed in an A frame chalet that was incredibly close to the water. It has no A/​C which wouldn’t normally be a problem here, but it was in the 90’s during the day so they got quite warm. Rooms could use an update, but clean and comfortable.

My girlfriend and I visited Lake Crescent as part of a trip around Olympic National Park at the beginning of June 2015. We came in expecting pretty bare bones accommodations but were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort. Even with the chilly/​foggy weather at the time, we had a good experience at scenic Lake Crescent.
We stayed in Rustic Sleep Cabin #7. There are picnic tables and fire pits in front of the cabins (though you need to buy the firewood), so after arrival we brought out a bottle of wine and got to know some of our new neighbors over a nice fire. The cabin was definitely roomy enough for the two of us, and the beds were reasonably comfortable. The electric base heaters worked well. The shower stall, while cramped and not attractive, was highly functional! Lots of pressure and hot water, which was great after getting soaked while rafting on the Elwha. Housekeeping must have noticed all of the used tissues in the trash bin and deduced that one or both of us was sick, so they thoughtfully left an extra tissue box for us.
Keep in mind that these are simple, dated cabins, and you’re here for the gorgeous scenery and hiking! The Rustic Sleep Cabins do not have a fridge so consider bringing a cooler (some of the other lodging options do have a fridge). They have ice and other necessities in the convenience store at the lodge. Also, there are very few electrical outlets (only two, I think) so don’t plan on charging a gazillion phones while you’re here. Not that there is good cell coverage here anyway.
We didn’t eat at the restaurant but it looks like it has a great view. We had other hiking and rafting plans so didn’t get to take advantage of the canoe rental, but on a nice day that would be a mighty pleasant experience.
We found the location to be a good launching point for activities on the Elwha River and Hurricane Ridge (to the east) and Sol Duc River/​Falls (to the west).
The «$$$$» rating on Unilocal was certainly not accurate for us. Our room was probably the most affordable stay on our trip. Maybe that rating was for the restaurant, not the lodging.
In short — come with appropriate expectations and you should have a great stay!

Despite my fears from fellow reviewers, I was pleasantly surprised at the A Frame Chalets. They were clean, quaint, and had absolutely stunning views. Although we were sad that there wasn’t campfires for each a frame, there was a community fire pit & extras in the camping area right behind the a frames. There were many rental boats to choose from. The only slight issue was a shortage of food at the breakfast, but the food we had was yummy. Will definitely go back and look forward to it!

This place was our second choice in the area and given the mixed reviews, we were apprehensive. We had a pleasant surprise and had a great time. I am reviewing the lodgings, which may not be for everyone. The place is simple, old, but reasonably kept. Bathrooms could use updating. We stayed in an A frame chalet, that is in a row attached to its neighbors. This means you will be close to your neighbors, which we enjoyed as everyone was so nice.
It had the most amazing view and location of the crystal clear lake and surrounding mountains. It had huge grassy area where kids and families could run, play, picnic or just lay out. When we were there, the lake was warm enough to swim in. It had docks with kayak and paddle board rentals, which we loved.
Our unit had an old loft and a bare-​bones kitchen. By this I mean, yes it did have a kitchen with a sink, little microwave, little refrigerator and tons of empty cabinets. There is nothing to cook with or serve on. Note that there is no BBQ which caught us by surprise, so they let us go to the campground area and use one of the fire pits in an unused site.
Overall, this place had a happy, joyous vibe in a beautiful setting. People were genuinely having a great time. It was a great family place and we would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

There are many things to rate about this resort. There is the lake, the campground, the cabins and then, there is the restaurant. We didn’t stay here so can’t rate the cabins or the campground. We did spend time admiring the gorgeous, gorgeous lake and then, we ate at the restaurant. What I am rating is the restaurant and the beautiful location.
The gorgeous lake and setting definitely gets a 5 star rating. It’s absolutely beautiful. However, the restaurant is something else. Maybe we would give it a 2 star. The rhubarb pie we ordered was nummy. However, the clam chowder was probably the worst I had ever had and I’ve eating chowder all my life and up and down both coasts. This was bad, bad, bad. It was ordered and paid for at the counter. When it was delivered to our table we were then told it was gluten free and dairy free. If he had told us that it wasn’t regular chowder, we wouldn’t have ordered it. It was thick and lumpy and hardly any taste. I took a few bites and we left. Awful.
So, how do I rate this? Well, we would go back to kayak or for another piece of pie. Other than that, not so sure we’d try anything else from the kitchen without asking how it was cooked.

