This review is for the Denny’s next to the suites on Cal Poly Pomona’s campus. This Denny’s has many different aliases such as Denny’s, Denny’s All Nighter, The Den and etc. This Denny’s is not 24 hours!!! Parking isn’t free unless you have a student or faculty permit. The menu is generally limited to just Burgers, Sandwiches, Deep Fried Sides, Shakes, Soft Drinks, Breakfast Items and Salads compared to a traditional Denny’s. This Denny’s is swarmed by CPP students all the time and ordering and receiving food can definitely take a while depending on the time of visit. I recommend avoiding rush hours which is from 11:30 — 1:30PM, 5:00PM-7:30PM. In addition, this Denny’s is operated by CPP students. This will cause a lot of disappointment to your expectations regarding the service and quality of the food. So please don’t be surprised. Overall, I expect this establishment to be utilized by mainly students, and I would recommend the Denny’s down the street if you are looking for a sit down + waiter atmosphere. If you are a student that is in the traditional dorms, then you can use a cash-out to choose a combo from a limited list of choices. During finals week they will have 2 $ grand slams from 9:00AM –11:00AM usually. I recommend the Chicken Guacamole Burrito, or Chicken Tenders + Fries! Expect to spend… 7 $-10 $

They got my order wrong multiple times. Pancakes are burnt, chicken strips are getting smaller and smaller, cashiers have bad attitudes when you point out they got the order wrong…(One time, the cashier threw the salsa into my plate as if she was irritated) too many too complain. The service is just bad.

I accidentally put my review for this location on the other one on Temple so I decided I’d just put the review here. So at this location the service was nice and parking wasn’t hard to find. I ordered a french toast meal and it was good, but definitely not the best I’ve had so I was a bit disappointed. Also it was confusing on how to pay the check. My friend and I waited for someone to pick it up and then decided to just go to the front to pay. Its not a problem to go up we just didn’t know which method they want so it would have been nice if the someone would have let us know.

This on campus Denny’s is conveniently located right next to the suites, and is the only food place that actually stays open on weekends. Instead of being waited on, you order at the cash register and seat yourself. Other than the burger patties, which often comes out in broken meat fragments, the food is pretty consistent. My big peeve with this place is that sometimes the line to order takes forever because the cashier has to go help the kitchen, leaving no one to attend to the growing line of people waiting to order. Secondly, no one seems to bother cleaning the tables as there’s always crumbs and trash. I only come here when I don’t feel like cooking and everything else is closed.

Horrible service. I think this is probably the only 1 star rating I’ve ever given and I definitely don’t regret it. First of all, there was about 7 employees and they were really really really slow. 30mins wait for a cup of coffee? Are you kidding?! The cashier was really quiet and I had no idea what she was saying throughout the couple seconds she was talking. The worst part is, the cooks give priority to their friends. So while you’ve been waiting for about 30mins, the person behind you(just because he knew the cook) got his food within 10mins. There was no management or no one to talk to because everyone was in their own little world. W.e. First and last time we ever bother with this Dennys. You’ll get better service at the market next door.

No longer a sit down and dine so no waiters. You order at the front and get a buzzer. The veggie burgers here are from Amy’s and not that great. The buns aren’t toasted and the toppings are all cold. Also, the cheese isn’t even melted. The fries are not crispy and taste very starchy. The veggie breakfast burrito is alright. But sometimes the cheese tastes a bit funky. But then the potato hashbrowns are really oily. If they weren’t so oily it’d taste decent. The egg and cheese sandwich is okay but the English muffin isn’t toasted and gets soggy. Mozzarella sticks taste straight up frozen from Costco. Also the lines will be either very long or it’ll be completely empty. Usually long 6 – 7, 8 – 9, 11 – 12

