Grilled cheese was amazing. Service was good and beers are cold. Not good for large groups but cozy atmosphere.

Slow service, overlooked food, good locale, and a good selection of cold beer on tap. Wednesday early evening the team didn’t seem on their game. Our server was generally slow and forgetful, although friendly as can be. My party of three waited about three minutes for a hostess – literally were walking out when a waitress called out to us. Our table ordered Scotch eggs, and while good, they were simply overcooked. The sausage was passable although almost blackened and by the last bite were quite crispy and the egg yolks were downright dry and crumbly. So the first bite was passable but by the end not good enough to finish. That’s not good when there’s only four bites! The sauce that with them was very good though. I got the fish sandwich and it was served hot. The fish was good but having a slice of Kraft American cheese on top of it along with a sad looking slice of tomato on an ultra cheap white flour bun was a bit of a disappointment. The chips were fresh and hot but overcooked. When one in our party’s salad came without its dressing, we had to wait a few minutes to ask for it. It didn’t come until five – yep, 5– minutes later. The neighboring table with seven people had two people bringing beer after beer, hovering over them. The truth is that my beer was also served very quickly, but our service for the food portion of the meal was slow overall. I might go back — mostly for the very good happy hour Guinness served perfectly — and give them one more try. But I won’t go out of my way to do so.

One of my favorite places in Plymouth to have lunch, dinner or to watch a game and have a few cocktails. Decent prices and a friendly staff makes your experience that much more enjoyable. Love the Scot– Egg(not all that thrilled with the cracked mustard sauce though) and the Bread pudding is a must even if it always ends up in a to-go container.

Very warm and inviting pub room. A great deal of real wood adorns the walls and even the ceiling. A real Old World charm. The over-reliance on Pandora for the music is a definite negative. There’s no general vibe going on there. It’s R&B to Blink 182 to Rap to 80s Cock Rock. That’s not even remotely conducive to a high-quality social experience. It’s less entertainment and more background noise at that point. It does little more than require patrons to yell rather than speak. The service at the bar is exceptional, Jason usually being the bartender on duty. Fast, efficient, and capable. I haven’t seen too much wait staff, but I also don’t see many empty glasses, so service must be adequate to the need. When we have had table service, it’s been fast and friendly. I am disappointed there is no live music now, on a Thursday. That would have been nice. Still, if what they’re doing keeps the cellar-dwelling community-college drop out Axe-soaked millenials from coming here to fist pump, I’m okay with that. That, and shitty little rat dogs wearing clothes seem to define Plymouth today. Sent from my Verizon Wireless 4GLTE Droid

Great drink specials in a great environment in Downtown Plymouth, especially during happy hour. Service was really good, and very friendly. I HIGHLY recommend trying the Scottish Egg, it’s Phenomenal! Overall, it’s a good solid choice for an outing, lunch, or dinner. Get there early if you want a parking spot though. These spaces are at a premium in the evening.

Sean O’Callaghan’s is my favorite bar in Downtown Plymouth. Pretty sure I come here at least once whenever I make a trip back to Michigan to catch up with old friends. I can’t speak for the food since I’ve never actually dined here, but I really enjoy this bar/pub for various reasons: — There’s this great warm welcoming ambiance right when you walk in(very fitting for an Irish pub) with dark wooden walls/décor — The inside is spacious; there is an area by the bar and a separate dining room for a quieter more private experience — Service is always superb; bartenders are attentive and friendly — Live music on certain nights; adds to the entertainment and fun ambiance — Average priced drinks but a variety to choose from(draft beers and bourbon) I’m a fan of Sean O’Callaghan’s! It’s definitely a solid place to grab drinks. I’m sure I’d frequent this pub if I was still a local, but I’ll continue coming by during my trips back home!

If you’re young and love the pub scene, this place is amazing. If you’re older and want a sports bar kind of scene, don’t come here. I’ve been here three times now and I’m always blown away every time. Every thing I’ve had on the menu is phenomenal. Amazing Mac and cheese. Amazing scotch eggs. Amazing fish and chips. Amazing bread pudding. They also have REALGUINNESS. Like, a proper Guinness with the proper carbonation and proper keeping. Tastes so different than your normal sports bars Guinness. On my last visit, our server was fantastic. We had a group of seven and he memorized all of our orders perfectly. Checked in on us regularly, and was fun to joke around with and talk to. I highly recommend this place if you’re in Plymouth but you’re not into the old people scene that it’s got going. Its not too expensive. Not too prissy. I love this place.

Pros: Open late, creative drink and app specials, clean bathrooms and memorable service. Cons: It was a Thursday night, ergo not much going on that expectations of great service were met. So I met up with a friend for a late night snack and chat at the town’s local coffee shop. But to our dismay, it closed earlier than their posted hours. Granted, we were warned half an hour before. So we decided to come to O’Callaghans instead. The last time we were here was a very busy and crazy St. Pat’s Day night. So when we walked in, most seats were taken, but were able to find a table in the bar area. The server was super sweet, attentive and engaged. We enjoyed the happy hour specials. Spinach Dip was typical, but a good late night appetizer standard, and we were quite pleasantly surprised with the Chips and Curry Dip; spicy and quite savory. Also worth noting was that the ladies rooms were downstairs, quite clean and stocked. I will have to come back on a weekend to really get the full effect — on all the details. But for an off-night, our visit was quite pleasurable.

