Good staff, good service, good selection — and all very convenient. Would recommend to anyone for glasses, contact lenses or vision tests.
Will miss them when I move away.

I went in for the first time on 1÷9÷15 and had an eye exam. Dr Chin, I think was his name, was very friendly and polite. No problem there. My issue was when I chose my frames the technician asked me if I wanted the lenses that darken in the sunlight. I told her no, outside of transitional lens (bifocal type lenses) I did not want any extras at all, nothing. When I was given the total it was high but I thought it was all due to my transitional lenses. When I got home, my husband was surprised at the cost being we have insurance so he called to get the breakdown. It turns out she added glare reducing lenses with a guarantee replacement lenses if they get scratched, an extra 75 dollars. She told me nothing about it so I probably wouldn’t have known to even use the benefit if I did scratch my lenses. I called and asked her about it and she got defensive instead of apologizing for her lack of thoroughness in explaining what she was selling me. I got it canceled, but it was done grudgingly.
Here it is, eight days later, I still don’t have my glasses. I was told 7 – 10 days, so I called today and another lady who answered the phone said it’s «7−10 WORKING days». Big difference considering they are closed Sunday and Monday and only open part of the day on others. I have never had to wait so long to get glasses, ever.
Also, their choices in frames are very limited being they are a very small business.
Overall, aside from the optometrist who was very pleasant, I am very disappointed with this place. My advice is pay very close attention to what you are paying for and get a clear cut breakdown before you whip out your credit card. If you need your glasses in less than two weeks, go to lens crafters or somewhere else that can handle volume quickly because you will wait a while for your glasses.
Update: yesterday I called to inquire about the status of my glasses and got the VM, left a message and got no call back. Today I called and someone answered the phone (Wow, what a concept!) and still, no glasses. The lady was nice but doesn’t share my concern that I’ve been waiting for so long. I get the impression she «just works there»…I won’t say her name as I am not out to smear anyone, I just want people to have a heads up that you can possibly wait quite a while for your glasses. Once they got my money it seems like the customer service ended there. If I could cancel the order at this point I would for sure. I can honestly say I’ve never waited so long for glasses, ever.
Another update: Today, 1.27÷15, after all this waiting they sent me a TEXT at 12:58 pm saying that my glasses were in, and they closed at 1:00 pm. If that wasn’t cheesy I don’t know what is. Dreadful experience. They couldn’t care less.

Great clinic! I have a major eye phobia and the optometrist really babied me through the whole process of my first eye exam!

Dr Tom is great! My sons see him. Our last visit was not so perfect because of the long wait…45 minutes.

This place is a «must –see»!
First — my experience with a vision clinic that IS NOT VisionOne:
I recently went to have my vision checked at a highly recommended place in Pleasanton, and boy did they ever blow it! First, their eyeglass selection was weak (they have big lenses for big heads, small lenses for small heads, but they didn’t have small lenses for big heads like mine :). However, that isn’t the worst of it. They also failed to write all the info on my prescription and it turns out that their prescription was wrong.
Next, my experience with VisionOne:
This review is for the great people at VisionOne: Dr. Tom, Christina, and Jenny treated me like an old friend, and helped me pick out frames that even my wife loves! Plus, Dr. Tom helped me improve my prescription and my glasses by asking me one question about my current progressive glasses, which was: Do you keep them on or take them off when working at the computer? When I answered I take them off, he asked me what good are the progressives if the field of vision doesn’t work? Hmmm… great point! Dr. Tom also discovered that I had a section of my peripheral vision that no longer worked and referred me to a specialist, where I learned all about an uncommon condition that I have. Fortunately, via regular monitoring it should not worsen, but it was a relief to know that I had this and that it could be treated. No one else ever found this problem before.
I rarely write this much about a company, but I am so impressed with Dr Tom, Christina and Jenny that I highly encourage you to take a «look» at them if you are in need of an exam or a cool pair of glasses.

