Visualeyes Optometry

New to area and needed a new eye doctor. Reviews looked positive so I gave it a try. When you visit a new doctor, they typically want to evaluate you completely to get a baseline. That did not happen here.
I visited for an annual eye appointment and after the doctor tried up selling me a voluntary service I declined and after he tried selling his services to others in my family, he notified me that I would need to come back to have a more comprehensive exam in a few months and at that time he would dilate my eyes and the elective service I declined would be necessary. When I asked to have my eyes dilated as per the usual annual eye exam routine with my past Doctor he said this wasn’t the appointment I had made and he didn’t have time. When I made the appointment, I made it clear it was an annual exam. Clearly, they are focused on making money and he shared that my insurance will cover most of my next visit because it will qualify in the new year. I realized this doctor was a quack and after refilling my prescription made no mention that I needed a follow up appointment. This is important… Beware of their auto generated emails scheduling an appointment that you never requested.
I waited 3 weeks and then finally called about my prescription glasses. Apparently, they’d been there for a few weeks, just no one bothered to call. Once they have your money, they don’t bother following up on their «service».
Now, 2 months after visiting that quack I get an email with an appointment date and time I never requested. I called the office and learned they make the appointment for you and you need to call back to reschedule if it doesn’t work. But… Read the fine print… You miss the appointment YOU PAY. So imagine if you miss the email.
Don’t bother going to this place. It’s a business that doesn’t care about the individual. They show you a friendly demeanor but behind that thin façade they don’t care about the patient and will up sell you for services so they can bill your insurance.

Dr. Kim is outstanding — she is very knowledge and personable. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an optometrist for themselves or their children. My entire family of 4 has been seeing her since 2008!

Professional and friendly staff with top-​notch service and expertise. I have brought the entire family here for check-​ups and I feel that we are in excellent hands. Dr. Kim is great with the kids and has a proactive approach to eye care that I appreciate.

Here for our regular check up. First time at their new location. The clinic/​office looks really nice, modern and clean. The employees are very helpful. Dr Kim is awesome and very informative when going thru the exam! Highly recommended.

My family and I have been coming here for almost 4 years since we moved to Bay Area.
First of all, the office is very clean and well maintained.
Both Dr. Kim and Dr. Laubach are always professional and friendly. They always inform me ahead of time about the procedures and involved costs before they are performed. The staffs are courteous and helpful as well.
I highly recommend this place for all your vision needs.

Not sure who these other *raging* patients are going to but but Dr. Kim and Dr. Laubach are top notch. And I’m picky! I first found Dr. Laubach about 8~ years ago when I used to live in the South Bay. Moved to Pleasanton, happy to find him. Moved to Concord 3 years later, I still drive down to Pleasanton for my annual appts because he’s great. When he’s not in, I see Dr. Kim who has helped in emergency eye situations a couple of times, and she rocks too.
Always, always professional, super nice and likeable! You gotta like your drs people or you’re just wasting your time and money. The staff has always explained things in a clear and concise manner. I’ve never felt ripped off and I’ll keep driving down for my visits!

Friendly staff in a comfortable environment. I am able to find the frame styles I’m looking for and the staff has helped me with special orders as well.
Appointments start on time without waiting and the process is easy, especially for a doctor’s visit.
This is now my primary optician.

Dr. Kim and Dr. Laubach are by far the most professional and greatest optometrists I have ever met. They are undoubtedly some of the most genuine doctors you will ever find, considering that they put their costumers satisfaction above all. The service at Visualeyes is efficient and I feel comfortable going there whether it’s regarding needing new glasses and/​or contacts, or going in for my usual checkups. I have trusted and stuck with them for over 10 years and I have never found myself needing to switch to another optometrist or find another place to go to.

I have been a patient of Visulaeyes since they have been in business. Dr. Kim and her staff have always been professional and we have been able to get appointment timely. My daughter was here over the Christmas holiday from NC and Visualeyes was able to accommodate getting her and her son an appointment while she was visiting. Dr. Kim is good with kids and the staff if very friendly and professional. They have a good selection of frames and help you find the best ones to fit your face.