I was swift and hungry and jonesing for Irish/British pub fare? Not too crowded on a wednesday and the sports tv was mediocre to say the least so I think the waitstaff was not too overwelmed or short staffed ? Took 30 min to get a menu and 30 min to get the food which was mediocre!(Irish Stew) redundant Im sorry! Worst service I have had in about twenty years since that little coney island incident, we won’t go there, but seriously not sure what the waitress problem was? Bad mood I guess same as the bartender(wierd mood also),…the customers seamed fine with their ales and lagers I But I wanted wholesome pub grub hence the website and reviews I think maybe a bad night for all? Should I go back? maybe but not likely, only to get a beer if they can do that correctly? Not to mention the bad hip hop music in an Irish Pub, Blasphemy!

Late Review! . We were only in Plymouth for one night and what a night it turned into thanks to Sean O’callaghans. We came here to watch England lose to Italy in the World Cup last summer. Although the result was extremely depressing, the night turned into one i’ll never forget. We had food and drinks during the game and were set to leave to continue our night elsewhere when a couple asked if we were leaving and if they could have out seats. Cutting a long story short, they were there for a birthday and told us it got popping on a night with a live band. They weren’t wrong. We ended up crashing their birthday celebration, drinking and dancing all night long. The trip could have been a bad memory thanks to a dyer England performance, instead it turned into a night we’ll never forget. Thanks for the memories Sean O’callaghans

We were in Plymouth and searching for a place with good beer and vegetarian or vegan food. We selected Sean O’Calaghans. Seated at the bar and started off with some beers. The server was friendly and helpful and they had a nice selection of craft beers. The menu for a vegan is pretty limited, but they did have a veggie burger(made from a Morningstar patty) that is pretty damn good, covered in grilled onions and mushrooms. And on a Tuesday, was a special priced deal. Fries were also good. Ambience inside was nice, not too loud even though it was full.

Quiet early evening, the place was 40% filled, it took a long time to order. Ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, it was petrified, only about two very dry bits out of the center were edible. When I explained to the wait staff and gave plate back with 90% of the sandwich uneaten, she couldn’t care less. Then it took for ever to get the bill and get the hell out of there. Why do they serve food if they don’t care, stick to beer and bar nuts.

This is not a place I frequent, but I’ve stopped in for a cider or two. I recently found out by default that Thursday evenings are happy hour all night. We felt obliged to check this out and stay longer to enjoy the holidays and friendship. They did not have music that night, which is great because when they do, it is super loud. SUPER loud. They’ve changed the menu from the past so many of my favorites are not on here any more, it’s more pub food than anything. Our server was really attentive and great despite the drunk teacher party going on one table over. Hell, if I was a teacher, I’d drink too. The atmosphere is warm and the wood chunky. It feels like a processed Irish pub, similar to Fado and others around. When I come here I miss real Irish bars like The Tipperary Pub, long gone but remembered fondly. RIP Mr. O’Halloran.

I had high hopes for this little place. It’s nestled into a cute area and looks like a typical Irish Pub. The food was Ok. It was nothing memorable, along with the service. I did have a Cinnamon Toast Crunch cocktail which was really different. It was decent but I wouldn’t order it again. The parking in this area is tricky. You’re better off parking in the parking garage and taking a stroll through lovely Plymouth.

Great find in downtown Plymouth — we came in time for happy hour and there some really great deals on drafts and apps even in a Friday night. I ordered a cup of the potato leek soup and it came with crunch onion strings! The soup was really tasty and I loved having the chunks of onion and potatoes. I then ordered a boxty which was a thinly rolled potato pancake. I got the one with mushrooms, Brie and spinach with garlic cream on the side. It was a bit under salted but it was really tasty and filling. I would definitely come back to try more dishes. The prices are reasonable and while it’s a bar, there’s a really nice seating place where it’s quieter.

I just now realized that I have not yet rated our common go to place. Similar to some of my other reviews, the place isnt to die for… and it doesnt suck… so we come here occasionally. We used to hit up Seans back in the day(and I mean years ago) for half price apps, which included their DELICIOUS oyster Rockefeller… it has been years since they took off the greats and scaled back to standard fare. We will stop in Seans for the drinks and live music… but only hit the dinner scene for the $ 2 burgers. They are good. Excellent for $ 2 but decent on the real scale. They changed up their happy hour menu, so the $ 3 pints are good but apps used to be a lot cheaper. Again, food is standard. We do have a couple of favorite waitresses and waiters… but cannot remember their names. All in all. Decent food. Decent service. Nice décor.

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to write a review about this place. I don’t normally come here to eat, usually just to drink. I did, however, come in on Monday night to do both. They had some good beer specials and a special on their chicken wings. They have live music in there quite a bit and it’s generally very good. O’Callaghans always seems to have some good happy hour specials and every time I come here I always think, «I want to come back on such and such day so I can get the such and such special.» Their beer selection is always solid and varied. They generally have some selections from Founder’s and Bells on tap. So…the food. As I said, I don’t normally eat here, but when I do, it’s really good. The chicken wings. I love chicken wings. It is my go-to bar order. I know chicken wings. O’Callaghans has some great chicken wings. I’ve been searching for wings like these since I moved back from Brooklyn. Not that Brooklyn is known for their chicken wings… but there was a place I had an unhealthy relationship with.(Shout out to O’Keefe’s Bar and Grill in Brooklyn Heights) I hadn’t found wings like theirs until Monday. Big, meaty, man-size wings. If they’re breaded, it’s ever so subtle. Anyway, I must have looked like a wild animal ripping into those things. So good. Here’s why I’m rating this place a 4 instead of a 5: The ranch dressing was very watery… really detracted from the superb wings. The bar area is fun and engaging, but if it’s crowded, you get stuck in the«side room» which is a dining area and there’s nothing going on in there. Definitely will be back. Soon.