Dr. Tom and staff are the best. I’ve been going to Dr. Tom for years now. He’s very good at what he does and takes the extra steps to insure that your vision is perfect. He also takes the time to understand any other health related factors that contribute to eye issues. Exams are very thorough as well — they truly understand how to get perfect vision!
I wear contacts — he was able to choose the right contacts that best fit my needs — not just focused on vision, but also comfort, how long I wear them, what activities may affect wearing contacts, eye strain, etc. VisionOne also has a great selection of frames and eyewear — my frames feel like I’m not wearing glasses at all!
Dr. Tom also specializes in pediatric vision — both my kids have been going to Dr. Tom for years now. The kids used to not like wearing glasses, but after visiting Dr. Tom, they actually like picking out frames and are excited to wear them.
They also take many types of vision insurance — and insure to maximize your benefit coverage.
Give them a try — you will be very satisfied and have perfect vision!!!

Dr. Tom and the entire staff are top notch. They really care about you as a patient and will do whatever it takes to ensure the best vision outcome possible. Highly recommend you give them a try.

Everyone there is awesome! Dr. Tom suggested I stop by a year ago only because I never had an eye exam before. Sure enough, I needed glasses and even though this was the case, he never pressured me to purchase them. Christina was very helpful in suggesting what pair would look great with my face shape. Even a year later I am still very happy that I went for an eye exam. I especially like how honest everyone is and how they take the time to help you with any questions you may have. I can’t wait to get my new pair of sunglasses!

This is a 4-​star review, but I would say it is trending up from what would have been a 1 or 2 star review when the place first opened.
We live on First Street (probably 600 feet from the office), so we were excited when they opened up. We very much prefer to keep our business local (though the doctors actually live in San Fran and San Jose I think).
Anyway, the first exam was great. They were fast and friendly. They had not yet figured out how to bill insurance, so that part was a big rough. I ultimately had to call twice to get the paperwork sent in so I could be reimbursed. When I ordered my contacts, I had to call twice and then they magically showed up 2 days after my last call. I am certain there was a mix-​up in the ordering. The timing was too coincidental.
A year later, I went back to get new contacts. They are right near the farmer’s market, so they rely on a lot of drop-​in traffic on weekends. If you have an appointment on a Saturday, be sure you plan for some delays. Taking the first slot at 9am is probably the best way to make sure you get seen on time.
I voiced some concerns over the service (around both the previous contact order and having to wait for my appointment). In literally a few days, the service was fantastically better for me. They are hyper-​responsive. I got my new contacts in days, and they called to remind me to pick them up. I just went in for some pain in my eye, and they saw me immediately. They were friendly and helpful. They set up follow-​up appointments straight away. They told me if I had pain again that I should just call them sooner and they would see me after hours. Seriously, they have been fantastic the last couple of visits.
So I would say that they are trending up. Because of the slow start, it is hard to give a 5 right now, but over the next year, if the trajectory holds, I would ecstatically give them a 5.
FWIW, I have met with both doctors (Chin and Tom). They are both enthusiastic about their work. And the front office person (reception, sales, and other random responsibilities) is ten times better than the ifrst person who worked there.

Vision One doctors and staff truly care about your eye health. The entire staff will take the time to get things correct. The office is nicely decorated and they have the latest eye wear. I travel 45 minutes just to see Dr. Tom.

I just lost my Kaiser coverage and was looking for a new place for glasses.
I walked into VisionOne by chance. My 8 year old son had broken his only pair of glasses. He did an exam right then and there. He discovered that my son was given the absolute WRONG prescription by Kaiser!
He then did an exam on me and sure enough, mine was wrong too! Not even close to what it should be!
Not only was he professional and extremely nice but he also put a rush on my sons glasses and gave him temporary lenses while we waited for his frames and other lenses to come in.
Christina who works there was very helpful as well, going through all the frames to find a pair that fit him perfectly. They even had more frames shipped in since the ones my son liked were too small.
The entire staff and experience was amazing. I would never go anywhere else again.
If you want a friendly place that goes above and beyond for their clients, this is the place to go.
They found life long customers in my family!

