We have been looking for a good place to eat breakfast and we have found it. Nelsons has excellent staff the waitress were very attentive came over for our drink order immediately, our breakfast was very good and prices very reasonable. Loved the fact that The owner Nelson came around to say good morning to each of the tables making sure we had everything we needed, would definitely go back…

Great little spot. Nice staff and who doesn’t like Elvis? This is a solid small diner with good food and good prices. This is not the best I have ever had but it is good and a nice choice supporting local small business. They have a good biscuits and gravy.

My husband and I ate at this diner twice while we were visiting the area. My husband had the eggs Benedict on the first visit and pancakes on the second. He loved both dishes. The diner is very clean and filled with friendly locals. I would suggest reviewing the menu prior to arriving, because it is a small/busy spot and they want to turn the tables over.

I’m going to keep this one short and sweet, especially since I didn’t try much of the food(this was my first attempt at real food after food poisoning) but long story short, I’m INLOVE with this place! A few coworkers and I were thinking of a spot to grab a Christmas lunch together, and since they were well aware of my need to eat«plain» food they suggested a diner. When we first arrived I was taken by surprise just how busy it was! They managed to squeeze us into one of the last tables and we got down to looking over the menu. I had planned on getting something plain from the breakfast menu(aka grits) but was saddened to see that breakfast was only served til 11am on weekdays, so I started inquiring about soups etc. Just before we had all settled in on a lunch menu item, Nelson himself stopped by to check on us. He mentioned that he was happy to cook us breakfast despite being outside the time limits, but just to allow him a few minutes more. So of course we then all changed our orders lol and went with breakfast items. I opted for the«breakfast basics» — 2 eggs any style, choice of grits, hash-browns etc and toast. For less than $ 4 this was a steal, and perfect for someone with my current food needs. Heck, I even left a $ 6 tip because it’s Christmas after all. Of course, I didn’t really get to try anything special, but what I did get hit the spot, and I can’t wait to come back here. Between the servers, and Nelson himself, this place really did feel like home. And if you’re an Elvis fan you’ll love the décor!

Great little hideaway diner. Old style, dozen tables, fresh food, good prices, lunch specials, etc. If you are nearby it is worth a visit. Local lunch crowd. Don’t know about breakfast but would bet is is popular too. Homemade pies but I don’t eat pies.

This has been a favorite of ours for a few years now. The food is always delicious, super consistent, and the staff is so friendly. It helps that I love Elvis, but even if I didn’t I would still go there religiously.

First time we tried to come to Nelsons it was closed so we made sure to come by the next time we had the chance. 50’s style diner with sports banners all over the ceiling. Pictures of Elvis everywhere made me feel like I went back in time. I was torn between three different things… I’ll have to come back to try the others. First, the Carolina Cuban Sandwich. Smoked ham and pork, pickles with a special mustard sauce, served on a panera. Second was the philly cheese steak(with American). Third was the country fried steak, topped with sausage gravy(which I love), 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. The girlfriend kept it simple with eggs, sausage, grits and toast. The waitress eventually convinced me to go with the philly, came with two sides so I went with fries and onion rings. As usual I also ordered a «large» side of ranch. :) The girls food looked great. Perfect sunny side up eggs, sausage links, grits that had a nice consistency(no chunks) which is always a win. As for the philly, it was pretty good. Not the best I’ve had but I’d gladly eat another right now. Ok, maybe not right now, I just ate dinner. The fries and onion rings were delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They didn’t forget my ranch, it was in a small bowl with a spoon. Hehehe! I love when that happens. Overall great taste, service, price and volume of food. My kind of place. We’ll be back, I got my eyes on the country fried steak.

Although the place is packed, the staff gets you seated quickly. The biggest complaint about my experience is that they rush you. Keep in mind that it was my first time there. three different waitresses came by and asked if we were ready to order within five minutes. Now onto the good stuff: The biscuits and gravy were the bomb. I also had the make-your-own omelette with spinach, feta, and mushrooms — was good! If you’re an Elvis fan, this place is covered with Elvis stuff, and the menu has foods named after him. Including his famous peanut butter and banana sandwich.

