I’m a new patient at Dr. Rizkalla’s office. I’m very impressed and have already referred a friend! I was greeted immediately; insurance coverage was explained. I was taken right on time for my appointment, and received a very thorough cleaning by Juliana. She was very gentle, friendly and professional. Unfortunately she found the start of a cavity, so I’ll be back in two weeks. They assured me Dr. Rizkalla is very gentle. I’ll have to let you know!

Was forced to use them because they were on my dental insurance plan. Office staff is rude, unprofessional, loud, and downright obnoxious. Every time I got a teeth cleaning from here, my gums bled for at least a day because of how rough the hygienists were.
If you are someone who has had previous bad experiences at the dentist but need to get back in to one, do not go here. They will simply reinforce your fear of visiting the dentist’s office.

They are the worst! We only used them because of our insurance. The office staff is very rude and unprofessional! The hygienists they hire are extremely rough. I would have to ask them to be careful. It made a difference, but why isn’t «Being Careful» just part of their job?
I recommend getting your teeth drilled at Lowe’s or Home Depot over Rizkalla!!!

Do not under any circumstances consider scheduling any appointments at this office with either of the dentists father or son. The staff is incredibly rude, incompetent and the skill of the elder dentist is very questionable. They do not care about their patients beyond getting paid. Such a waste of a beautiful old building

Responding to Aquarian A:
You know what’s expensive? Having a root canaled tooth have to be removed because your previous botched it and needing to get an implant. Yep.
I don’t shy away from expense when it comes to my health.
The «negative review» was based on my experiences there, not because of the fact that money was involved. Treating me like a person would be nice, not just a wallet.
Just an FYI: I haven’t named names at the other dentists I’ve gone to but they entirely know who I’m talking about. That’s pretty sad.

I have been to this dentist on a few occasions. I had Karim and he was great! The office staff was very helpful in explaining my coverage and offering me alternatives and options for the treatments that I needed. The dental assistants were great and patient when I told them that I was a baby when it came to the dentist. Karim himself was also very patient, very professional and a genuine nice guy. One of the better dental experiences I’ve ever had.

Rizkalla was on my dental plan and were in the area so I chose them randomly over the others. The office is in one of those beautiful old houses downtown and is really pretty inside with hardwood floors and crown molding. This has nothing to do with their dentistry, but I thought I’d mention it.
So anyways, I had a not so great experience here. For starters, I hadn’t been to the dentist in year bc of being away at grad school, periods of not having dental insurance, and just simple proscrastination. When I went they asked if I wanted Xrays, to which I replied, «only if I need ‘em.» Well the hygenist didn’t like that too much and proceeded to guilt trip me into bombarding myself with Xrays, which I had recently read an article about how you should refuse Xrays if there is no real problem to warrant it. So anyways, I declined and it wasn’t taken too kindly. I was told all she could do was «clean my teeth,» which is what I went in there for anyways so that was fine.
During my cleaning, I learned that I had the first cavity of my life, not surprising since I hadn’t been to the dentist in about 6 years. When I came back for my filling, the dentist didn’t use a topical anesthetic on my gums (which I have learned from friends and family is rather barbaric) before inserting the mile-​long needle and proceeded to drill me before the numbness had begun. Never having had a filling before, I layed there like a dumbass and just tried to deal with it.
At the end he asked me to bite down to see if it felt even and I couldn’t really tell bc my face was numb. When I got home, I realized it was really uneven and had to go back the next week to have it filed down. Again, I’ve learned that most dentists give you a paper to bite down on so that they can tell if its even, given that the patient has no feeling in their face and mouth.
I didn’t give it 1 star bc the building is pretty, the location is convenient and they have plenty of evening appts. Also the desk staff was very accommodating and pleasant even when I had to cancel an appt at the last minute.
