Some of the best pizza I’ve had. There is nothing like pizza cooked with wood fire. This place is truly authentic Neapolitan. They use DOP San Marzano tomatoes and«00» flour. This is how pizza should be in my book. If you’re wanting Pizza Hut pizza, not here! If you are looking for a true Italian experience, this is your place. Great wine too! Finish with a delicious cannoli and glass of mango moscato… yum!

This is our go to weekend restaurant. The atmosphere is very chill and the service is great. Make sure you try the artichoke dip, it’s excellent. Everything on the menu is excellent.

Favorite spot in downtown Plymouth. The pizza and apps are great, service is fast and wine is delicious. The place is always packed, so it can be difficult to get a table.

Excellent pizza, decent wine selection. The white pizza with truffles is one of my favorites. It gets busy on the weekends, so show up early or be prepared to wait.

Came here on a Wednesday night around 8:30 pm and expected a long wait, but to our delight we were seated right away. We started with wine and the highly recommended artichoke dip. As expected the artichoke was an absolute treasure it was cheesy and stone oven cooked therefore exquisitely crispy on the surface and cheesy and soft on the inside. The pizza is neapolitan style stone oven baked, the menu had so many great options it was almost hard for me to decide. We ended up ordering the sorrento, vesuvio and funghi. Everyone was happy with their order and the pizza was definitely delicious however I would’ve liked the pizza to be a bit more crispy and less soft crusted. Overall great food, great service. If in town will go again.

This was the second time we visited. The first experience was pretty good — we ate outside and just one order of the bread with a pizza overwhelmed us. We’re fans of neopolitan pizza places. It was too much food for us. We decided to visit again two weekends ago on a Saturday afternoon. The place was PACKED. but not in a good way. The restaurant itself is very narrow. The hostesses shoe-horned us into a row of bar tables between the bar and regular dining tables. There was a large party at the regular dining tables which took up an inordinate amount of space in the restaurant. Both my wife and I were bumped several times by staff and patrons as they were trying to deliver food, go to the bathroom, or just walking between tables. The service was likely fast, but we were so distracted by constantly getting bumped, that we asked to get our dinner to go. As we were walking out, I saw the hostesses direct another set of suckers to our table. I appreciate the need to accommodate customers, but I would recommend rethinking service to that row of bar tables.

Really delicious and relatively fast service! We had the polenta fries, roasted Brussels sprouts with prosciutto, Pompeii and Vesuvius pizzas — all delicious and perfect for sharing amongst 4 girls!

Pizza e Vino had been on my bookmarked list for quite awhile. I came with a friend after work on a Thursday for pizza and a glass of wine. Like almost everyone has mentioned, the pizzas are thin crust and on the smaller size. Be prepared to get more than one or one and a salad/appetizer. We started with the artichoke spread appetizer. Its a rich dish of cheese, artichokes and spices and is served warm with a wonderful rosemary flatbread. It was very flavorful, but pretty salty. Given the appetizer was rich, we ended up splitting the buffalina pizza. The sauce and cheese were great. I could have gone for a tad bit more basil. The crust was nice and crunchy. They have several options for pizza and offer red sauced pizzas as well as white sauced pizzas. The drink menu is really fantastic as well. They have a great wine selection. I had a glass of the Dante Pinot Grigio and my friend had a white sangria. She said it was nice and refreshing not too sweet. The waitress did mention that if you like sweeter sangrias, the red sangria is a better option. In addition to wine, they offered several different beers and some unique cocktails. I suggest getting here early. The restaurant isn’t very big and there was quite a line when we left at 7:20. Overall, a great place to enjoy some authentic pizza and great drinks!

Taken awhile for me to get here because I’ve often been available to visit on Mondays when they are unfortunately closed. The place was packed(as always) when we arrived. We put our name in and waited about 20 minutes. Pretty good considering its often a lot longer. We ordered the Marghareta Pizza. One of my favorites because it’s simple and you can really get a good idea of the pizza, crust and ingredients without being overwhelmed with a bunch of toppings. It was delicious! Reminded me of Italy. Perfect crust thickness, fresh sauce and cheese. I’m looking forward to returning to try more menu items. The wine was good and the Cappuccino was decent. Wish they regular coffee as well though. Not ashtrays in the mood for an Espresso or Cappuccino with their hefty prices and no refills.