I went there for my annual check up and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Dr. Chin was really patient in answering questions I had and going over the testing procedures.
Although I spent more money for my deluxe contacts than I normally do, I felt it was worth it, considering they’re my eyes after all. I liked how Dr. Chin took the time to explain the differences in the contacts I was using and considering. Overall, I would definitely go back. Thank you!

I wish that my experience at this office was as great as all the other reviews here but I had a terrible experience.
I had won a $ 50 gift certificate at a street fair and though I would get my eyes checked here because I like to patronize local business.
I have AARP and they wouldn’t accept the certificate for that. I wanted to get lenses for frames I have and liked and the price was much too high considering that I had this gift certificate. They wanted me to buy a complete pair of glasses to use it so I wasn’t too happy about that.
The eye exam seemed terriffic and I was happy with that and left with my prescription. I didn’t get my glasses there. When my glasses were made they seemed like the prescription wasn’t right because they made my eyes burn and I didn’t see very well with them. I took the glasses back to Dr. Tom. He wasn’t happy and said that he usually charged to check the glasses against the prescription if they weren’t made in his office but he did check my eyes again. the prescription that he gave me that time was TOTALLY different. I am diabetic and he said it was because of that. My medical doctor said it was impossible for the change to have been so extreme in two weeks because of diabetes.
I had to have the glasses remade and I had to pay for that again sot the glasses cost me double what they should have. I called the office and they wanted me to come in to pay for another exam that Dr. Tom had set up at my first appointment.
I would never go back to this place and I was very disappointed. This is no way to do business. Glasses should not have to be purchased where your eyes are checked to get a good pair of glasses.

I had such a pleasant experience at VisionOne Optometry. Dr. Chin gave me one of the most thorough exams that I’ve ever had. He took his time to make sure I understood all of the tests. I really liked the way he explained things. His staff also helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses. I love my Oliver Peoples!

VisionOne Optometry took over SuperOne Vision in Daly City (by 99 Ranch) and I WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL! You can also tell there’s a change in management because the front desk staff are soooooo super nice!!!
Now, I’m one of these contact lens wearers considered to have a «hard to fit» condition because what I need is generally in-​between sizes. For decades, I’ve seen many optometrists who claim they have tried and tried to get me the best fitted lenses, but not really. I have been settling for many years wearing these somewhat «off» prescriptions just to get by in order to play sports or to give the old spectacles a break.
Today as I was near leaving my appointment with Dr. Tom, I literally CRIED, because I got prescribed lenses that truly fits well and helps me see clearer than I ever have in my ENTIRE LIFE!!! I almost want to say I can see better, if not just as well, in these lenses than with my glasses — which I was told for many years that was impossible.
What’s great about Dr. Tom is that he doesn’t give you the doctor-​speak to confuse you enough to just buy what he’s got in his inventory. He really finds products that help you «SEE» for yourself that he’s an expert in this field by all means. And you know…“seeing” is really believing!!!

Dr. Tom is the best! I have extreme nearsightedness — his THOROUGH explanation and examination of my eyes allow me not to focus on this deficit but rather how to care for my eyes. He takes time to talk of the preventive aspect of eye health (incl proper contac use and what kind of sunglasses to use). There’s a great selection of glasses to choose from too! I have been a patient of Dr. Tom’s for over 10 years and I recommend him highly (even if it means driving 45min to see him).

I see Dr. Gregory Tom at this location. Parking is plentiful and free. The new and clean office is surrounded by restaurants and shopping. Bring your entire family — they won’t complain. I’ve been a patient for more than 10 years. Dr. Tom is a rare combination of knowledge, know-​how (can cut lenses on site), caring, follow-​through, and cordiality. I trust him completely for my family’s critically important eyesight.