Stayed in the A frames at Log Cabin Resort on beautiful Crescent Lake. We are National Park fans and travel to a new one each summer. OMG our worst stay in a NP yet. Will never stay in a park run by Aramark again! We don’t mind older properties as long as they are maintained and clean. Well… these are neither. No effort has been made to update these cabins or to keep them clean and bug free. Bathroom floor… filthy. Further if you ask for your sheets to be changed after 4 nights on them… nothing but attitude from the staff. They would not change my son’s sheets because his «personal belongings» were on the bed. Yeah, his stuffed animal and book. However, «we left you a set so you can do it yourself». I was floored. The restaurant was good and the guy that works in the store was very knowledgable about the beers they sold. The boat rental guy was nice. $ 164 per night plus tax & fees… next time we’ll stay at the Red Lion in Port Angeles.

Despite the poor reviews, we decided to stay here with another couple, and we’re pleasantly surprised!
We stayed in two of the rustic cabins, and they were as we expected. Certainly rustic and dated, but clean and comfortable. Each cabin in set up differently, so call and ask about the layout of what’s available. In front of each cabin is a picnic table and fire ring. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but chose to grill in front of the cabin for dinner.
The breakfast buffet had hot eggs, bacon, oatmeal, and fruit that were all pretty good. Better than the average hotel continental breakfast, but nothing to stand in line for.
Most importantly, and missing from all the other reviews, they have a GREAT craft beer selection in the store. This will help you get over the concerns you may have about your room.
Worth a trip back later in the season to enjoy the water. The views from the lawn are spectacular.

My wife and I stayed in one of the lodge rooms for a few days. It was a simple, slightly dated, but clean room. Best views around and comfortable beds, new shower head was nice after a day of hiking. I want to break this down into several categories:
Food: 4 out of 5 stars. Dinner was surprisingly good, staff very friendly. Had the mushroom stroodle, clam chowder and pan fried chicken. A bit expensive, but it’s a national park…
Rooms: 3 out of 5. Like I said, clean but simple. Best part was the view and private patio outside. Nice beds. Just a bit pricy, but again national park.
Atmosphere/​staff: 5 out of 5! From the time we checked in, to the food service, to those helping us rent a kayak, to checkout, everybody was very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Even suggested a few spots on the lake to check out in the kayak, a must do!
Overall while it’s not to most «fancy» place to stay at in Olympic Park, each major point is a day drive or less away (coast/​rainforest, hurricane ridge) and there are other hikes closer by. There is nothing better than being away from it all enjoying the lake view!

Dirty, dirty, dirty. Shower is full of mildew, sink yellow with hot and cold water faucets far apart, had to switch back and forth between the two extreme temperatures since the waters don’t meet. Carpet full of stains. Woke up with spider on the pillow. Took pictures, will post them after end of trip. Only good thing about this place is the view and that it is right beside the lake.

I think everyone reading online reviews should keep in mind that the majority of people who take the effort to review a business are those that have a very bad experience, or people who are just naturally critical. I am writing this review because My wife and I had a great experience. As far the price. It is NOT wildly unacceptable. First of all they don’t require a two night minimum during the summer season, and I was able to get a reservation two weeks ahead. It’s the summer season in one of the most beautiful, tranquil spots in the WORLD! Perhaps, the difference for us was staying in the Lodge Rooms. specifically room 4. Two Queen beds with nice clean linens. It wasn’t a posture-​pedic bed, but it was actually a very comfortable night. There is a sink and a mini fridge in the room. Decent bathroom with nice shower. There is a back semi private patio with table and chairs, and it is litterally 50 feet from the lake shore, with big picture windows to let all the light in and the beautiful views. All of this cost $ 168 for the night! If you want cheaper, then bring your own tent, but honestly, the view alone is worth that money. All of the other park lodges are over $ 200 a night and good luck getting a reservation. Yes, they may have more upscale digs, but honestly there comes a point where MORE IS LESS! This price also included breakfast buffet! (normally $ 12.95, which I would happily have paid because it is all you can eat, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, fruit, make your own waffles, coffee, juice! The setup was very nice. I think the dining room was inviting, quaint, great views. We had dinner there as well, which was perfectly fine, you order at the register and take your number to your table and the servers bring you your food. You can have beer (kilt lifter, and Mannys, YES) and wine of a washington assortment. I REALLY don’t understand why someone would have a bad time at this place. JUST KEEP IN MIND, it is «LOG CABIN» resort, NOT «five star, foot rub, stone massage resort». I will absolutely be going back and trying the chalets and rustic cabins, and campground. We didnt get to explore the lake much, but this would be a perfect place to call home base next time. I URGE everyone to give Log Cabin Resort the respect it deserves, and a chance if you are not sure where to stay on the peninsula!!!

Staff wouldnt give us towels because we came «too late». So we pay like 100 bucks for a mediocre cabin and we aren’t even allowed to shower? wooooooow.
The view was ok. Not that big of a deal honestly. I’ve seen better in west virginia.

I felt like none of the other reviews were very comprehensive so I felt like a detailed review was necessary to help you decide.

