Pompano Dive Center

Did a dive trip today with Odyssey Charters and Pompano Dive Center. Great Service and terrific staff. I will dive with them often.

I’ve dived with Pompano Dive Center on two separate trips (and currently booking my third), and each time, they provided excellent service. Check in is efficient, nitrox and trimix fills are at the requested percentage and are actually filled to capacity (or a little beyond), the analyzers are easy and quick to use, and the crew on the boats works their butts off to make your trip as easy and carefree as possible.
PDC promptly answers questions asked of them via the form on their site, which is not the case with many operations I’ve dived with. They also provide group discounts and allow you to pick the sites if you are the first to book.
Most impressive is the work the crew and staff does to load and unload the boat. Without hesitation, the staff loads up stacks of doubles and single cylinders and will gladly haul them to and from the boat for you. I even witnessed the captain somehow carrying 4 sets of doubles by himself. Amazing!
The shop and crew are extremely accommodating to your dive plan, and because of this, it is an outstanding operation to bring students to. On our last trip, we had a student miss the tag line upon jumping in and when he started to drift away, one of the DMs immediately swam after him. She waited with him while the boat repositioned and picked him up. This is just one example of the attentive and fast acting crew.
For me, PDC is the only operation I’ll consider when I dive Pompano Beach.

Been here twice so far and did a total of 5 dives with them. I recently got my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox Certification with my friend Savanna M. The boats are nice and the crew is very helpful. It is easy to get on and off the boat, and there is plenty of room for dive gear and to move around.
I need to pick up some replacement dive gear, so I will be back to get some in their shop.

I found PDC through Unilocal reviews and connected with another user who gave me great reviews of their operation.
I called ahead of time with many questions ranging from availability of rental equipment to dive locations. They were always very courteous and seems genuinely happy to answer my questions. Especially poor CJ.
I got to dive 3 days on 3 – 2 tank dives. The service here was OUTSTANDING.
I am a relatively new diver (AOW though) and this was my first trip not on a resort.
If I go back to Fort Lauderdale area to dive, this is the place I am calling! Impress me with honest and friendly customer service and I will be a repeat loyal customer. I will even spend more for that service, Their dive rates seem very fair, as well as equipment rental costs. It is a small shop with a 2 boat charter operation so I expect some items for sale will not be internet cheap, so when I ran into trouble with the Mask I brought with me on my first dive, I purchased a new ScubaPro mask they recommended on the spot. Yes, cost me a few bucks more maybe, but the personal service and recommendations was very helpful. It is also very helpful that their shop is literally right next to the dock. They set up the gear I rented and even switched my tanks over for the second dive. I use my own mouthpiece, so they allowed me to use the same regulator all 3 days. Great service. I would recommend them for all your diving needs.
The rest of the review is just a narrative of the dives and some shoutouts to the people that made my experience GREAT!
On my first day out, apparently 2 divers canceled last minute as I was standing there. That left the trip, to a shallow wreck (SS Copenhagen) and shallow reef to just me as the only diver and 3 snorkelers. I was concerned that the day would be cancelled without the requisite 4 divers to run the trip, but nope, off we went! It was a great dive with Jimmy and Will as my private guides. I got explore the wreck and even see them catch a couple of Lobsters for dinner…
Day 2 was just as fantastic. The other divers on board were using rebreathers, so once again, it was just me diving Air (yes, they have NITROX and wish I had that Cert). So I got my own private guide to the wrecks of the Captain Dan and Ancient Mariner. Thanks to 2 more great divemasters, Matt and Lindsay.
Day 3 was my last day. We dove the Tracey and a Reef.
My mask problems returned. The $ 85 Scuba Pro mask I bought was leaking like a sieve. The DM from the dive was Missy. She was very helpful in trying to solve my mask problems. Helping me fit it and explaining it as no one had taken the time to before. She gave me one of the rental masks for my 2^nd dive on the reef (with McKenzie, also GREAT), and wouldn’t you know it, dry as a bone. When we got back to the show Missy, Brett and Eric were all very helpful in swapping out the mask that I bought for one that fit better. But since it was the last dive of the trip, I won’t know how it works until I dive again in a few months. But the point of the story is how much everyone helped me with the problem and really wanted to help me fix it.
Everyone here was very helpful and truly love what they do. You can not go wrong with Pompano Dive Center.

I was certified here and absolutely loved my experience. I was hesitant to get in the water, but knew I was in good hands. I had a blast spending spending the week with them! Missy helped me get comfortable in the water, and yearn to go out again! The wrecks were awesome! I cannot wait to dive with them again!

Can you believe it’s been 16 years since I got Open Water Certified (technically Jr. Open Water Certified, I’m not that old lol)? Geez! Well, clearly it was time to finally get Advanced Open Water Certified and I contacted Pompano Dive Center after getting a recommendation from a coworker.
After some emails back and forth I was able to set up the perfect schedule for me (and another corworker) and we booked our certification over a weekend, about a month from the initial emails. Tony (our instructor) also went ahead and pushed us to do the Nitrox certification as well, which we initially had some concerns with, but in the end, definitely turned out to be the right choice.
Like I mentioned the course lasted two days, with some actual classroom work focused on the Nitrox certification to start (along with a few other students), and most of the Advanced Cert stuff took place on the boat. We did three dives the first day, and two on the second, which was definitely the best way to break it up and not cram all five into one day. Tony’s enthusiasm for diving and teaching really shined through and I couldn’t have been happier with our «class». I definitely walked away feeling like my diving improved based on his instruction.
In terms of the boat, we went on both, neither of which were ever particularly packed and made for a great learning environment. All of the staff were eager to help and more than professional, making all of the dives «smooth sailing» despite the waves not being quite as cooperative.
If you know anything about the area, Pompano is known for their wrecks, and I was impressed by both that we dove on. I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to reefs, but even those were great as well, and I can’t complain when two lemon sharks show up to dive with us!
Can’t wait to dive with Pompano again!