Update to my previous review. I decided to pay the $ 60 because I am going in a beach vacation and really need to wear contacts so I can wear sun glasses. My husband went in because they treated me so bad I could not bring myself to go in there. My husband was put in a room and Dr. Lee Came in and threw a copy of my Unilocal and told him he wasn’t getting anything no matter what he paid. I called VSP and they got them on the phone she told them she was still refusing to release my prescription because I Unilocaled her business. VSP made them refund the whole contact visit so I was able to go get another contact eye exam elsewhere. The did not charge a fitting fee. They said they charge this fee for someone that has worn contacts for 25 years and wears the same brand for years.
They will get you in the door with their lies and then charge you more than they said they would. If you go here get everything in writing. I was only going to make an appointment for me and my daughter if they waived the $ 60.00 each contact fitting fee which they said the would. After exams they wouldn’t order my contacts until this fee was paid. I was lied to and then called a liar in front of other customers and my daughter. When I told them I needed my contacts because mine are old and are hurting my eyes, they said they didn’t care. I asked to have Dr. Kim call me several times. When I called them and asked why the Doctor wasn’t calling me I was told and she won’t be calling you because she is not going to do anything for you. Their staff has the worst customer service ever. The male Doctor talked to me like I was a child and it was very uncomfortable. He was trying to up sell the whole time so the appointment took forever. I will never go here again and either should you. I was in tears when I left due to them trying to charge me an extra $ 120.00 for services they promised I wouldn’t be charged for. They won’t give me my prescription even though they have been paid by VSP. I have a grievance charge pending with VSP now to see if they can.

Still waiting for a call to set up an appointment. Jenelle in office asked me to email our most recent eye exam reports for my 7 y.o. daughter. After Dr. Kim reviews the reports I will get a call to set up an appointment for an assessment (we’re interested in vision therapy). More than a week, no call. Follow up email asking how long it will take to schedule an appointment got a response saying they are scheduling into July and again, please wait until doctor reviews reports and they will call to set up an appointment. I’ve given up and am looking elsewhere. If they think they won’t need to do a vision learning exam on my daughter based on her last exam, or they think they won’t recommend vision therapy, at least call me back to let me know instead of leaving me hanging.

I’ve been a client of the business for 2 years, and I love their attitude and service! The doctors are gracious even when I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I received three — count ‘em, 3 — email reminders for my app’t., each one closer to the day of the app’t.
There only two drawbacks to their practice. One is a lack of weekday evening hours and weekend hours by the doctors — I work in SF, and I can’t get to their place during their weekday business hours, and the doctors work only one weekend day/​month (can’t really blame them). Maybe the doctors could stagger their hours 1x/​week, so that there’s early evening coverage, although I’m sure they want their entire staff there to provide one-​stop shopping.
The other is the price of their frames and lenses. Like other small optometry businesses, they make their real money on selling glasses. They have a few low-​cost frames, but I found them unappealing, compared to Costco’s offering. The lenses have a lot of a la carte additions, e.g., anti-​glare, anti-​reflective coatings, compared to Costco’s including these goodies in the base price of the glasses.
I bought my computer lenses there, there because they offer a progressive lens.

The doctors are ok but very disappointed with the staff. I had an appointment for myself a couple of months back. Didn’t get a reminder, when I called to confirm the appointment they said oh yes we do have an appointment do come over
They weren’t sure why no reminders were sent. This was atleast ok as I remembered. Subsequently I made an appointment for my 4 year old on Black Friday. When asked if they were working that day, they said oh yes. Also on the Wednesday the confirmed the appointment on Friday. So at the time of my appointment I’m at their office, cutting my shopping short with my 4 year old, only to see a closed sign on the door. Very unprofessional. I wrote to them subsequently to tell them about my disappointing experience but haven’t heard back. looks like don’t care about patient experience. Not going back

I was told by Janelle the lady that works in the front office that my toddler was eligible for a free examination. When we were done my baby needs eye glasses, as the lady put the paper in front of me shows $ 150 for the consultation plus lenses and frame total of $ 375 out pocket, I ask how are they charging me for consultation if she said was free to me on the phone. How mess up is that? Anyway I am so mad of the lack of ethics. I felt deceived by not being told once I got there. Never going back and by the I did not get glasses there I went to image optometry in Dublin, Ca where they did accept my insurance and I paid $ 20.00 out pocket from a complete pair of eyeglasses for my baby girl.

