History

Established in 2000.

In October of 2000 Carl’s Golfland opened a second location at the St. John’s Golf and Conference Center in Plymouth, Michigan. The new state of the art store is a showplace among all the golf retail stores in the country. The Plymouth location also has a full practice facility featuring: grass tees, heated tees, putting green, sand bunker and chipping area. Carl’s Golfland at St. John’s is also a member of the pretigious GolfWorld 100 Best Golf Shops award having been named to the list every year since opening in 2000.

In 2011 both Carl’s locations were named to the first ever Golf Digest Top Club Fitters in Amercia with Carl’s Bloomfield named to the Top 100 section of the Top Club Fitters List.

Had a great customer service experience here. After managing to damage a brand new driver while using it for the first time, I called Callaway to see about getting it replaced. They told me that Carl’s would be able to swap it out much faster than if I sent it back to Callaway in the mail. So I drove to Carl’s, the the gentleman helping me out (Mike), thought the damage was borderline to what Callaway would cover under warranty. I was a little bummed out, but he said he’d check in the back to see if they even had any more of the club in stock (I am a lefty). A few minutes later, he came back out and handed me a brand new club with no more questions asked. Totally made my day! Will definitely purchase from Carl’s again.

Go see Ed at the Plymouth store! You won’t be disappointed. Just did a driver fitting with him. He was knowledgeable, professional and accommodating (he spent two hours working with me). Walked out with a driver that I never would’ve tried (Nike Vapor) but it felt great and Ed used Trackman analytics to show me how much better that driver performed with my swing. He took all the guess work out of the process. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Merchandise is good and the prices seem competitive. Staff seems fairly knowledgeable. Manager has always been a good guy.
Big problem is checkout. There is no queue line, which is OK if staff is competent. But they must give cashiers an IQ test and don’t allow anyone who scores above a 70 to be behind register. One will interrupt another who is ringing up a customer with some ridiculous and time consuming matter. They take forever. There is line jumping — they never know who is next, and don’t care if they leave you standing there. When you try to get their attention, you can forget getting a ‘be right with you’. All you get is a dumb look.

Carls is everything you are looking for in golf supplies. The store is clean, organized, and they have a huge selection of clubs, apparel, shoes, bags, rain gear, etc. The range is grass (except when it rains or it’s winter — then the tee area is covered and heated). Great chipping area and putting green. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Carls is by far the nicest golf shop in Michigan. Their practice facilities are top notch, and there is plenty of room to spread out and practice chipping, putting, sand shots, plus the range. Inside they have the biggest selection of clubs, bags and clothes I have ever seen. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Carls for any golfer from beginner to advanced and everyone in between. The only negative I can say is the parking lot is to small and can be a challenge on a nice weather day.

This is the best there is!
I went here because I was shooting a round of golf. This is an extension of the best golf shoppe in the Detroit area. Their main branch is on Telegraph. You get a good selection of all the current golf supplies and clothing and shoes on the market. It is smaller than the main but just as good.
Prices are reasonable. Availability of item very good.
Advantage St. John’s: A golf course to play with your new toys.
Advantage Main: Driving Range to test possible new toys.

Carl’s Golfland is like a candy shop for golfers. With an overwhelming selection of golf clubs, accessories & apparel, they stock most everything you could want.
Their knowledgeable staff is a great resource for novice golfers like me, and they will let you try out the clubs on their driving range.
They also have a large selection of golf shoes for men & women. Be sure to check out the sale racks for great deals on last year’s apparel & shoe fashions.
Besides the retail store and driving range, they offer golf lessons. I took the beginner class two years ago which really helped my game… writing this makes me think I could use a refresher!
With a putting green, driving range & large retail store, Carl’s Golfland has a lot to offer every golfer. Allow yourself plenty of time and don’t expect to leave empty handed.
