Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa

This place was probably pretty rad in the 90’s– now it’s pretty average. If you’re staying in the main hotel make sure you have a white noise app on your phone to drown out the noise from the lounge. If you’re staying in the villas make sure you pack an umbrella. I will say their conference food isn’t half bad– actually ate some decent salmon. It is 3.5 miles from the beach and you’ll want to go work out at 5 am otherwise you won’t get a machine

Always the place to be! I used this as a birthday venue and had a party here a couple of years ago and every view is breathtaking. The access to the beach is spectacular. The food is superb at all locations. They also have townhouses which I rented and had several friends stay over as we celebrated thru the night. I found the townhouses to be of a exceptional value if you have a large number in your group. They offer a brunch which I recommend locals to drive over for any weekend. The have recently remodeled and the resort is even more beautiful.

I stayed here the second week of January 2016 for a conference. This is a beautiful Hotel with an attached Conference Center that is a very short walk from your room and the elevators. It is a small facility extremely comfortable, easy to navigate.
The rooms are small but beautifully appointed with nice comfy beds and beautiful granite countertops in the bathroom and bar area, with a small refrigerator and in room coffee maker, which we did not use.
The restaurants are pricey but the food is very good. Sometimes the service isn’t quite up to par and you think that perhaps the staff may be overwhelmed by large quantities of people all coming in at the same time.
My single complaint is actually a design issue. The center of the facility is a large atrium and our room overlooked the beautiful atrium. However at night people sit in that area just outside the pub, where there is a bar, and drink and laugh and talk. The sound whafts up and you can practically hear every word. You can definitely hear loud shrieking, laughing, talking. So bring earplugs!

Avoid like the plague till after March 2016! Renovating property and it’s a mess. Jack hammering New Years Day … Really! A resort the day after New Years Eve waking guests with jack hammers, pools closed. Ugh!
I used points for a stay expecting a signature resort experience. I won’t return to this property.

I tried to give it 3.5 stars. I think today its 3 stars. Within 6 months it could be 4. They clearly got the message that the hotel is SEVERELY dated. Pool being redone finally. Long overdue. The outside of the hotel should be next.
Inside its a pretty good looking hotel. They are redoing the welcome desks (needed).
They have two gyms. One in the main hotel and one in the spa. The one in the spa is much more spacious and inviting. Spa looks nice.
The gym in main hotel is small and feels cramped. Likely because it is.
Rooms are good. Bed is comfortable and firm. Bathrooms are ok. They use a cloth shower curtain which to me is absurd but the rest works fine. TV and channels are fine. Didn’t eat at restaurant.
Them charging a resort fee in the winter is insane especially with pool being worked on.
Rates can be very reasonable. Staff is very accommodating.
Ask for a room away from the main lobby. It’s noisy at night and the antiquated design takes away from the stay.

What a fantastic experience. I stayed at this Marriott for three nights traveling on business– though I did get to enjoy some local golf.
The entire, and I mean the entire, staff here is beyond friendly, thoughtful, and hospitable. The bartenders in the pub were friendly, and prompt. The valet guys were one step ahead of me– which was great bc I was running late to my meeting. The waiter at Vernons for dinner was knowledgeable and was able to make a great recommendation. The real kicker was that the gentleman that made the omlets remembered my order. That kind of experience makes a guest feel special and I have to tip my hat to the team.
Thanks, Marriott Sawgrass! I’ll be back.

This is a classy place with nice views of an amazing golf course. I am not sure I would stay here if I wasn’t golfing or attending a conference (which I was). It is a very nice conference location.
The rooms are nice, typical Marriott rooms — perhaps a little on the small side. My AC could never quite get cool enough in the September heat.

My first time here and a great experience. My wife and I decided to treat ourselves so we got a couples Swedish massage with aroma therapy.
The property was very nice, the parking was ample as it was a very slow day (their words not mine).
We walked in and were greeted immediately. We were checked in immediately by such a nice woman. She was so friendly and attentive. We filled out our waiver cards and were escorted into the individual locker rooms. The men’s locker room was clean and smelled great. The massage therapists were just fantastic. The entire experience was professional, relaxing and everyone was so courteous.
We left there on a cloud and we’ll certainly come back again.