Cosi si mangia la pizza a Napoli is their motto meaning, just like eating pizza in Naples! The entire menu is based around their wood burning oven and known for fresh, non-processed ingredients. Thankfully we got there just in time before the hour long wait time, which caused a lot of chaos in the front, back and lower waiting areas. Everything was absolutely amazing, our server which by luck I get all the time when I go there, is always on top of it. Started off with a couple of cheese/prosciutto plates, followed by Insalata 849, Della Casa and Rustica, all topped with the best balsamic dressing I have ever had. Well as for the pizza we kind of got carried away, Americano, Margherita, Bufalina and Capricciosa. The pizza dough along with the bread slices have a hint of Rosemary in it, the server said that the pizza dough are imported from Italy, mix all that together and throw it into the wood burning oven and it spits out an amazing array of pizzas! Even their tiramisu is homemade, true authentic recipe at it’s best! And for the record I didn’t understand why anyone would name their place Pizza e Vino Cellar 849, what’s with the numbers? Well it’s their address, go figure!

They don’t take reservations so be prepared to wait… but it’s worth it. This is the closest I’ve gotten to the pizza I had in Italy. It is WONDERFUL. It is authentic, fresh, and flavorful. My friends and I also like getting a salad to share(the arugula and goat cheese one is my favorite) before our pizza comes. I always come here when I am craving pizza because it is the BEST place(outside of Italy…) to get it.

Honestly, this probably really is a 4 or 5 star place when it comes to the food. I am rating it based on my own overall experience though and how I would feel about coming here again if someone suggested it. And right now, I’d say my enthusiasm is probably a 3 or 3.5. Neopolitan pizza is typically not my favorite for one reason. The center of the pizza is usually soggy every where I order it. When it comes to thin crust pizza, I prefer a little more crunch. Not too crunchy, but not the consistency of raw dough in the center either. Yes, I know it’s the traditional pizza of Italty, blah blah blah. It’s just not my preference, but I won’t knock them down for that since I think they do well at what they set out to do. The have some creative combinations and the ingredients are very high quality. If this type of pizza is your thing, I don’t think these guys will disappoint you. The place is really nice inside, but loud. I am still pretty certain that the night I went was more busy than usual. but from what I understand, long wait times are pretty normal. In which case they really need to upgrade their waiting process. It’s chaotic, confusing, and uncomfortable. I know numerous places that have a system where you get a text when your table is ready. It was a nice night, I would have much preferred going across the street to get a coffee rather than waiting an hour(yes… an hour for a table for two). I cannot imagine why they wouldn’t have something like this if they have waits with any consistency, and would definitely keep me from returning on night that I suspect might be busy. No food is worth waiting that long for. That said, the hostess and are server were nice despite the crowds and chaos, and the service was pretty solid. I could see coming back here on a slower day and really liking it, but it was not at all relaxing on busy nights.

I really enjoy this place. Great food and good service. We always get the Americano pizza and then another one to try. We have not had a miss yet. The Rustica salad is super good as well. I haven’t had the Brussels Sprouts but they look awesome. They do have some odd practices– bar is not first come during a wait, if you want to have a drink while waiting they put you in a corner in the back next to the stairs to the bathroom versus the waiting area and if there are two open seats at the bar they won’t ask people to move down a seat.(You can but they won’t). Bartenders are friendly and will make an effort to introduce new wines when at the bar.

First off, I have to say that I used to work at cellar(now over 2 years ago). However, I hope this is still recognized as a genuine review. I was a regular before I worked there and am a regular now. It is still hands down my favorite place to eat in Plymouth. Seriously good food. The pros: insanely fresh, quality ingredients. I can vouch that the owner ships ingredients from Italy for taste and authenticity. My favorites are the patate pizza and the prosciutto arugula pizza! Additionally, I never feel like the servers are pushing to flip tables. I can take my time enjoying their delicious food and wines without feeling rushed or as if I’m annoying the server. The cons: as someone who often works nights, it is disappointing that their hours are relatively restricted(but understandable, this is something I’ve learned to accept.) Prepare for a lengthy wait if you are coming Thursday-Friday during the dinner rush. I wish they would incorporate a texting pager system like many restaurants do now to prevent such a crowd waiting. If you enjoy authentic fresh Italian pizza and appetizers and are willing to wait, this is a must try.

Good food but you can’t have a glass of wine at the bar during your inevitably long wait because they seat food chowing customers there. You can however awkwardly stand behind the wall in the back and perch your beverage on a ledge.

We came here on a Saturday night at 9pm. The waitress we had was phenomenal. She had a great knowledge of wine and asked my wife some great probing questions to figure out what to bring her, we then received some samples to further help her choose. We settled on a Chardonnay and it was amazing. I also had two of their basil cocktails which were fantastic. In terms of food we had no complaints Either. We started with the Brussels sprouts which actually tasted healthy but fun At the same time. Many times restaurants overly roast them and use too much oil– here they still retain their vegetable character but some ham and light burning was done to give them some easy flavor. For pizza I had the pistachio pesto with sausage. It was awesome! Seriously one of the better flavor profiles I have had on a pie. It was thin crust but not too thin. Definitely not a flat bread, but also not too much. The perfect amount of food for 1 hungry male adult. A medium hungry couple on a diet could have easily split it and been happy(but not truly happy because they are on a diet, and thus continually miserable) Our only qualm was that the place closed before 11pm. We were with friends and would have hoped it would have stayed open until at least 12.

