Knob Hill

Love this place! We stayed in the Master Suite. Everything that’s been said is true. And the tub is the biggest tub we’ve ever seen. Janet, the owner is great! We will return! Like the others have saud, this is not a B&B in the true sense of the word since there was no food provided. But who cares? Town is within walking distance. To be honest, we ate in Olema both nights because it was over the Christmas holiday.

Success! My husband and I stayed here when we were first dating, and apparently it works magic to make people get married. Just kidding, but it definitely is a place I said I’d want to return to for a getaway.
Two years later, here we are again. This time, we are staying in The Little Room, near the front of the house. The Cottage, I believe, is being rented out full-​time to a family (toys and leftover Halloween pumpkins are at the front door). I was a little disappointed to not be able to stay there, with it’s nice woodstove, and small kitchenette. Oh well, such is life.
Due to a last-​minute change of plans, we brought our dog with us. He’s an elderly fellow at age 11, and enjoys a couple good walks a day, and is otherwise content to sleep in front of the heater. Which is perfect for here. I’m so glad that this place allows (well-​behaved) doggies. The owner simply asked that he not be allowed to get mud all over the place. Fortunately, I carry several old hand towels in my car for dogs and other messes; I simply would wipe his paws down after walks. I want to ensure that we do not spoil this place for future folks, by being poor canine citizens. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to request no messy/​poorly behaved dogs.
The only drawbacks remain the same: the bed is quite soft and bouncy, and the showerhead is low! But whatever! It’s a pretty, quiet place that’s a walkable distance to town, is reasonably priced, and best of all, they allow my furry companion.
I look forward to yet another visit in the future.

What a great find! On a last minute decision, I decided to take a trip out to Point Reyes with my boyfriend and it took a lot of phone calls and searching to find a decent place. We learned about Knob Hill through a referral from another B & B since everything was either booked, too $$ for me, or required a minimum 2-​night stay. The location is very convenient, being right in town close to Bovine Bakery (I recommend their morning buns), great places to shop & eat, and a fun local bar. Janet was there to greet us and let us know ahead of time that if she wasn’t there then to follow the instructions posted which would lead us to our room. She has two rooms available, the «Little Room» and the «Cottage.» Both are very reasonably priced for the area, view, and size of the rooms. We opted for the Cottage since it has a great view and patio to enjoy the outdoors. The details we loved in no particular order: clean & neat, cute fireplace (that is connected to the thermostat!), coffee bar (there is a small fridge-​think college dorm size, coffee maker, toaster oven, and all the utensils you need)-this was great for our morning breakfast and snack storage, and space overall. It is very private and Janet is kind enough to greet you but provides you alone time. Things that didn’t bother us per say but may change your mind — no shower, only a HUGE whirlpool tub with a shower head spray, no door to the toilet or tub so hopefully you are comfortable enough with your guests, and most importantly, this is NOT an B & B. If you are seeking a true bed and breakfast experience, I suggest you pick among the plethora of options in Iverness, Point Reyes, or adjacent towns. This place does not provide food or that community feeling you may expect to find at a B&B. We knew this going into our trip so it was fine with us and the cost couldn’t be beat. I was able to do a lot of research on places to stay in the area and what I found was there were places in all price points, but Janet’s little place provided us the most freedom and flexibility for our small budget. She only takes Cash or Check — a true mom & pop set up.
I would definitely recommend this place, especially if you want to get away from the city stress and noise.

Station House Café (Food was great, service OK, wait time none since we reserved)
Hiking at Samuel P. Taylor State Park — this is one of MANY places to hike in the area. We liked this park because it had various hiking trails, beautiful foliage for photos and shade, and bathrooms to wash up in. Also a designated parking lot for day use.
Beaches-​There are also many beaches to choose from to view either the Pacific Ocean, Tomales Bay or Drakes Bay. We’ve been to McClures State Beach (gorgeous views, less people traffic, .5 mile hike to get there from the parking lot), Drakes Beach (it has café, large parking lot, and a visitor center-​seems better for families and BBQs) and a little beach on Tomales Bay referred to as Chicken Ranch Beach-don’t let the ugly name fool you, its a great little beach with not very many people and nice views of the bay.
I hope you can visit this area soon, there is so much to do, great food to eat, places to discover, and a lot of history too!