REVIEWABOUTTHEIR ‘AWFULANDLAZY’ COOK, A ‘CAN’T WAITTOGOHOME’ WAITRESS&THEIR ‘RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, NEEDS A LESSONINCUSTOMERSERVICE’ MANAGER(JOSESANCHEZ). Ordered our food & my mom wanted her burger a certain way: medium with no onions. Waitress repeated orders back to us so I know she got them right. We all got our food and everyone’s order was correct, except my mother’s. She took the top bun off so she could check that her meat patty was cooked the way she ordered & not only was it STILLPINK/ALMOST RAWONTHEINSIDE, but there were also onions on her burger. She called the waitress over, asked her if the cook can MAKE A NEWBURGER for her since the onion smell & flavor has already soaked into her patty & that the patty itself was not fully cooked. She also stated that she DIDNOT want the cook to simply remove the onions & give it back since that wouldn’t get rid of the onion flavor. Waitress apologized & said that wouldn’t be a problem at all. Well, I had a very good view of the cook & I noticed that when the waitress told him our problem, he reached for the plate & simply put it on his side of the counter, removed the onions & then handed it back to the waitress. Waitress then had the nerve to bring the burger back; knowing darn well that the cook just did exactly what my mother requested he not do. Told my mother what happened & the second the waitress brought the food, my mother told her that she wanted a new one since the strong onion flavor was still all over the burger & that the burger was still NOTCOOKEDTHOROUGHLY. Waitress said that it was a new burger & my mom asked her how in the world it came back so fast if it really was a new burger. Waitress said that the cook constantly has meat patties cooking so that he can get orders out quickly. HA! It’s 1 in the morning!!! Why in the world would the cook have meat patties cooking constantly??? But after the waitress lost the stare-down with my mom, she went back to the cook & asked for a new burger. Waitress set the plate down on HER side of the counter so that we could see that the cook would indeed make a new burger. Our waitress walked away to help other customers & when a 2nd waitress walked to the cook, her & the cook talked for a moment & the 2nd waitress proceeded to hand my mom’s OLDFOOD/plate to the cook. I COULDNOT believe what I just saw! Minutes later, my mom’s food was ready, again. But this time, when she removed the bun to check her patty, it was flat & all crumbled together. It looked nothing at all like the 1st patty she received. This patty was flat(looked smashed) & falling apart. Looked as if ground beef was just balled together & then slapped on the grill. It seriously looked disgusting. I wouldn’t even feed it to my dogs. Mom called the waitress over AGAIN& told her that the patty was literally falling apart. The waitress said, ‘oh my’ & asked if she wanted the manager. Manager asked what the problem was & my mother simply told him that her burger order came out wrong TWICE& now it came out disgusting. Manager(JOSESANCHEZ) told my mom that that’s what all their patties look like since they take 3 or 4 slider patties & smoosh them together to make a normal size patty. WTF!!! My mother said that her 1st patty was thick and perfectly round. This 2nd patty was a complete opposite. Manager asked if she wanted another burger & my mom looked at him like he was nuts & said no since the cook can’t seem to get/do an order properly.(Why on Earth would she want ANOTHER burger when the cook has already messed up 3 times?) When our checks came, my mom went to pay her bill & spoke to the manager about what he did & all he said was, ‘well I offered to make you another burger & you didn’t want it. What else am I supposed to do?’. 1st of all, he should not be speaking like that to a customer &2nd of all, this is a woman who is older than him(JOSESANCHEZ). He should respect his elders. Then I went up to the manager, paid for my bill & asked him why he wouldn’t at least offer/give a discount(5% or something) OR even just give my mom a dessert for all the problems she went through. Manager(JOSESANCHEZ) said that he offered her another burger & she said no. He(JOSESANCHEZ) even asked me, ‘Why would I give a discount on the rest of the food(just a banana split &1 kid’s meal) since that food got eaten without any problems?’ I informed him that it was just good customer service. And he didn’t even have the respect to look at me when I talked to him. He was too busy asking & swiping my debit card. I told him he was very rude & that I would review him & the restaurant & that I would call the corporate office. He just shrugged his shoulders & said ok. Will never eat there again & hope this manager learns good customer service or gets demote, suspended, fired or something.

