A1 Pooper Scooper Services

I recently moved into a new home in Claremont and the previous owners had left a giant pile of dog poop under a bush in our yard. Given that we have a small baby, we thought it best that we hire a professional service to ensure that it was removed in a sanitary manner that would not cause a health hazard. After shopping around a bit, we settled on A1 Pooper Scooper Services. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a HUGE mistake.
An A1 employee named Jorge arrived a couple hours later than our scheduled appointment time, claiming that he couldn’t find the address and that he wasn’t able to get a hold of his boss for clarification. He insisted on payment in cash and at some point left without letting us know he had finished the job. Later that day, I went to throw some trash into our garbage can and found that he had shoveled all of the poop directly into our garbage can WITHOUT A BAG. Our garbage can (which we do not even own since it is rented to us by the city of Claremont) is now hopelessly contaminated and our entire yard smells of dog poop baking in the hot sun.
Since some of the dog poop was desiccated and could potentially puff particles into the air when disturbed, we can only hope that Jorge wheeled the can out to the yard to scoop the poop in and didn’t bring it onto the patio, since we also keep our barbecue grill there.
Instead of making our problem go away, as we hired them to do, A1 Pooper Scooper Services multiplied our problems tenfold. I left a message for the owner, Alan LaBossiere, and got no answer. We tried calling again repeatedly the next day and our calls were sent straight to voicemail. Not only are we out the fee charged by A1, but we had to call the city and ask them to do a special removal of the trash can and have it steam cleaned for an additional fee.
If you want your yard cleaned in a professional and sanitary manner, DO NOT use this service.
UPDATE:
Alan returned my call the day after I posted this review. He offered to have Jorge come back and put the poop in bags. I asked for a refund instead since we’d already arranged with the city sanitation service to have them remove the old trash can and its contents and replace it with a new can for a fee. Our money was returned the next day, so I am upgrading this review from 1 to 2 stars.