Great shop. I’ve dove with these people many times now, and they really take their business seriously. They take you to some pretty awesome locations, and always take safety into account. Use these guys if you are ever in the Pompano area!

Have come here a few years as a snowbird. Have also taken training here (enhanced air). These guys and gals are the best. Very enjoyable knowing it’s SAFE and FUN with these professionals.

My husband and I live in Pompano and have used PDC in the past. We had some friends visiting from the North and were scheduled to dive with another center. Unfortunately we were the only 4 scheduled and they cancelled our dive. A quick stop at PDC; and while they had no one else scheduled for the afternoon; they had no issues with taking just the four of us. Captain and DMs were great!!! Thanks PDC for keeping our friends in the water!

Last weekend was the first dive I had done with PDC and Odyssey Charters. I’ve gone on many charters throughout South Florida and wanted to give them a shot. The staff was professional, timely and helpful. The boat was well-​run and roomy. They were cautious even shifting dives around due to current to ensure the most pleasant experience possible. Colin & Jackie, the divemasters for this trip, were attentive and volunteered eagerly to help in any way they could. In the years I’ve been diving I’ve never had a DM ask me if they can setup/​attend to my equipment between dives so I can just sit back and enjoy the ride. Colin did that for me and I’m still pleasantly astonished that it happened.
Because of this, I chose to go again on Friday and can say that I had an outstanding dive, perhaps the best I’ve had in the area, diving the Mercedes. In terms of the boat and staff, it was basically a repeat of the great and attentive service I would expect from any professionally run dive charter. Fernando & Missy were outstanding DMs and Colin, a great boat captain.
Both myself and my cousin (who’s a DM in Europe) enjoyed the trips and I can genuinely say that this is now my preferred charter boat, hands down.

They are friendly, professional, competant, experienced, and demonstrate care about every diver they take out.
They follow all safety protocols.
Today I went out with them on a scuba dive trip and there was a true emergency situation where they assisted a distressed free diver with a search and ultimately a recovery. The crew acted so fast and with such precision and reverence that I can not even begin to express how highly trained and skilled these people are. All of the staff Ive come in contact with have been great, but specal Kudos to Fernando, Morgan, and Captain Matt.

Today my husband, our friend Thomas and I whent diving on the Sea Siren. The ship was really very nice. We felt really secured and in good hands. The crew took great care of us. I really recommand this company. If we ever come back to Florida we for sure dive again with you!

I have been to a lot of dive shops in South Florida and I have to day this is by far the best. This is definitely the best dive shop I’ve ever been too anywhere!!! The staff is amazing. Full of knowledge and very helpful. They go out of their way to help you. Book a trip with them and you will be hooked. The staff once again is amazing and never stops working so that you have the best possible experience. Honestly I was overwhelmed by them. The boats are simply awesome and they know the ocean and dive spots better then anybody. If your looking for a dive shop, a place to use for a dive trip, stop looking this place is the best.

I have made several dives with them and each one was very high quality, very safe and clean and the divemasters are helpful and friendly.

Pretty upscale as far as dive shops go (read: doesn’t smell like unwashed neoprene). The staff are really helpful and friendly. The boat they use, the Sea Siren, has a great captain and divemasters. The boat itself has bean bag chairs and plenty of room. The shop has a loyalty card program that let’s you cash in points for nitrox fills and even dive trips!
They have rental gear available, but as with any dive shop, I recommend your own wetsuit.

By far the best run shop in Florida. Management and staff will help you with anything to make sure you get what you need to enjoy your diving. Staff knowledge of equipment carried in shop is amazing. They also have under same management Odyssey Charters, by far sets the standards on how a charter should be run. The best experience I have had in state of Florida with a charter. I take all my veterans diving here and friends. Ask for Cpt. Matt Heath for Charter and for shop ask for Tony or Brian.

This is by far the finest dive operation for technical diving on the East Coast of florida. I have been on many of the boats here on the East coast of Florida, and they all pale in comparison. What an amazing staff of divemasters.
Ample public parking is available. The staff came out to my vehicle to assist with loading all of my heavy gear, Wow! If you have ever lifted a filled set of 120 cuft doubles, you know what I am talking about.
The Captain and dive masters were interested in my experience level and comfort zone, making me confidant safety was paramount.
Coolers full of drinks and snacks were way beyond normal offerings of other operations.
Lastly, my custom trimix fill was exactly as requested, and done on time.
I can’t wait to come back to dive with you again!

Went out with this operation for the first time yesterday. Really a great experience! The crew was super friendly and very accommodating. Can’t say enough about their helpfulness and great attitudes. On the return trip, the crew collected up the rental gear and tanks on the boat… All we had to do was step off at the end of the trip (and of course, tip for the great service). Captain Matt and crew really made this a fun day. We’ll be back!
Great crew, outstanding service, quality rental gear! One note — the shop (like most) gets really busy just before departure. Try to stop by and pick up your paperwork before you go so that you can just drop it off and show your C card on trip day.

This last weekend I rented tanks and jumped on two boat dives. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. This was actually the second time renting from them. Both times have been great. The location is convenient and service was quick. I will return.