This place is always a last resort for me when everywhere else is closed. My sister and I decided to come here and I have no idea why. Our experience started off well, we were seated immediately. This is when things got weird, not thirty seconds later, our waiter came to ask us what we wanted.(Keep in mind that I literally just opened my menu) We politely said that we were not ready and he left us alone for not even another thirty seconds to get our order, we were so annoyed that that we picked the first thing that we wanted. Then we waited. .. .and waited .. .and .. .. waited. For a guy that was in such a hurry to take our order it took forever for our food to get to us. When it finally did arrive it was less than mediocre. Not to mention that he forgot the sauces for our«one hundred day old» stale chips. I didn’t like the the chicken that I ordered, I was slathered in sauce. As we were trying to finish the rest of our food, our waiter was rushing around the restaurant, as he was doing so he dropped a container of strawberry jelly. In my head I was screaming«Oh no!» as the the bucket fell to the ground. The jelly splatted onto my sister’s face, clothes, and food. I had to tell the guy to apologize and bring napkins. After that we left, there is no reason for me to go back there.

On this note: I didn’t opt to choose to eat here, my friends wanted to come and I just so happened to be hungry and needed dinner before work. :P FOOD: Not great, the portions are smaller than actual Denny’s outside of school(so technically this is like an ‘express’ Denny’s) but they still charge the same price for it. :(So you get less for a more expensive price. Also, the food was not that great looking, although I hear the burgers are pretty delicious and they look really big, but they aren’t accompanied with fries like they’re supposed to on a normal basis. I had myself two orders of their potato rounds($ 1.49/order), they are not to be mistakened for tator tot-like things, but more of a hash brown-like substance. They were too deep fried with a increasing amount of oil that makes you want to keel over after you eat one. God knows I did… LOL. Since it was too deep fried, there wasn’t enough potatoes in them. I would not recommend them. P.S: $ 1.99 Grand Slams all week during Finals week! AMBIANCE: a few booths on the sides, and the rest are open regular tables. It’s pretty spacious if you don’t come on finals day. They also provide free WI-FI! :D Huzzah! Their kitchen is really, really tiny(they don’t have a dish sink) so they actually use Styrofoam plates. I didn’t like that, that’s just an excuse for excess waste that’s harder to decompose than plastic. — 3– SERVICE: Great friendly guy at the cash register though! :) Would I come back here? Ummm. Only to hangout, most definitely not to eat.

To answer CPP’s lack of options at or above 8PM, Denny’s seemed like an ideal solution to a campus already over-saturated with chain fast food joints and fake-chinese take out. The low stars generally have to do with their decent-ish to good sandwiches which accompany good ‘service’. At least the people working there smile and don’t look sad and depressed. But their burgers suck and some of their options err more on the side of meh. Perhaps I would like to give them credit for spitting on McDonald’s nutrition facts and offering us nutritionally-assured-doom on a plate. Their drinks are decent, but it’d be unwise to praise it any further because Jamba/Robeks roundhouse kicks them to the curb. And to finish off my review, finished off by the guy who lives here: «Denny’s is essentially a laxative on a paper plate» –Michael Oh, CPP big tip: Give us a boba place with some real Asian food. I see an empty lot sitting a couple hundred feet away from us. Tea pwns Coffee And those horses next to us smell, can we replace them with Asian strip malls with delicious cheap sub $ 7 meals?(I’m only kidding… of course =D)

This Denny’s isn’t nearly as bad as the other guy posted, he must be a very picky eater. Its a little overpriced but its on a campus, what do you expect. i’m hear almost every day due to my meal plan and the food is usually pretty good. i just the grilled chicken panini, the cheesesteak, and the chicken strips. iv’e only had one bad experience which was me having to wait 40 minutes for my food due to a communication error on their part but to make up for it they gave me mozzarella sticks, about 10 chicken strips, and a giant cookie all for free along with my meal, definitely made up for it. This Denny’s its still new and the workers are still adjusting so yea, this place is great.