«Love me tender» «Love me sweet» «Now its time to eat(meat)» Nelson’s Diner is exactly as advertised(or more accurately, not advertised). It is a small diner in a easy to miss shopping plaza. There are too many tables packed with locals, a friendly staff, walls lined with Elvis memorabilia and a ceiling of sports pennants. This is casual dining at its most casual with daily specials consumed by regulars. Always busy, this place doesn’t need Unilocal but Unilocal found them anyways but hasn’t changed them. Nelson’s works in its own way, serving untrendy comfort food. They are even closed Sundays leaving a lot of potential meals unserved. When in the land of Elvis you must order the Graceland. It is an enormous plate of Tennessee Country Ham with eggs, hash browns and a biscuit. It was truly home cooking and the star of the show, the ham, was salty and smokey and delicious. The eggs and hash browns were fresh but not impressive. The coffee was also was not exciting but it was refilled efficiently by our waitress. Pricing is fair for the large portions and it is a great place to go if you are in the neighborhood.

I hear all the time from friends that breakfast is just breakfast & how can you mess up cooking breakfast. All so wrong. Personally I can tell you all the best breakfast spots in the area because I have been to most all of them and Nelson’s Diner comes up on the top of my list. Its tucked away in a small strip plaza on S Cypress Rd. If your not paying attention you might just drive right by it. When I sat down and looked up I saw this banner and it put a big smile on my face for obvious reasons. The place is tiny and decorated with Elvis music memorabilia throughout. A great local neighborhood spot. Very Clean with great service. I ordered the Country Fried Steak– Topped with Sausage Gravy, 2 eggs any style, Choice of Hash browns grits or oatmeal with toast or biscuit. Too Good. I rarely ever order Country fried steak because most places don’t know how to cook it so well. Nelsons does it the best. Real meat, battered and fried just right! Melts in your mouth but with a slight crunch. The gravy was fresh and tasted so good. A real winner and a must try spot for breakfast.

This was my first time here and it was amazing! The place has a nice elvis theme to it. We got seated right away, the staff was very attentive and quick. The food was great as well as the dessert. I will definitely be coming back here when I am in Florida again.

OMG. Everything I need in a breakfast spot. conviently located near my BFF’s house in Pompton. When I go on vacation to visit my FLL friends, I love this place. 1) friendlyt waitresses 2) water and coffee refills constantly 3) every breakfast option offered 4) Sausage and gravy biscuits… DAMN 5) so resonably priced 6) my son tried Bacon for the 1st time here. this is big 7) the way they put the butter cup on top of the pancakes so it melts a lil bit before you spread it 8) Red eyed gravy off the menu offered when you order just a biscuit 9) all of the above Heaven for breakfast.

I work right by Nelson’s and eat here at least once a week, if it’s eating at the restaurant or getting delivered. Nelsons is always quick cheap and super yummy! I usually always get there tuna or chicken salad. But I love love the French fries. Today I had a tuna melt and fries with a small Caesar. As usual it was delicious! Nelsons is a must try good diner!