The Property: this property is basically a campground with amenities. Behind us there were people camping and then scattered throughout the area there are multiple types of shelters which are priced differently. The view of lake crescent and the proximity to the water is amazing. There is a decently stocked store inside the main lodge. They have a soft serve machine and espresso bar inside the store and also have basic groceries and some beer and wine. There is a boat dock where you can rent kayaks (single and double) canoes and paddleboats. The lake entrance for bathing and swimming was not great– could be upgraded to a proper beach
The Restaurant: I would strongly recommend that you bring groceries from Port Angeles where there are large well stocked grocery stores. There is a restaurant. They serve a breakfast buffet ($ 12.95 pp, open at 8). We never went because 8 is too late for us since you often have long drives in the peninsula in order to see what you want. We ate dinner there one night. Again remember that this is a campground, and the food follows this theme. Pretty basic stuff (cheeseburgers, fish and chips and pizzas, salads) nothing to write home about, and the service is weird. You order at the front, take a seat and then they serve you. You may have to wait a while. There are tons of places to make a fire on the property if you prefer grilling (they told us that we could use an unoccupied campsite or there is a campfire area near the lake). We simply brought in groceries for most of our meals (there was a mini-​fridge in the A frames). The restaurant is fine in a pinch but you aren’t going for the food.
The room: this is where things fall apart, literally. The room needs a lot of work before they should charge $ 160 per night. Initial impressions aren’t terrible. There is a spiral staircase in the center of the room which leads up to the loft where there is a steeply sloped roof with a full size bed. There is a bed downstairs (full) and a futon as well. A family or group of friends could stay there but there is no privacy other than the bathroom. The bathroom is large enough and there is a good amount of counter space but it needed a lot if help. The toilet ran, the sink was cracked and rusted and it did not feel clean. They did stock with toiletries. The shower was hot every time we used it (which allayed my fears). The main room was partially carpeted and seemed clean. The kitchen was equally in need of update. there was a broken coffee machine (has Norelco made coffee machines since the ‘80s?). And there was a ton of cabinetry which was totally empty. As stated before there is a mini fridge which did it’s job. No ac or heat but the windows open to change the temps (some are broken, of course).
Overall, if you can’t get into Lake Crescent Lodge and you don’t mind overpaying for something that is more than a little rough, the views and lake access are nice and so is the staff (very helpful!)

The one constant I found in the other reviews is that this place was «pricey» for the way it looks. However, I did find the area family friendly and with a amazing view of Lake Crescent. We stayed in the A-​frame cabin. The staff was helpful and responsive to what we needed. I do recommend that you buy your groceries in town (Port Angeles) as they are cheaper than what the general store has. All in all the was a decent stay on our adventure around the Olympic Peninsula. Your best bet is to stay across the lake at Lake Crescent Lodge. Or if you have a 5^th Wheel or RV park it at the Log Cabin Resort. Like the other reviewer I would like to give them a half star but I’m unable too…

Whatever you do, don’t forget any personal items at the Resort. I left a camera item and two weeks later, we’re still trying to get them to mail it to us to Seattle. No more than 30min from Port Angeles, their mail only goes out on Mondays, and of course they forgot to mail our item (last Monday).
We were told today from the gal who answers the phone that the postman hasn’t delivered mail there since ⁹⁄₁₁. Go figure.
We found our rustic cabin on a tilt, and with beds too soft for any back that you want to keep in alignment. Food was mediocre and the menu wasn’t very interesting. We also found that this part of the lake is quite noisy due to powerboats, so not the peaceful Lake Crescent we’re used to at the other lodge.
The A-​frame cabins by the water are in a line giving you no privacy from others, but a possibility for large groups or family needing to stay together. The views were nice nonetheless.

If I could give half stars, I’d give one to Log Cabin Resort. It’s somewhere between ‘meh, I’ve had better’ and ‘a-​ok’.
We stayed in one of the «rustic cabins» with a lake view and it was BEAUTIFUL! The cabin was fine, two large rooms, a bathroom with a shower. They have boat rentals that I was dying to make use of — we didn’t end up taking advantage of em, because our dog was feeling a little needy. Which brings me to my next point.. .. .we chose the Log Cabin Resort because it allowed dogs; only trouble is that dogs weren’t really allowed very many places on the property, which severely limited what we could enjoy as well (the lakeside, restaurant — no patio, docks, etc). Oh, and there wasn’t much for hiking that didn’t require a drive.
It was fine as a stop-​over, but we might consider a different lodge if we wanted to enjoy hiking and a vaca with the pooch.

I didn’t stay here. But I went and checked it out, it looked funky and fun and the lake is beautiful so we almost stayed there, but the restaurant was closed and there was no food for miles so we decided to go to the Lake Crescent Lodge instead and good thing we did because we stayed in a beautiful cottage with a fireplace.
The Log Cabin «Resort» was super pricey for what it was. The room was an a-​frame cabin looked like a typical ski cabin, super shabby with beds to house a bunch of people but we were only 2 so it didn’t make sense to spend $ 138 on a crappy looking cabin.
