Harris Tree Farm

This is a traditional tree farm and apple stand. They have just about every kind of apple variety, plus berries, and a delectable apple pie. Really worth a trip out. Don’t stop anywhere else first, just go here.

I fell in love with the many jams they make from the fruit from their farm, grown on-​site. I particularly enjoy the sweet/​spicy jams for a quick appetizer with cream cheese and crackers or making pulled pork in crock pot. Definitely worth making a stop here, they are very nice!

I love this place! The people are so friendly and welcoming, the prices are reasonable and the kids love to get cider and sit by the fire pit. This is our second year getting a tree and here and I’m pretty sure it’ll be a new family tradition. They provide you with a hand saw, wrap your tree for you and will help you load it if you need help.
In their little food area, the kids get excited for apple donuts and cider. It’s good stuff. They have other great looking food, but I haven’t tried it yet. I have brought home a dutch apple pie, which was delicious and some homemade jams. The kids love the homemade jams, especially the pluot. This year a bought a whole bunch of tjams to give my fam damily with some brie and crackers.

A wonderful family farm, that everyone in the family has enjoyed visiting for the past 20+ years. The entire Harris family is warm and accommodating, and make a great experience every time.

Never came for the trees, to be honest. Last year we were leaving Apple Hill and I realized I never bought a slice of pie– a MUST for an Apple Hill trip. We were already a tad east of Camino, so I looked on the Apple Hill Growers map to see if there were any more places with pies near me. I saw one last little apple on the map… a tree farm??? Fine, we resolved to stop by.
It’s about a mile up from the highway, all by itself. We pulled up and it wasn’t very busy. It was a tiny little bake shop, but they had fresh hot pie…
Holy moly, I have finally found THE BEST PIE IN APPLE HILL, after a 3 decade search (alright, maybe a slight exaggeration– I’ve only been intentionally searching for the best pie during my annual Apple Hill trip maybe the last 10 years). It was just a simple pie, but had good crust and great tasting apples. I couldn’t identify what was unique but it was excellent.
So today we made our way back on our annual pilgrimage. I bought myself a frozen pie to bring home and wanted to get a couple of hot slices to eat right then. This time they didn’t have any hot fresh slices of pie, so we got turnovers. They were also tasty, but the crust to filling ratio was on the crust-​heavy side. I have yet to try the frozen pie. I’m hoping it’s just as fantastic as the first time.
So the one star ding on my rating was for the paucity of hot, fresh pie selection and for the general area. The bake shop was a little cluttered, with a cat sleeping on one of the shelves in the store (probably some sort of violation, at least it wasn’t in the kitchen). We went to sit outside on a picnic table, and 4 of the resident dogs all lined up behind us. They were friendly, fairly calm dogs, but the slimy noses on my elbows turned me off a bit. That and 2 of my kids are a little scared of dogs (they did see a big dog kill my little dog a year and a half ago, it’s understandable). People there were friendly enough that if we asked, I’m sure they would have put the dogs away, but we were there briefly enough it was a fairly minor problem. The grounds are pretty, and nicely taken care of but definitely on the informal side. I’ll be back next year for more pie. Maybe I’ll try the jams or honey or other kinds of pies next time.

Our family started coming here together in the early 1990s when old dog Bo was still young on the farm. Our sons ran around for hours while we hunted for perfect tree year after year. We stopped cutting down beautiful trees out of guilt years ago but still made the trek annually for pies and apple butter. Our grown sons now keep the tradition with our grand children. We start our season off early soon after Halloween to the farm just to run around safely «in the woods» and are always welcomed with hot apple cider. We miss the older Harris folks but love that the farm and traditions are an integral part of our holiday season.

Great pies, wonderful staff, and beautiful Christmas trees to take home

I’ve been going to Harris Tree Farm for the past 6 years and not only do they have the most delicious pies, turnovers and jams, I have always found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. I am happy to support this family farm!

This tree farm is part of the Apple Hill Growers, and recently participated in the Johnny Appleseed Birthday activities. It’s a bit off the beaten path from all the other Apple Hill farms, which can be a good thing since there are fewer people. It’s a pretty small farm and somewhat quaint with a garden, chicken coup and small building where they sell some produce and pies. The staff/​family, however, weren’t very welcoming and didn’t do much to make their visitors feel comfortable in the smaller environment. For this reason, we probably won’t go back, but it has potential if they can make some improvements on their service.
