Impeccable! I couldn’t be happier with the level of service and attention we received from Peter and Phyllis. Buying a house has been the most expensive purchase of our lives. These guys are amazing (special shout out to Peter McDowell) They go out of their way to perfectly stage your home, produce high-​quality brochures and marketing materials, rely on their major network, and do what it takes to get your home sold quickly at the price it’s worth.
We came to Peter after an awful experience with another realtor who used crappy photos, marketing methods from the 1980s, staging and photos and online marketing from his wife (who specializes in none of these), and then pressured us to lower our price because he couldn’t sell it. His open houses seemed a rouse to promote other homes.
So when we met Peter, we couldn’t believe the difference. The guy bent over backwards to do a good job for us. Above and beyond! For instance, he even fed our lizards when we went out of town. Really, who does that? He is white glove all the way and I can’t thank him enough!
Our last realtor told us to lower our price to $ 875,000 (we’d already lowered it twice at his suggestion) and then yelled at us when we argued that we thought it was poor marketing that was the problem, not the price as houses nearby were selling at higher prices. Yes, he yelled at my husband! He then said «fine, go with someone else if you’re not happy,» (all we’d suggested was that he used online marketing tactics). «But mark my words, he said, you’ll get no more than $ 900,000 for this house.» We felt 45 days with no offers was enough of an incentive to go with someone else.
Peter thought the price we’d wanted was fair. In fact, he got us our first offer of $ 930,000 3 days before his first open house. I believe it’s because he put more effort into getting the word out and positioning it nicely than just trying to be Mr. Social Sweet Talker. We believe we would have gotten more had it not sat with the previous realtor for 45 days with no offers. But we were happy with what Peter did for us. Very happy!
Lessons learned? MANY! Do your homework and make sure your realtor cares about your situation, uses modern technology, and does not sweet talk you until the contract is signed and then begin his «lower your price» strategy the same day. That’s truly the way it went down.
Selling a house can be stressful! With the right team, not so much! I wish we’d found Peter sooner.
TIP: Watch the Million Dollar Listing episode about Pleasanton. First because it’s awesome (and features everything you love about PTown) and second because Peter and Phyllis are in it. They work for Andrew at Sotheby’s now, who is one of the main guys on the show. :) Peter git us into the sneak preview event so we had the pleasure of meeting the reality stars. Yep, he’s that good of a guy!

We bought their listing house and six month later they still have yet to pick up supra box and get us the key inside.