Stayed in the Master Suite. It’s even better than it looks in the pictures. Do not be deterred by the website. Knob Hill is a great place to stay.

I’m a watercolor painter. California Watercolor Association (CWA) had decided to plein air paint at Pierce Point Ranch, so my husband and I decided to stay a couple of nights in Point Reyes Station. I contacted Janet at Knob Hill to see if she accepted pets. We have 2 small dogs who travel with us. She said ‘yes’!
We stayed in «The Cottage» and really enjoyed ourselves. It is a separate building from the main house. It is a studio with bed and sitting area combined. Wood-​burning stove in the corner, but it has radiant heat too. There is a small refrigerator and toaster oven, dishes for 2 and a small coffee pot. Janet had supplied coffee, half&half and sugar, plus a basket of various teas. Bathroom is nice, shower is very small. It has a small deck on the back with 2 chairs. The view is beautiful!
We would definitely stay in the cottage again if were staying in the area.

My girlfriend and I went here for a relaxing weekend away, and I must say it was a perfect getaway. The Master Suite was simple and quaint but extravagant in all the right places… ie the 2 person hot tub. Wow! Sometimes when you read 2 person tub it doesn’t quite measure up, but not here; this tub did not disappoint. The service was amazing, and Janet is a total sweetheart. She was very helpful, friendly, and accommodating, and the location is close to town but plush and relaxing. We will definitely go back soon. Also when you stay there make a dinner reservation at Osteria Stellina. Book your stay and thank me later.

Stayed in the cottage and had a great experience. Very clean and cozy and great location for Point Reyes outings. The wood burning stove is a nice touch and was ready to go when we arrived. Would definitely recommend this place to friends.

My husband and I stayed in the Cottage after cycling to Point Reyes from San Francisco. Janet had graciously agreed to receive in the mail our dinner clothes earlier in the week and she had the box in our room when we got there. The cottage was just perfect for us. It was quiet, very comfortable, and well thought out. We had purchased cheese and wine at the Cowgirl Creamery and were happy to find that the room had a corkscrew, wine glasses, plates and silverware.
The view out the back deck was wonderful.
The little path to town was excellent for us (because we didn’t want to get back on our bikes.) The location is a perfect combination of close enough to town to walk, but far away enough to be very quiet.
And for the location (anywhere near Point Reyes) the price was inexpensive. (We were there on a Thursday night.)

This is a lovely, relaxing place to chill out and enjoy the quiet of West Marin. Although only 45 minutes from my home, it felt like I was hours away in a private, secluded little town. I stayed in the cottage and it was cozy and comfortable, with a lovely view. It’s only a few minutes to walk to town and indulge at the Bovine Bakery, which of course you can walk off hiking later. The décor is tasetful, very natural, and ecofriendly. She has done an excellent job of making you feel like you are in a friend’s home, comfortable and well-​cared for. I would definitely recommend a stay there!

I agree with London, that this is a lovely place to stay in Point Reyes. We stayed in the master suite, which she discounted for us as it was last minute and a Sunday night. We had originally wanted to stay in the cottage, but it was booked, and the little room only has a double bed, which would not do. The suite is really nice, with a huge tub big enough for two with jacuzzi jets, which was great to soak in and watch the sunset before going out for dinner. You also have your own little deck looking out over the very pretty hills. There are many thoughtful touches to make the stay easy and relaxing. I would advise bringing a flashlight if you go, as getting back after dark would have been difficult finding our way down the path, but it is really quiet and peaceful. The only advantage I can see of staying in the cottage is that you are separate from the main house, in which you can hear some noise of the family, but it was not too bad. It is about a 15 minute walk into town, which was great motivation to work off morning buns from Bovine Bakery, as breakfast is not included. I would definitely stay there again!