This place is unassuming. You may not expect much. You may start to question the Unilocal reviews, why is this place next to a bar and a laundromat the best place ever? What could be so great about this little diner in a strip mall? See, that’s the thing. Diners shouldn’t be fancy. They should be in little strip malls. This one is just perfect. The location is fairly small, tucked on the end of the strip mall, and was busy on a Sunday in the AM. There is tons of Elvis décor everywhere — even menu items named and focused around the King himself. It’s really like you step out of Florida for a minute. The staff is great and they have regulars. It’s really stepping into a family business — they know a lot of the people in there, and they are just amazingly nice. I haven’t felt that way anywhere in south Florida — I mean, I’ve had good service but this is even different. It was apparent the staff had relationships with regulars and cared about their clients. The food was astonishing. Incredibly well priced and you get your money’s worth. I ordered the Graceland — country ham, eggs, and hash browns. I love country ham and haven’t had it in years — it’s truly a Tennessee thing that only branches out a bit — there were a few good places in Cincinnati, but I haven’t found anywhere with it in awhile. This stuff is actually flown in from Tennessee and is AMAZING. So smoky, truly a great salt-cured country ham. And it was a whole slice — I couldn’t even finish it. The hashbrowns were thin and crispy, and the eggs were well cooked. Country ham was the star though. The other great thing — a 3 dollar breakfast sandwich called the King with peanut butter and bananas. Yum! It was toasted too, and they cut up the bananas into small pieces so it went on the bread better. You must get it! I can’t recommend this place enough.

So, we don’t even live in Fort Lauderdale and so we didn’t know about Nelson’s before we came down… I work in Pompano and my fiancé and I wanted to have breakfast together before work. I had used Unilocal to find a good spot… we stumbled on to Nelson by chance after leaving Cypress nook because it was way too packed… When we arrived Nelson’s it was also packed, but we put our name on the list as it was our last hope for Sunday morning breakfast. The nice girl at the front was able to get us in pretty quick, Terry was our server, who was on the ball! The atmosphere is 50 retro, small and adorable! From the time we sat down at the table, to the time we left it was a total of 20 minutes… Talk about fast service! I ordered two eggs and substituted a waffle I stead of pancakes, and my fiancé got the chicken salad sandwich… The eggs and waffles were delicious! And my fiancé’s sandwich was awesome he said! Nelson of Nelson’s, delivered the food to our table himself which was a nice touch! He had a huge smile on his face and you can tell he loves what he does! Several women who were not our servers came by the table to say hi and I really liked that. Its place is a great combination of awesome food, friendly service and extremely fast to boot!!! You don’t normally find that in morning breakfast places,… We will be back! it is well worth the drive from Delray!

I read several Five Star reviews on Nelsons Diner, in particular that of Unilocalette Ilona P. who noted Nelsons as being«diner perfect,» so I had to find out for myself. To my delight I too found it to be about as diner perfect as a diner can be. Nelson’s is a rather smallish near«hole in the wall» of a place located at the north end of the aging Garden Isles Shopping Center next to the divey looking Play by Play Sports Bar, a real rat hole of place if I ever saw one. Though a neighborhood diner where everybody seems to know everybody else, I was given as warm and as diner witty of a greeting as anyone else. Indeed, I found the diner staff to be about as pleasant and efficient of any diner staff I’ve experienced. When you enter the immediate eye impact is that everything, the entire décor of the place is late 50’s Elvis Presley with the walls, the ceilings and everything else timely festooned with 45 rpm records, pictures, pennants, and other such memorabilia; even the menu cover being of a pink Cadillac. As such it is very nicely appointed, a decorative job well done plus spotlessly clean. The breakfast and lunch menu offerings are wide ranging not only with what one might term typical diner foods but given names such as Memphis Platter, Vegas Strip eggs, Graceland ham, Hunka Burnin Love burger, and Hound Dog, but with some things more of local orientation such as Cubans and pulled pork. Besides their menu selection there are also daily special and board offerings. I ordered the Cuban which when served was huge in size, not the classical or traditional Cuban, but one loaded with huge amounts of Carolina pulled pork, all nicely covered with a melted cheese and a special of the house tasty, tangy mustard. Though I’m a rather big eater I couldn’t finish the entire sandwich which I also noted was the case with some of the other customers who were likewise leaving with some of their boxed leftover take homes. As a tip, the Nelson’s is small, popular, and during the prime lunch hour gets packed up quickly hence if you hit it during that hour you may end up having to wait for available seating. Rating it not as a restaurant, but as a diner, I found it to be about as good as any of our area diners get, hence Five Stars.