In the past few years, I’ve come to dislike Denny’s. And the Denny’s on the campus of Cal Poly Pomona is no exception. CPP missed a big opportunity by putting in a Denny’s instead of plenty of alternatives. Alternatives that would’ve been new, exciting, creative. But no, we got a Denny’s. Less than average food at average prices(not a good deal). Today was my first experience with our(CPP) Denny’s, located next to the Residential Suites on campus. As you first walk in, it’s less of a sit-down Denny’s than it is a smaller, fast-food version of Denny’s. There’s a large menu board behind the cashier and a variety of options, including breakfast(served all day), sandwiches, burgers, salads, and a few take away items like yogurt parfaits(underfilled and looked very sad) and baked goods. The menu is not the regular Denny’s menu. It’s much smaller. I’m not a vegetarian but I wanted to have something vegetarian today. Some may argue I went to the wrong place for vegetarian options and they would be right. Their breakfast options had a nice variety of veggie-friendly items. As for their burgers, you could substitute a veggie patty for any beef patty so that was nice. However, their sandwiches and salads were not veggie-friendly at all. They have one«veggie burrito» and no salads without meat. You read that correctly, no items on their salad menu are meatless. Two salads have chicken and one has turkey. Yes, you can take the meat off the salad and eat the rest but 1) you paid for the meat 2) what a waste 3) that’s not the point. The point is there are no options. How hard would a «green salad» or «house salad» be? I’m not asking Denny’s to be adventurous and serve a baby greens and arugula salad with balsamic vinaigrette on the side. I’m asking for a simple salad. So I ordered Amy’s Veggie Burger, which the menu describes as follows. «Made from fresh organic grains and vegetables with protein-rich soy. Topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and red onions.» I declined the offer to ‘Combo it,’ which is to add a drink and regular fries or sweet potato fries. One nice thing, tax is included in the price. After paying, there was a short wait, maybe five minutes. I can’t say how long it would take if it were busy because it wasn’t busy when I was there. After my number was called, I grabbed my burger and went back to my table and found it lacked cheese. So I returned to the counter and asked, «Could I have some cheese for my burger? You don’t have to remake it or anything. I just want a slice of cheese.» If the reader will refer to the description I copied directly from their menu, you’ll notice«cheese» is included. The person at the counter takes my plate back towards the kitchen and says that it’s missing cheese. The person cooking says, «It doesn’t come with cheese. You have to add it,» to which I responded, «The menu says it comes with cheese.» The cook, seemingly frustrated with the request, asked if I wanted American, swiss, cheddar, or pepperjack, I responded with, «American.» We both walk over to the cash register where the menus are displayed and I point out«cheese» under the description. I get no response, perhaps a glare, and the cook just returns to the station. I didn’t expect an apology nor did I get one. As for the burger, it sucked. Sorry. Even with the cheese, it was salty and otherwise bland. The tomato, onion, and pickle were passable(but how could you screw those up?). The veggie patty was salty and dry. And the worst part was the bun, which had not been warmed up at all, leaving it cold, stiff, and detracted from the entire burger. Toast the bun on the side while the burger is cooking, please. This was perhaps one of the worst veggie burgers I’ve ever had. Also, everything is served on sturdy paper plates. Please consider using washable, durable, and relatively inexpensive plastic plates. I did not appreciate having to throw away my plate for a sit-down meal. Given that it’s the only place to eat on campus after a certain time, especially on Fridays and the weekend, its proximity to the Suites, this place will get some business. But it’s the convenience that will lure people to Denny’s at CPP, not the food(or service for that matter). I will not be back. (I suggest to those living at the suites to invest in some good cookware and make your own meals in the kitchen that you’re paying rent for)