I’m a platinum elite lifetime marriott member. Very disappointing! Used to be a premium place 5 – 8 years ago to take the family.
There in March with my daughter and the hot tub broken. Back again in July… still broken.
Interior upgrades to villas took away the full kitchen and instead offer a mini fridge and microwave, both inset into floor level cabinets that require a human of normal height to stoop down on their knees to access (brilliant). Exterior is seriously dilapidated.
The most disturbing thing I’ve noticed in my last 3 trips to Sawgrass is that over the weekends, the villas have become a party spot for locals. Security at this hotel is useless so take your earplugs if you plan to sleep.

Nice hotel with heated pools and jacuzzi. Nice atmosphere. The staff are great at the restaurant where we ate breakfast. The bellhops are great. The technicians are great. The faults I found here are the double beds, too small for adults. Should be full or queen beds in double rooms, and the bar tenders. They need to work on their customer service skills. Other than that I recommend this hotel.

Just finished a fantastic 5 night stay.
Katie and Ryan at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay.
Dinner at Vernon’s was amazing (best tuna and sea bass I have had in years).
The lobby bar was a destination every night for drinks and entertainment.
The pools were great and the ground are immaculately kept.
I even saw someone land a golf ball on the floating green from the balcony off my room.
Great stay and we cannot wait to come back.

The resort seems to be a little outdated, but the amenities and service here, are both on point. I would re-​visit, and I might even golf as long as it doesn’t require wearing plaid pants…

We stayed at the Villa with a two bedroom. I liked it. It was very spacious and clean. Housing keeping was good, they knew when we were out so that they can clean. Our room was on the first floor. 1405 facing the water and had beautiful trees in front. One of the amusing thing is ducks coming to your patio. The kids had lots of fun with that. We ate at the hotel one night and was relaxing and food was surprising good not too expensive. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Mind you, I was here for a short business meeting. So I came in late afternoon the day before, stayed the night, meet, and then left early afternoon the next day. I didn’t play golf, so I can’t speak to the course itself, and I didn’t avail myself of the pool or the spa.
Over all, a surprisingly good value for the money. I was expecting to be gouged on the room when the client suggested it as a meeting place, but it was cost-​effective.
In addition, I found the service to be excellent. Great attitudes from an obviously well-​coached staff. My only two meals were a hamburger at the pub downstairs and the breakfast buffet the next morning. A good experience at both.
My room was well appointed and comfortable as well. It was a cold night, so I called down to the front desk for a blanket and housekeeping was at my room in less than five minutes. So five stars for the facility and the staff.
My only quibble has to do with the meeting rooms. Over the course of two different phone calls, I had to be transferred literally 7 times to simply get a quote on a meeting room and a reservation. I got the impression that there was some trainee staff who did not know how to answer what were rather straightforward questions. That being said, when I asked for a long extension cord about an hour before my meeting, they were there within five minutes. So my guess is that there’s a bit of a disconnect between the hotel staff and those in charge of the meeting rooms.
The other thing was the room itself. It was fine, but I think it is in need of an upgrade. Currently, the furniture, lighting, and carpet has a late 80s feel to it. Also, the room itself had not been vacuumed as evidenced by some debris and bits of paper on the carpet.

Stayed here for two days for a work related event.
My room was on the 7^th floor of the main hotel building. Room was clean and comfortable. I had a bit of trouble getting the temperature to the range I wanted for sleeping the first night. I ended up opening the sliding glass door in the middle of the night to get some fresh cold air in the room…
The next night there was not a problem — not sure what was going on…
Not enough HD channels for my taste. Free internet was provided. Seemed to be fast enough to get my work done.
There are a number of restaurants and bars in the hotel, and a large full service Starbucks which is open most of the day. The lobby bar and lounge area is a great place to get out of your room, hang out and get some work done. Lots of places to sit and plug chargers in.
There is also a Gift shop, Alice & Pete’s Pub (great food and Ales), Vernon’s Restaurant (serves breakfast and dinner), a wine bar, a bar in the lounge/​lobby area, a UPS Store, and a Golf Shop.
There are nice walkways outside to get in a good walk. Staff was friendly, attentive, and awesome!