I’m new to the area and needed a new eye doctor. I was referred by a co-​worker and very pleased with the results. The doctor was extremely friendly, provided outstanding service and was efficient. Front office workers were nice and quick. Definitely sticking with this eye doctor.

Needed to schedule an eye exam so I called around a few places and kept getting brief answers on prices and what that included. Until I called Visual Eyes. I spoke to Karen and right away she was very friendly and extremely helpful. So I decided there no need to call anywhere else. I came in a few days later and since I have anxiety I was a little nervous since I hadn’t had an eye exam in over 10 years. But the staff here made me feel real comfortable. I had my exam with Dr. Kim and she went beyond being welcoming. Asking me and talking to me about everyday things. It really helped me relax. My exam was very thorough and she explained everything I needed to know. She even told me if I have any questions in the future even if i feel it’s a dumb one don’t hesitate to give her a call. I highly recommend this place if you want a very welcoming staff and caring doctors.

Bottom-​line: Awesome doctors, pleasant environment!
I have finicky eyes & my wife has medical challenges impacting her eyes, making us very picky with eye specialists. After 4 consecutive changes, we had found an awesome doctor in South Bay that we went to for 6 years. After moving to East Bay, were looking for an equally good replacement so I picked this place based on two recommendations from our community.
I must say, I was really impressed with Dr. Kim, finding her to be very pleasant (even fun), efficient & rather quick at understanding my eyes! As you can see above, I have experience!) Right there, I setup an appointment for my wife and teenage son & now, even they are fans of this doctor.
We also had the luck of meeting Dr. Laubach. While there was no medical interaction, we found even him to be very sweet & an awesome conversationalist. He was able to strike up a fun discussion with my son about school & other stuff making him very relaxed. This is awesome because all 3 of us now feel comfortable with both the doctors.
The office is well maintained, bright & very spacious. The staff was efficient.
Overall, highly recommended by both genders & a teenage boy :) Need I say more?

Our whole family goes to Dr. Lauback and Dr. kim because they are the best 1 – 2 team in the business. If one is not available the other is there and they are both excellent with our kids, knowledgeable, and extremely patient. What I like best is that they give us numerous options, and makes sure we have the best possible care. My son’s overnight contacts (Ortho-​keratology) took several fittings and visits to get what Dr. Laubauch described as «Just right» and not only was it quick and easy, but also at no charge for the office visits.
A friend’s daughter was very uncomfortable putting contacts or anything else in her eyes and had gone to three different eye doctors but none could teach her to put the contacts in. I recommended VisualEyes and doctor Kim’s patient and reassuring manner was the key to the daughter gaining confidence and comfort with her new contact lenses.
Their office is conveniently located near 580 and 680 and they have all the latest equipment. No reason to go anywhere else!

Dr. Kim and her staff are incredibly friendly and patient. They are knowledgable from picking out the glasses (the latest styles) to any insurance question you may have (and tell you in plain english!). I have gone here for about four years and will continue to do so, eventhough I just received corrective eye surgery.
The condition of my eyes are complicated, but they help me understand the anatomy of my eye and the results they got from testing. I am so glad they can provide me with this insight that I never got from any other doctor. It’s just more comfortable knowing that your eyes aren’t this foreign object in your body, you know?
Doctor’s offices are notorious for patients enduring the wait time to see the doctor, but I’ve had MAYBE a maximum wait time at this office of 5 minutes in all the visits I’ve had here, which I truly appreciate them respecting my time.