I enjoy this place a great deal. Very old world vibe and quality. The pizzas are astounding, owing I am sure to the quality ingredients and wood-fired oven. What I really like is it’s a place where you can be entertained watching the pizza kitchen work. It’s not hidden from view in any way. It really adds to the experience. I like the wine selection and the service is always awesome. It’s a great place to grab a meal before a classic film at Penn Theatre, a short walk down the well-lit safe street. Convienent to the free City parking structure too.

Terrible service. It took 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge me at the door. We then had to argue that we were even there for 10 minutes to even get on the wait list for a table. Then, while waiting, 3 chairs opened up at the bar, we ran to them to get a drink. The bartender told us we would have to wait In the basement, as only customers eating could sit at the bar! After being assured by the bartender that someone would serve us in the basement, we went there. After 15 minutes we left. Food here is great. Service and general courtesy is deplorable. This was my last visit here. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to steer clear. Good work hostess!!!

Wood fire brick oven pizza as best as it gets around here. This is real Napoletana pizza, the whole pizza just bursts with flavor. They use quality ingredients and you can tell, just about everything you get here is on point. I do not like how they put salt on their pizza though, but maybe that’s just part of the authenticity of the place. The food is also light but leaves you feeling satisfied. Definitely worth a visit!

With very high Unilocal!Rating of 4.5-star(many people giving 5-star rating) and certified Napoletana pizza restaurant, my expectation was high and I really wanted to love Pizza e Vino Cellar… –All quality ingredients used(but overall balance just wasn’t there/missing) –Pizza crust/dough had good flavor and chewiness(but lacked a bit of crispness that you find in Napoletana pizza. Server issue?) –Very salty… You’ll really notice this is you take leftover home and eat it(maybe it’s on salty side considering guests would have few glasses of wine? ex. salty popcorn served at bars) –Good atmosphere and service –Traditional and Classic Pizza Margherita served with burned basil leaf(without any fresh leaves for aroma and flavor before serving) is not authentic(especially for the price you pay, even considering location premium/downtown Plymouth) In the end, I’m really glad that I’ve tried Pizza e Vino Cellar. Would I go again? Probably not. They do offer good pizza but I expect to be blown away + addicted at their rating of 4.5-star and the price point. Overall their pizza did not give me enough happy brain chemicals to be a repeat customer.

If you have had a great pizza in one of umpteen European cities, and wondered if said pizza was available stateside, then stop wondering… Wood fired at 800 F and made from some crust flour that I’ve never heard of, this place makes the kind of pizza that is unlike any other pizza joint. In addition to great pizza, they have loads of wines from near and far, and some seriously great appetizers. We came here expecting something good, and left with a total feeling of wanting to come again.

As someone who LOVES traveling to Italy, especially for it’s Pizza, this is definitely at par with the pizza that I have had in Italy. The ambiance of restaurant is very cozy and makes you feel good the second you step inside, although it retrospect it’s probably the high you get from smelling the delicious food that comes straight from their brick oven. My suggestion when you go there is to sit at the bar, you can peek at the food being made and you get your drinks ASAP. Anyways, I really like to start with an appetizer. Be careful though. Their apps are pretty big, so its easy to get full off of them if you intend to have dinner as well. To be truthfully honest, I have never been disappointed with anything that I have ordered. Also, I highly suggest that you ask the bartender what new wine they have in, they have really great wines for any palette.

A friend of mine noticed I bookmarked this spot and after a bit of research, he insisted we check it out. Turned out to be the right thing to do. Cellar 849 is nothing short of incredible. First off, I have to say how impressed I was with my first trip to Plymouth. The downtown area is filled with a number of eclectic shops and eateries. It was a comfortable and fun place to hang out. We checked in with the hostess and waited about 10 minutes before being seated at the bar. Not bad at all for a busy Friday evening. Decided to go with 2 pies — one with and one without sauce. Bufalina and prosciutto it was. «Flame-blackened blisters» on top of a beautiful thin crust. Chewy & delicious! But among all else it was the sauce that stood out. Apparently it’s the San Marzano tomatoes to be thankful for. I want this sauce on a bed of noodles or paired with a grilled cheese to dip in. Give me a bowl to drink it! Yes, this is the best sauce I’ve ever had on a pie! Thank you Mr John Corsi for your drive and passion to create the best pizza possible

Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in Michigan! I found this restaurant while searching for CERTIFIED Napoletana pizza — wouldn’t you know this is the ONLY place that is certified Napoletana pizza in Michigan?! That means the pizza is made with authentic ingredients(special flour, San Marzano tomatoes, etc) and prepared using a specific wood burning oven. My absolute favourite pizza place in Toronto is also certified and I didn’t think I’d ever find a similar restaurant in Michigan… but I did! I love the Bufalina pizza. Delicious San Marzano sauce, basil, Bufalina cheese… Mouth watering. This is pizza you will want to fold. Actually, I encourage you to pick up a slice and fold it. It’s super thin crust and chewy in the best way. This is a pizza and wine bar — the bar is limited, so don’t be expecting a variety of liquor or beer. Ciao!

A fine example of something that, just because it’s authentic/old school/classic, doesn’t make it the best. The 12″ pizzas cost fourteen bucks, first of all, which is a little pricey for what you get, despite the quality of ingredients. My main problem with this place, besides the fact I was expecting something great due to the Unilocal scores, is that the«under crust» is brutally thin — so thin you can’t pick the pizza up, or even cut it – you have to tear it with a fork. Cellar 849 offers take out, of course, but by the time you get home to eat it, this pizza will just basically be a mushy pile of soup in your box. The pizza’s good and everything, but I feel like this place has 4.5 stars because a slew of drunks were on their second bottle of wine when they got their pizza. For the price, it’s just not that great, regardless of how authentic it is. The Misto Salumi(spelling) was insanely salty — I know they have cured meats all over it, but wowza. The other one I tried has a name I can’t remember, but it had chicken sausage on it… that one was a bit better. If you want a wood/brick oven pizza that lives up to the hype, I’d recommend Motor City Brewing Works in Detroit. 3.5 rounded down just because I expected to be wowed, and I just wasn’t. Not to say it’s a bad pizza, but I’ve had considerably better for cheaper.

We thought it would be a quiet evening when we entered this small, rustic, but brightly painted restaurant off of Main St, on Penniman. There was a sole patron at the bar so we had the pick of tables at 5pm, mid-week. Along one wall, there were shelves with wine bottles; tables were jammed together to accommodate the soon-to-be swelling crowds. I wanted to try the wood-fired artichoke dip served with soft, pillowy focaccia bread. The dip was chunky, cheesy, and briny, a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. Both Neapolitan pizzas that I tried were delicious. The crust was soft, supple and tender — paper-thin good. I liked the Salsiccia, a red-sauced, spicy sausage pizza with fresh mozzarella cheese and sprigs of sweet basil. Simple and good. I loved the half-slice of white pizza that I snatched off my friend’s plate. The Pompeii featured mozzarella cheese, pesto sauce, mushroom, and ham. She also added thinly-sliced zucchini to the mix, increasing the sweet, subtle flavor. Our server was fantastic. She answered our questions patiently and knowledgeably. Even though the crowds grew, we never felt rushed.

If you have kids — DONNOTGOHERE. SO, I called ahead and made a reservation for 8(2 Kids), showed up on time, they said there are 3 groups ahead of us.(I don’t know what was the point of reservation) But ok No Problem, we waited nearly an Hour, 2 tables cleared. they were setting the table. we thought we were going to be called. but No, I asked the girl how much longer, The kids were getting super hungry, they said they are waiting for tables to clear up, I asked about the empty table, they said. it might be cramped and we cannot join tables. So, one customer walking out told us that another lady sitting next to the empty tables told the manager don’t let them sit here. she dint like to sit with kids around. When I asked to talk to the manager, he said we cant do anything. if you want you wait for the corner table to clear out or wait for some more ppl to leave. I said thanks and Walked out. 1 — The manager did not even have the curtsey to explain or apologize for 1.5 Hrs wait. 2 — The Most UN — Child friendly service.(I must say the kids were behaving 3 — I don’t even care how the food is in this place at this point. 4 — These People are not worth the business. Did not expect this from such a restaurant. very disappointing.

Just discovered this place a few weeks ago and have been twice now. Love the atmosphere. Would love to sit outside to dine but on the nice summer evenings there’s more of a wait outside than in. Both times our waiter has been very attentive — I’m bummed I can’t remember our waiters name last night. He made some fabulous suggestions and took the time to explain what makes their pizza Neapolitan-style pizza. The pizza is clearly the star of the joint but don’t overlook the wonderful appetizers — especially the artichoke dip! The salads are wonderful thanks to the amazing homemade balsamic dressing. The one thing that will keep me coming back is the Salsiccia pizza. If you like Italian sausage you’ve got to try this pizza. It’s made in house and has a wonderful fennel flavoring. Great for girls night out or date night. Give it a try — you will not be disappointed!