Gorgeous hotel, excellent service, very clean and updated rooms, lovely bathroom products, and great food and drink choices throughout.

The hotel looks great when pulling up. It’s looks like a post card. The checkin staff was great and I used mobile checkin so it went quick.
The room is okay with a nice view of the pond behind the hotel. I enjoyed watching folks hit golf balls into the pond trying to land on a little island.
The hotel has a few bars and a Starbucks. The Starbucks must close early as it wasn’t open when I happened by at 5pm.
I must say I’m really disappointed with this Marriott’s fitness center. The free weights are missing some dumbbells, the floors are dirty, no cups, bath towels for wipe downs, smells dank and 2 weight machines with several treadmills. It feels like working out in someone’s dingy basement.
My 3 stars is due to the gym, which is important to my stay.
The food at this place is great… I eat several times there and was blown away with the super taste.
I did make it in to the Starbucks and the two folks working there looked really unhappy (both times I went). Not sure if that was just them or what.

Nice staff and good overall, but rooms and much of the interior are dated
Checking was quick and easy with a nice staff. The bellhops were fun, as well.
The atrium shows its age and takes you back to the 80s. This despite remodels of the entry and lobby– feels like the 2010s when you leave your car with the valet, 1990s in the lobby and conference areas, 2000s down in the lobby bar/​pub/​Vernons, and updated 1980s in the rooms. Even had some color stains on the floor to contrast with the popcorn ceilings!
Conference area wifi was very problematic for some of my peers, though I was fine all but one. Food served was good. And grounds were par.
Thought that since this is Sawgrass, I would be blown away by the quality and nice touches. Those were incorrect assumptions on my part. At least playing the course was a blast… even if five of the holes had temporary greens.
Wouldn’t go out of my way to stay there, again.

We thought we were staying in the main part of the hotel, but upon arrival we were told we would actually be in the villas (which are more like year-​round condos). No problem! we thought. However we were in a small room (2 beds and a bathroom) that shared a porch with another couple — awkward! Also, the A/​C was broken and we didn’t realize it until the baby had already fallen asleep, so it was impossible to call the desk about it because we couldn’t have a repair person working on it while we were sleeping. Maybe they would have moved rooms — I don’t know.
The spa was nice — but nothing fantastic; it was reminiscent of a nicer gym than a spa. I had a deep tissue massage with Pat and he did a good job. Professional and courteous. The signature scent they use in the spa smells great (IMO) and I even bought a shower gel to take home (although really $ 19.99 seems kinda steep considering the quality of the spa)!
The golf is great, but you’ll pay a pretty penny for it. Hubs has golfed the course before (not during this stay) and really enjoyed the course.
If I got the same deal again and had the opportunity to stay in the actual hotel of the property, I’d probably give it one more chance. Otherwise, I’d go elsewhere.

This is another hotel where I wasn’t expecting much due to the reviews and the price. However, the BF is all about golf. And for the golf lover in your life, this is the place to stay.
The location is beautiful. The nearby TPC Sawgrass Golf Course is where the Players Championship is played, as part of the PGA Tour. Valet service is very friendly here. As was check in. Rachel, the person helping us mentioned that I only needed 3 more stays to achieve Gold Status with Marriott to which I laughed and said, we already have it. «Staying with you is night number 4». She was quick to give us an upgraded room, which was very nice of her. She also gave us area information.
Our basic room turned into a waterfall view. The surrounding grounds are gracious. The pools were clean and the Jacuzzis where nestled away in a semiprivate location. We weren’t able to try Vernon’s Restaurant, but it is beautiful and highly recommended. We did spend time in the hotel bar and also the patio complete with cozy fire pits. Loved that. Both areas are beautiful. They also have a nice golf shop in the hotel.
Another nice feature at this hotel was the bath products. They have a new line that is Asian-​inspired and comes from Thailand. These products are really nice, high quality, the brand name is Thann. This hotel is nice. We would love to stay here, again.
